Hi All, I've been looking at the Shapeshifter Ranger and wondered if anyone had any advice on how to optimise a build for it. Also does two claw attacks count as two attacks? Would the ranger suffer the usual penalty associated with two weapons? I assume claws are classed as small weapons, so without two weapon fighting would he suffer the -4/-4? Thanks Lee
Hi All, Due to the lack of gaming groups in my area, I’m about to start solitaring some pathfinder modules, not ideal I know, but I’ve got to play this excellent game some how. Anyway, I’ve decided to base my adventures in the City of Strangers, as not only does it have access to a mega dungeon, which will allow me to use loads of published adventures (with a little tweeking), but also as the city is a melting pot of cultures and races I can use several different races that I would normally steer clear of due to story/geographic reasons. My initial party consists of :- Ranger (Half Elf Male)
Or As above substituting the rogue with another Ranger. I have a couple of questions to ask, Firstly which Ranger Archtype is best suited to the Dusk Wardens. Urban Ranger, Deep Walker. Secondly, I thought my Cleric could be a Priest/Priestess of Pharasma, but wondered how the church of Pharasma actually fits in Kaer Maga, after all there is a sizable population of undead as well as an established church of urgathoa, why isn’t there all out war in the city. Any other comments on party composition or thoughts would be most welcome. Please note I have access to Faiths of Balance and Purity, City of Stangers, Core Rule Book, APG and Besitary 1. Thank you Lee
Hi All, I'm in the process of building a party that is biased toward Martial Skill's. My thoughts on composition are. Fighter (TWF)
I have gone for Bard as he should be able to introduce a bit of arcane magic and buffs for the fighters. The Bard should also pick up some skills that would usually be brought to the table by a rogue. The Ranger is included to cover any stealth requirements, his animal companion will also help boost the party. I've gone for an Undead Cleric just for a little flavour. Any thoughts would be appreciated, also is there anyway I can get disable device as a class skill (Feats/Traits) as none of my party get that skill. Thanks Lee
Hi All, With all books available for Pazio, I find i'm spoilt for choice. I was wondering if anyone out there could recommend any Campaign Setting or Player Companion books. I'm not looking for crunchy books, just fluff type information. I only own the Rule Book, Bestiary, a couple of modules, Pathfinder Chronicles: Gazetteer and Pathfinder Chronicles: Into the Darklands. Thanks Lee

Ah, that does change things some what. The Party's Cleric killed Tassak, the very next turn. I think I'll rule that the fighter was found to be still alive and with a bit of rest is back in action for the next adventure.

In my experience most GMs will tell you when an enemy scores a crit, but there are those that do not. Yes it was a Crit and because the Fighter already had only 4 hp's he had to make a fortitude save (failed) and thus died because he took more than 50% damage. Pretty harsh but I guess it can be quite brutal at 1st level.
Hi All, I just played the above module and on the last turn of the game, the fighter died due to getting hit by Tassak. Tassak hit him with the Master Work Scimitar, causing 14 points of damage. Tassak sword states MWK Scimitar +6 (1D6+2/18-20), does this mean Tassak adds +6 to all roles when using this weapon? Seems a bit excessive as it would kill most 1st Level Pc's with just one hit. Thanks Lee
Hi All, I soon intend on running the Crown of the Kobold King using the Pathfinder rules. Since the module was designed for the old 3.5 rules, how much redisgn do I need to do to run this with pathfinder rules? I was thinking for just using the Bestiary Monster Stats instead of the Monster Manual stats, would this work or do I need to tweak the adventure module in other ares too? Lee
Hi All, I’m about to start DM’ing using the pathfinder rules for the first time and wanted to check I’d got the rules for APL and CR, right. The party consists of 6 PC’s (Fighter, Ranger, Cleric, Rogue, Bard & Wizard). I believe this would be an APL of 2? Average PC level of 1 and then add one as there are 6 PC’s. Now I looked up the CR and an average encounter would be 600exp so that’s a CR of 2. I looked in the Bestiary for a CR2 Monster and choose a Bug bear. Having looked at the stats for a Bug Bear, too me it looks as though the PC’s wouldn’t even break a sweat against this monster. Have I done my maths correct? Should I instead use more CR 1 monsters, for instance 5 Orc’s Lee
Hi All, I’m putting together a themed band of adventurers based roughly on a Templar crusader basis (Last Wall/War Wound area). I was struggling to fit a Magic User (Wizard, Sorcerer etc) into the theme. Could a party survive without a Magic User if they had an extra Cleric replacing the missing Arcane user? Lee
Hi All, Hoping you can help a first time DM out. I'm putting together a party of six players and want to use the pre published adventures rather than create my own. I have two questions to ask. 1. With modules being written for parties of four, should I start a party of six (1st level) with a level 2 published adventure? 2. If the party includes the standard, Warrior, Rogue, Wizard, Cleric. What would be the ideal classes for the remaining two players. I thought, Druid and Ranger, for a bit more muscle and spell casting. Thanks Lee |
