Enjoyed immensely, but it needs an appropriately balanced party

4/5

If you don't have a party with a good mix of melee & ranged spellcasters, I can see how this could be a really dangerous scenario.

Spoiler's Within:
Jackpot & the obstacle were hilariously silly.

I can see the point of skill challenges with Urwal.

My character didn't do much for either of these, but that was more because there were other characters in the party who were so much better for them! I did not begrudge them their time to shine.

The spider battle was a reasonable first combat.

The fires were fun - I can see how the dice could make this encounter swing hard in either direction.

We got a hint from traveling about what to do with the dragon cliff. The Rope of Climbing did make the encounter really easy, it certainly helped that my character crit succeeded on finding where to tell it tie itself off.

The final combat could easily have been brutal. Our GM warned us that it was optional and emphasized that it could be deadly. The enemies weren't rolling terribly well, two of the characters had a driving reason to do Recall Knowledge on any of the enemies we'd run across - there were at least a couple of Recall Knowledge checks for every battle, it was really good to have here. Between that, the "Redirect Ritual Energy", a 6th level fighter with Haste & Heroism, and a lot of fire running around, we didn't have a lot of trouble with it.

I'm looking forward to GMing it sometime!
