![]() I think it would be easy enough to just make up a charcter list card to place somewhere. A bit like the listings for the card decks at the back of the rule book. That way you can rest characters and put their cards back into the various sections of the box. The, when you want to use them again, it's easy enough to read off your list for that characters cards. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() I don't know about other people, but if someone demands something of me, then it goes to the bottom of the to do list. If someone asks me, then that is different, I'll go out of my way to help. As to misprints etc. Hate to say this folks, but even the classics of all times probably had spelling mistakes etc, in the first print. To be honest I expect them to, not because of bad production etc. but because people are not machines, they make mistakes. Even if I had read about the misprints I would still have bought the base set and the add on set due to all the reviews and videos that I have seen about it. I like the game, I can see where it is going, and can see spin offs. A space exploration, virus apocalypse variations. So, just ask for things and hopefully you will get them. The only thing I would say that lets the game down is the single set of dice that comes with it. I would have had X amount of sets, and have them different colours. This way, each player could have their own dice, but could lend a die to others if they needed multiple rolls of say a d8. After the roll they get their die back. That's my only gripe, and I solved it easy enough by buying my own dice sets. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Just wondering if ther will be a downloadable official character card blank. This way we can create our own characters. I know I could make one myself, but I would sooner have an official one. This would be editable, not just one where you just write on it. Just an idea. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() It wouldn't be hard to do errata pdf's of the cards once they have found all the probs with them. Easy enough, download, print etc. I have asked for a watermarked set of cards to be available online to help with various questions. Watermarks to solve people just downloading and printing a full set of cards. So, give people time to find the probs, let them do a PDF etc. Problem solved. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Hi, I just need a clarification on what I asked:- Do you need to defeat the Giant Hermit Crab twice in succession. "If the Giant Hermit Crab would be defeated, reroll the dice and use the new result." So, you need to defeat it first, reroll the dice and defeat again to fully defeat it. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Another thing to consider is the Character deck slots. The original Base game was set up for 4 players, but you have 6 characters, so no probs with having characters resting from one game. Now, along comes the Character Add On pack and now you have 10 characters and still only a max of 6 character deck slots. So you need space for those decks. Plus what about the future expansions? All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Sooner or later the game will outgrow the main box. So, I'll sleeve my cards and eventually put them into strage boxs. You can get different sizes, so no probs for various options. Just need some dividers to divide various sections if required. I don't have a prob at the momemnt, but I will just do the above when required. I'm for putting the cards in sleeves. All the best. ![]() There are two location cards in the Burnt Offerings set as well. Goblin Fortress:- When permenently closed:- On closing, add 1d4 random weapons to this location without looking at them, then automatically aquire the top card. Junk Beach:- When permenently closed:- On closing, add 1d4 random items to this location without looking at them, then automatically aquire the top card. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Examples of Game Over There are various ways of losing the game. Not being able to advance the Blessing Deck:- You only have a set number of cards for the Blessings Deck and this is your timer, no matter how many players you have. Once you have turned the last Blessings card from the Blessings Deck and all players have completed their turns, then the game is over. Not defeating the Villain:- If you don't defeat the villain by the end of the last round of the Blessing Deck, then the game is over. All the players in the game being dead:- If all players are dead before the villain is defeated, the game is over. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Do a PDF, download, print, put in sleeves. Done. PDF's can be updated far quicker than printing them out large scale and then having to ship them to various parts of the world. We live in an electronic world these days, make the best of it by having the opportunity to download at anytime, much better than wait and wonder if they get lost in the post. All the best. ![]() Example set up for Locations part 02 update - Using Brigadoom Okay we have the Locations put in place but.... we need to put in villains, henchmen, etc. For Brgadoom, your villain is Jubrayl Vhiski (check the card) and his henchmen will be Bandits. So, take Jubrayl Vhiski out of the box, along with a henchman (in this case Bandits) for every other location. If you are running a game with 4 locations that would be Jubrayl Vhiski and 3 Bandits cards. Put these to one side for now. Now, let’s look at the Woods card:- For this location you need to make a deck of the following:- Monster 4
