Ok, so if I am going to attack the mob, I use spellstrike. I want to cast shocking grasp on the weapon, and use the weapon to hit. If it hits, does the mob takes damage from weapon and spell. Is this done at a -2 penalty? If the attack misses the spell stays on the weapon for 1 minute? I am lost on this part:
could you explain that. Sorry for the confusion. ![]()
Now I am confused. Spell Combat (Ex): At 1st level, a magus learns to cast spells and wield his weapons at the same time. This functions much like two-weapon fighting, but the off-hand weapon is a spell that is being cast. To use this ability, the magus must have one hand free (even if the spell being cast does not have somatic components), while wielding a light or one-handed melee weapon in the other hand. As a full-round action, he can make all of his attacks with his melee weapon at a –2 penalty and can also cast any spell from the magus spell list with a casting time of 1 standard action (any attack roll made as part of this spell also takes this penalty). If he casts this spell defensively, he can decide to take an additional penalty on his attack rolls, up to his Intelligence bonus, and add the same amount as a circumstance bonus on his concentration check. If the check fails, the spell is wasted, but the attacks still take the penalty. A magus can choose to cast the spell first or make the weapon attacks first, but if he has more than one attack, he cannot cast the spell between weapon attacks. Spellstrike (Su): At 2nd level, whenever a magus casts a spell with a range of “touch” from the magus spell list, he can deliver the spell through any weapon he is wielding as part of a melee attack. Instead of the free melee touch attack normally allowed to deliver the spell, a magus can make one free melee attack with his weapon (at his highest base attack bonus) as part of casting this spell. If successful, this melee attack deals its normal damage as well as the effects of the spell. If the magus makes this attack in concert with spell combat, this melee attack takes all the penalties accrued by spell combat melee attacks. This attack uses the weapon's critical range (20, 19–20, or 18–20 and modified by the keen weapon property or similar effects), but the spell effect only deals ×2 damage on a successful critical hit, while the weapon damage uses its own critical modifier. from looking at both of these. Spell combat says you get a -2 when casting a spell and using weapon independently. Spellstrike is applying the spell to the weapon and having the weapon hit. No where does it state that there is a -2 penalty for using spellstrike. ![]()
I am trying to clear this up seems there is a disagreement on what it it should be. I have a magus Lvl4, with spell strike, i use a scimitar, and going to use my arcane pool to grant a +1 enhancement bonus to my scimitar, I am at a +8 to hit with weapon, I also use arcane accuracy which is a +4 so my total +to hit is 1+8+4 = 13 to hit, with Keen on scimitar my number to crit confirm is a 15-20. Now i have applied my range touch spell to the weapon. When I swing to hit am I still at +13 or +11? When I hit with my weapon and it crits i do 1d6 (weapon damage) +5 damage(dervish dance and weapon finesse) Plus range touch spell Scorching Ray of 4D6, Since I critted and confirmed I do ((1d6)+5)*2+(4d6)*2. Is this all correct? ![]()
Alot of people are making valid points and comments. But there are maybe some misunderstandings people are getting from Decker_LV and my comments. 1. I stated that the cleric was doing healing surges - pathfinder terminology is channel energy - my bad.

I play the rogue in this party. The DM gave directions to the entire party that there are always consequences to actions. Some are bad and some are good. I accept that and so did the other players. The DM in this instance asked them REALLY? so many times it was nuts. When I started taking damage from the 2 hounds trying to remove from the cleric it was to late. The cleric was out of heals, 1 surge left. Druid had 1 small heal and ranger used his heals on his cat. They were using the cat maliciously and foolishly. Their take on it was oh well, I can get another one. These 3 refuse to take potions for any need. Their comment is that is what the healer is there to do. Healer somewhat agrees with them, but this healer wants to be a battle tank, 10 strength and about 30 HP and he at least trys to better his character on items that he may need for his character. The other 2 well the druid buys something that he may use 1 time. The ranger does nothing with his gold, kind of a hoarder. Has every weapon that has dropped, just about every magic item and still complains he cant do damage. The DM here rolled MANY crits and it got to the point where he wasnt even adding all the damage he was doing because it was stupid. They ran out of heal spells cat couldnt recover, dogs took off with 3 pieces of the cat in different directions. These 3 (druid, ranger and Cleric) tormented and teased the mage and his pet after I RP to let the mage let us go. He did but as a last ditch effort b4 leaving the tower as it moved away they attacked his pet. ![]()
A little more insight to what has happened.
