I prefer the pfsrd for general reference - it's way easier for me to use, and I don't usually have a hard time distinguishing 3pp from paizo content - but I'll usually check on AoN to make sure things are actually legal (especially traits, but really anything that sounds suspiciously targeted towards a specific region or deity). ![]()

It was usually even characters who weren't in the fog at all (who managed to find the path, or before they left it) being tripped. He said the mist reached a tendril out at us and tripped us, and it was on the monster's initiative, not ours. I do think that if he had run it by the book, we could have won (though someone had a good chance of dying, admittedly). I'm not sure whether it was a rules mastery situation or just him deciding he doesn't want to GM anymore (though he did suggest we re-roll characters and pick back up next time, so idk) but from what I'm reading here it does look like he ramped up the difficulty far above what it should have been. (Honestly, it seems like he picked up on "creepy monster comes out of the disorienting mist and scoops you up and it's all very spooky" and just took it so far that it killed us all.) ![]()
(I'm another player in that group.) The GM seemed to think that we shouldn't have gone through the door in the first place, basically - that we were warned that the fog was dangerous, and should've known it was a death sentence even though there was a clear path through and the other time we walked on a path through the fog, nothing happened. He mentioned afterwards that he wasn't expecting to TPK us, but that he had a great time/thought it was a fun session. I will mention this is his first time really GMing (we rotate GMs a lot in our group), so I'm not sure how much it was us being stupid, the AP being super deadly, him wanting to kill us, or him not knowing the rules well enough to run it properly. It did seem like the creature was doing some impossible things, but since I'm not going to buy the book to look up the stats (lol) I have no idea how much of that was intended. Jurassic Pratt wrote:
So there's no crazy death worm lurking in the basement? It seemed weird - I've played enough APs to think that if there was a CR17 monster anywhere on the map, it would have been telegraphed and locked behind a door - but I didn't think he'd actually added it in just to screw us over harder when we were already doomed. ![]()
I added a fair amount of custom material into book 2 (mostly some of the items from the back covers), just so I could give more options for the PCs than "village, ship, or port?" It doesn't seem like it'd be hard to add in a module there, though I've never patched in something that major before. I've only run the first two, and read through 3 & 4, but that's the only place so far that it seems like there's a real need for extra content. ![]()
I'm getting ready to run this in a few months, and looking through the section on Port Peril I'm worried. The PCs are very anti-slavery (or at least the captain is), and I have a feeling they might try to take down Saltfish Camp. I'm not sure exactly how difficult to make it (besides, y'know, very) but I'm more concerned about how the rest of the city would react, and given the rest of the plotline, never showing their faces again doesn't sound like the best option. Any ideas? ![]()

Do you happen to have some guidance on the competence bonus for the rings? I see some rings that provide bonuses of +5 or +10 to things like climbing or swimming in the rings page, however, I do not see anything for sleight of hand. Unfortunately I am not sure how easily I'll be able to convince my GM to allow a +10 or +15 skill ring if it is not on the official list. As for the 1/2 bonus I unfortunately did not know about that when I picked my character. I'd have gone for catfolk instead of kitsune if I had. ![]()
Does the teampickpocket count as aid another? I am basically looking for a sleight of hand version of this thread: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2nxq0?Highest-Diplomacy-Can-You-Get-Your-Bonus- Over I've done a fair amount of googling but it is hard to say if I am missing something or don't know what to google in the first place. ![]()
Hello everyone. First time posting here. I am currently playing a character that is trying to become the best Sleight of hand-er in the world. A little about my character. I am currently a level 10 kitsune rogue with the following bonuses: Ranks 10
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?327356-Pathfinder-Making-the- most-of-Typed-Bonuses Using the above mentioned thread I see that I could get a pendent of knowledge for an insight bonus and possibly a ring of terrible cost for a profane bonus. Does anyone have any suggestions or knowledge as to further ways this could be increased? |