So starting with your Basic Monster cards from the main box (You have set up your box as shown in the rulebook?), shuffle them and deal the four cards required for this location face down in front of you. Put the rest of the Monster cards back in the box. Repeat for the Barrier, Weapon and Item cards. The other sections say 0, so you take no cards for those options. Now take all the cards you have placed in front of you from the Monster, Barrier, Weapon & Item packs and shuffle them all together and then place them face down below the Woods card. Repeat the above for the other Locations by referring to what you need to make up the Location Deck for each Location. Once you have all this done, take the Jubrayl Vhiski card and the other 3 bandit cards and shuffle them. Now place one card face down on the top of each Location Pile. Reshuffle the Location Decks, now the villian and henchmen can be in any Location Deck and any position within the deck. Normally you will only have 1 henchman (in this case, Bandit) or villian (Jubrayl Vhiski) in a Location Deck, but this will change to a henchman and a villian if the villian manages to escape (More on this in a later example, don't worry about it at this point) Your Locations are now all set up ready to play. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Example of Setting Up Your Blessings Deck. All you need do is randomly select 30 cards from the Blessing Cards in your main box. Now just shuffle the cards and place the Blessing Deck in front of you. You can use the variation used in the set up example on page 05 of the rule book. This is your timer for the game, just 30 cards, no matter how many characters, the Blessing Deck is 30 cards. Future additions may change this, but for now it is always 30 cards. All the best. ![]() Example set up for Locations Part 01 This is my way of doing it, you may use your own variation of where to put the Location cards. I use the left to right option as it's easier for solo play. You can use the clock based version as shown in the rule book or any other variation you want. How many Locations are used in the game is based on how many characters are in play. By that I mean even a solo game with 4 characters played by a single player gets the same amount of Locations as four individual players. For this example I will be using the Brigadoom Scenario set up for solo play. Place the Brigadoom card in front of you. First of all let’s decide on how many characters we want to play as this will decide how many locations we have open in the game:- 1. Woods, Waterfront, Farmhouse.
When using the above always start at player 1 options, Woods, Waterfront, Farmhouse, then if you are using more characters, carry on with the next lines locations. Place these cards in a line from left to right under the Brgadoom card. Example:- Playing four characters would give you all the options locations from 1 – 4:- Woods, Waterfront, Farmhouse, Wooden Bridge, Academy and Prison. So, for four characters you would have six locations. Find the Location Cards required and place them side by side where you are playing. I would place them in the order given on the Brigadoom card, with Woods always at the extreme left hand side and Treacherous Cave on the extreme right hand side if in play. In this example the extreme right card would be Prison. Example of four player locations order, +’s added for spacers:- Woods+Waterfront+Farmhouse+Wooden Bridge+Academy+Prison. End of part 01, continues in part 02 All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Updated version: Example set up of a starting hand for a single character solo game. Choose a character:- Valeros has been chosen for this example. We will also use the card set from page 21 of the rulebook. Put your Character Card in front of you, with the side regarding your Strength/Dexterity/etc. face up. You can ignore anything with a checkbox next to it; those are advances that become available after a few games. Look over your Character Card, in order to get a sense of the dice you roll for certain abilities and bonus skills you have (like Valeros' melee skill) for certain checks. Also review your powers, as those provide effects that you'll use very often in the game. You will also have a Charactr Token Card, this is to place in a Location within the game. As the game has not started yet, just place it in front of you for now. Below are the amount of cards you can draw for Valeros. Weapon 5
All the cards used must be of the Basic type. Give your cards a shuffle and place your Hand size (Veleros has a hand size of 4) into your hand, or face up in front of you as required. For this example they are in front of you. All characters have a Favoured Card Type, in Veleros’s case this is Weapon. So at this point Veleros has four cards face up in front of you, and the rest of your Character Deck is face down at the side of them. For this example you have drawn:- Mattock, Wooden Shield, Blessing of the Gods, Chain Mail. You have not drawn a Weapon card, so you do not have a Favoured Card Type in your hand. So, you now discard these four cards to one side and draw the next four cards from the top of your Character Deck. This time you get:- Dagger, Longsword, Potion of Hiding, Blessings of the Gods As you now have a Favoured Card Type (Dagger & Longsword are Weapon) you are now ready to start. Take all the discarded cards and shuffle them back into your Character Pile and place the cards a a stack, face down, at the side of your Hand Cards. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() I thought I would start this thread to give people examples of how to do various things for the game. The rule book does a good job, but sometimes it's easier to see an example. I had a few questions about making a starting hand, asked and got the answeres, so hopefully this will make things easier for beginners like myself. Example set up of a starting hand for a single character solo game. Choose a character:- Valeros has been chosen for this example. We will also use the card set from page 21 of the rulebook. Choose your cards:- Every character gets 15 cards to start with to make your Character Deck, you need to check your Character Card to see what you can and cannot use:- Valeros Weapon 5
