I was fairly critical of the last few Pathfinder Battles sets. I am finally getting around to opening my Wrath of the Righteous minis. I have to say I am much happier with the changes made between LoG and WotR. This includes the Red dragon evolution which is much nicer then then white dragon box. Additionally, the detail on minis like Areelu Vorlesh is excellent (bracelets and ankle gear, and eyes). I still think a few of these are short of the quality in Rise of the rune lords and shattered star, but they are well painted enough for me to continue to buy them. Thanks for the changes.
Not sure if this is the right spot for this but here goes. I have been an avid mini collector for some time. I was VERY happy with the pathfinder battles products especially shattered start, which in my opinion is an awesome set. Regretfully, I have not been happy with the last few releases. Specifically, most of the minis look poorly inked and "dirty." This is in stark contrast to the very clean and detailed job on some of the rares in the SS set. The poor paint job was very evident in the undead hoard, which I thought was just for the lower production cost "builder series." (this gives a head to head comparison agains earlier sets) But, after getting the Legends of Golarion set, even the rares looked poorly done (the goblin pyros on the other hand are awesome). I was particularly disappointed in the two iconics, the hellknight, morklep, king irovetti, and queen ileosa.
I had a big bad guy sunder armor right off the paladin in the party. The armor was reduced below -10 HP. Effectively that means shredding the armor into 1" bits of metal. They kill the bad guy, hide in a cave and with make whole followed by party mending (3 casters) - presto! Like nothing happened. It seems their should be a limit to make whole or at least a material component. Struck me as really silly. Oh, and trip is totally broken/silly the way it is currently being played. Why even have a CMB if you just stack weapons/feats/buffs/etc. on your trip attempt. As soon as anyone gets greater trip, no standard bad guy can resist falling in combat. >90% of the attempts are successful - much higher then a grease spell. Couple that with free AoOs for everyone and the game gets silly...unless every fighter/ranger/rouge will be able to fly in pathfinder 2.0? |
