Hi everybody, I'm reading for the first time the exceptional saga "Memory Sorrow and Thorn" by Tad Williams, and I'm thinking about writing a Pathfinder mini campaign within that so flavourful setting.
How could I "translate", in Pathfinder game terms, the races, Norns (evil elves/drow?), Trolls (dwarves/forest gnome/halfling mix?), and Sithi (elves?) above all, and the magic (particularly the Binabik shamanic bone casting and the Path of the Dreams)?
Could those of you who read the sagas help me?
Many thanks,
G. :D

Hi, last night my group fought against 6 medium fire elementals. One of them managed to set on fire the half elven female ranger, who failed the reflex saving throw: anyway, during his turn, the 3rd level dwarven druid cast "Create Water" to put out the fire via pouring rain: do you think it should work? According to me, yes, also because a 3rd level druid can create a 6 gallons pouring rain: what do you think?
Many thanks, ;-)))

Yes, indeed! And what about Armor Class and Hit Points? Does the Druid keep his/her own Armor Class & Hit Points, or does s/he take the animal's?
Thank you all again!
V.

Many, Many Thanks!!! :-)))

I don't know if there's already another thread about that: In my group there's a dwarven druid who is about to gain wild shape: which characteristics (Attributes, Numeber and Types of Attacks, Armor Class, Hit Dice, Hit Points...) does s/he receive from his/her animal shape, and which does s/he mantain from his dwarven form?
Many thanks,
V.

I like playing Pathfinder by the book as much as possible: I've seen that cantrips have been organized according to their arcane schools: could you tell me if and where clear written rules about cantrips and bonus spells form arcane schools are, in the core rulebook? I couldn't find any clear rule about that. Many thanks again,
V

Hi everybody: in my group, one of the players plays a halfling rogue/mage (evoker): does he get also a 0 level bonus spell from the evocation school as a spell bonus from his specialization? I think so, just want to be sure.
Many thanks,
V.

Hi everybody: a Bard can start, as per the Core Rulebook, a Bardic Performance as a standard action, and can mantain each round as a free action. In my group, the gnome bard plays her harp to start a Bardic Performance: to mantain each round, even as a free action, does she have to keep on playing, having this way both her hands busy? If so, what kind of standard action could she do? Could she just effect movement actions?
Many thanks!

1 & 2 are both yes.

Also go back and reread the class feature in question -- the name is misleading as it doesn't allow you to find traps!

Instead it allows the rogue to disarm magical traps with the disable device skill and have a bonus on two skills.

Anyone can find magical (or non-magical) traps -- they can even disarm them with odd means (such as magic, or special devices/whatever) only someone with trapfinding however can disable a magical trap with disable device.

Many Thanks again!

1)A Glyph of Warding is placed on a doorway: can a wizard detect the aura of this spell via Detect Magic?
2) On a door there is a magical trap (a magical device one) with a Spiritual Waepon triggered when somenone tries to break the door: can a wizard detect the aura also of this spell (spiritual weapon) via Detect Magic?
I think so, I'd find illogical that a Rogue could detect magical traps with his Class Feature, while a wizarf couldn't do the same even more easily with a specific spell: what do you think, or am I missing something about the rules as they are written?
Many Thanks!

Thank you very much, and must the barbed devil summon the lemures/barbed devils within the range of the Summon Monsters Spell or can he summon them within a greater distance?
And if a Barbed Devil teleports away and flees from the combat, do the lemures/barbed devils remain, or do they disappear? They remain, right?
And...many thanks, and happy new year to everyone!!!!

Hi, one of my players plays a dwarf druid who really loves riding: by the way he portraits him, this dwarf is a marvelous character.
He wants to ride a horse: can dwarves ride horses, since they are a medium sized race, or do they have to ride ponies just like halflings and gnomes do? Many thanks,
V.

2 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Hi everybody: how long does it take to a Barbed Devil to use his Summon Barbed Devil/Lemures (Mag.)Ability? A standard action, or 1 round as per the Summon Monster spells? Many thanks!