Take all the discarded cards and shuffle them back into your Character Pile. Hopefully all the above is right, if not, someone please let me know. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() I'm not too bothered by a mat, but it's something that people can either take or leave, but I don't see the need to have an "official" one to use a rule that most wont need. If you really wanted to discard a card you really didn't want, you could always trade it at the start of the game with someone else who might find it of use. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Thanks, it was just to clarify via the pdf character sheets as it has the various weapons, spells etc. with B, C, etc at the side. Valeros example:- Dagger (B, C) Dagger +1 (1) Dart (B) Onbviously a beginner cannot use the Dasgger +1 as it is not a Basic card. Dart can be used (Basic) Dagger (B, C) This is the one where I had a slight wobble. So as long as the Dagger in the Base set and the one in the Character Add On say Basic on it, it can be used. Well, that cleared that up. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Well, I've seen the various official mats in videos, seen the blurb:- "Each player using a character mat receives a special perk: Once per game, at the start of your turn, you may discard a card to draw a card." So, opinions on that, plus...... It does not say it has to be an official mat. So, make your own!! Lol. In my case I'm not bothered by the rule, and can easily make my own mat. There are various free fan ones already available for downloading, so it's simple enough to print out and laminate. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Thanks all for solving the problem, all is clear now. Make up the deck, do a few shuffles, put out 4 cards for Valeros hand. Get:- Chain Mail, Night Watch, 2 BOG's ARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! No weapon!!!! Reshuffle Get:- BOG, Wooden Shield, Longsword, Potion of Hiding. Great, got a weapon, off I go adventuring!!! All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Thanks Fromper, that's what I thought. But again it brings up the question of why you wouldn't select a favoured card. Valerous's favoured card type is weapon. Now on his character card he can have 5 weapons, so obviously you are going to select 5 weapons and so have the favoured card. Perhaps I'm overthinking or something!!! lol. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Using the pre made character decks at the back of the rule book is no problem, but what about when you want to do your own deck? From the rulebook:- Draw Starting Hands. Each character card includes a hand size for that
So, do I have to do a random selection or can I just pick the ones I want? Again, it's just a clarification question. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() For those wondering, why a PDF? Well it's so much easier to change a PDF when errors are found than redoing a video. Running an example this way of a full solo game would give newcomers an idea of the game. It gets their attention and then........ They want the game!!!! Lol. Now, if they did a version as well with an example of a multiplayer game as well....... All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Okay, we have a PDF for the manual, but how about a downloadable PDF showing an entire Solo game? This way the game mechanics can be seen as the game plays. Yes, I know there are various YouTube videos etc. but some people don't work that well with videos. The PDF would have the cards used displayed as it went along. Just a thought. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() A quick example, if it's wrong then someone will sat so. You have your normal turn by turning over the top of the location deck. That turn goes well and you look in your hand. You have 2 BOG's So, you discard on of the BOG's and explore again. That one also goes well. Now you can either end your turn or discard the other BOG to explore once more. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() From the card meaning, to me it's:- 1. Recharge this card to reduce Combat damage dealt to you by 1 2. Banish this card to reduce all damage delt to you to 0; if you are proficient with light armors, bury this card instead. So, you have damage use 1., recharge to bottom of your stack and take 1 less damage or If you use 2., banish the card to reduce all the damage delt to you to 0, but if you are proficient with light armor, bury (put under your character card). Not proficient = banished to box - lost card until you get it back. Proficient = bury - get it back at the end of the game. All the best. Great Uncle LROG ![]()
![]() Just wondering if it will be possible to have an online library of the cards (with watermarks obviously). The reason I ask, is that people will ask various questions about certain cards, and it's easier to find them this way, than having to look through all the real life cards. This way, more advanced players can help out the newer ones. Just a thought. All the best. Great Uncle LROG Sign in to create or edit a product review. |
