I've read over most of this by now and I've got to say there isn't anything in this I disliked. On a scale of hate-dislike-neutral-like-love almost everything fell between like and love with just a few being neutral. I really like the changes made to the classes as well as all of the new options. The items are also super cool. I'll also always gladly embrace new ways of restoring stamina points (this book has a few, including a serum for it!)
5/5 I hope we continue to see ideas like this for the rest of Starfinder 1e's life cycle, and I hope we can get stuff like this in Starfinder 2e! Great stuff!
A lot of the reviews here give the entire module a 1 star review for one of their issues with it, but I think overall the module is fine.
Few issues with the characters not being fully optimized for the adventure (the mechanic really shouldn't have a weapon that deals cold damage, most enemies in this are immune to or resist cold damage) but that can be pretty easily fixed by just letting that player choose a different weapon. And the soldier should have more ranks in piloting to help with the starship combat in this (I'd probably take some from survival and sense motive). Both are super easy fixes. I'm not gonna just overlook oversights like that, but honestly rating the entire module 1 star over that is kind of silly.
The story and art is really good in this book. I like that we learn about what our favoirte skittermanders are up to in the midst of the drift crisis and how it affects them.
I disagree with a lot of the negative reviews here, I had a blast running this for my party and they had a lot of fun as well! The book starts with a fun and potentially hilarious social section. My party in particular had a lot of fun engaging in a debate with a condescending university professor.
After this a short mystery helps set the scene before the players embark on a fun jungle adventure filled with exciting encounters and terrifying monsters.
All in all, this book makes for a great introduction to the planet Castrovel.
I love this thing. The lore for the different ethnic groups and ancestries in the Mwangi expanse is especially enjoyable to read. I really like the demon fighting orcs. Awesome flavor.
Whether you are running the Strength of Thousands adventure path (I also reccomend) or you want to run a campaign set in fantasy Africa, this book is a must have. Even if you don't want to do either of those things the art and lore in this book is interesting enough on its own that I believe it is worth having.