Thanks everybody so much for your precious suggestion!
And yes..linx = lynx!

Hi everybody!
One of the players in the group I'm GMing (my wife), is playing a really cool Half Elf Ranger, Ithil Id Calad. She's reaching the 4th level, and she would like to have a linx as an animal companion. No horse, no wolf, no eagle: a linx! Are there any stats for a linx?
Many thanks,
G.

Hi everybody,
two "magical" questions:

1) does the brooch of shielding absorb damages also from Evoker's Force Missiles, similar to Magic Missiles?
2) If a wizard/thief in leather armor casts a spell using the daily capability of his Arcane Bonded Ring, does he have to roll for the chance of losing the spell because of the Armor Penalty (10%, if I'm not wrong)?

Many thanks, and thanks again for the quickness of your answers also to my other threads, they are really helpful!

Hi everybody,
here's an example: the group defeats (by killing after a hard melee) an evil fighter wearing a +1 chain mail. They take the magic armour and try to don it: I think that the armour should be damaged after the battle, what do you think, and how do you handle such topics? Would it be different if the armour weren't magical? Is there any rule about that? Many thanks,
V

A rider on a war trained horse is already engaged in a melee combat. Can he do as follows:
1st: As one of his free actions (as per usage of the riding skill) the rider makes her/his mount attack
2nd: as its full round action, the mount attacks with both of its hooves
3rd: as part of its full action, the mount makes a 5 feet step backward, momentarily disengaging itself and the rider from the combat
4th: as one of his move actions the rider takes a healing potion from his belt
5th: as a standard action, the rider drinks his healing potion, without receving any Attack of Opportunity, because of the 5' step backward of his/her mount.
Can the rider and her/his mount act this way, or must the rider initiate and complete all of her/his action (even the free ones) before (or after) the mount attacks?
Many thanks again!

Hi everybody: a(very creative) player of my group plays the role of a halfling Wizard(Invoker) - Rogue.
If he's well hidden, and the enemies are unaware of his presence, could he attempt a rogue sneak attack casting a ranged touch spell, such as Acid Splash, cast within the proper range for a sneak attack with a missile weapon? Is there any clear rule about this?
Many thanks!

Hi everybody, is there any rule explicitly stating that you cannot use a missile weapon when you are adiacent to an enemy? So far, I found none, neither in 3.5 nor in Pathfinder. Am I missing something? If you want to use a missile weapon against an enemy you are adiacent to, all you risk is an attack of opportunity, that you can avoid if you can make the 5' feet step: have I understood exactly the rules? Again, am I missing something?
Many thanks, Galannor

The answer you're looking for is in the glosssary: bleed. Short answer: 2 bleed damage each round, it doesn't stack with itself.

Hi, I'm planning of throwing a bearded devil and 6 Lemures against my players' heroes. I've read the description in Pathfinder RPG Bestiary, but I didn't understand if every wound inflicted by a bearded devil with its glaive causes bleeding, or just the first one.
In other words, if a bearded devil succesfully hits a character three times with its glaive, does that character lose 6 hit points from bleeding each round, or just the standard 2 hp? Can you help me?
Many thanks,
Galannor

Hi, how many tricks an animal companion knows at the beginning of the game, when the druid starts at 1st level? I'v given a wolf half his total tricks plus one, the bonus one: the others must be taught to him by the druid. Have I been too generous?
Many thanks again,
Valerio

Hi, everybody!
First of all, I've just bought and read the hardbound Pathfinder Corerulebook, and I think it's the best fantasy roleplaying around. Period. After saying that, some questions about the rules: I don't know if there's already a thread about this, but, do the Elves have the same chance, as per 3.5, of finding secret doors merely passing near to them? In the description of the elven races it doesn'n say anything about that, but in the rest of the book, some sentences implies that they have the same capability also in Pathfinder.
Furthermore, do the Elves need to sleep, or they meditate, as per 3.5?
Many thanks,
Valerio
