Wow, I'm blown away by how reasonable and friendly our community is. The focus is on discussion instead of the common pitfalls of an MMO community forum. Kudos to all who've treated this as a friendly discussion. :-)

My original concern about competitive PvP being the forefront focus of Pathfinder Online is centered upon casual guilds(companies) trying to hold onto settlements. I completely understand and accept the PvP of Pathfinder Online from individual levels. But thanks to this Land Rush, from a much larger scale, the game is going to promote and favor larger and larger companies/settlements, eventually pushing players into leaving their small and/or casual communities to join larger alliances.

Does anyone see this as a major pitfall for the game in the future? Thoughts?

Of the supporters who donated money to one of the Kickstarter projects, I am among the mostly silent who are extremely disappointed. Silent because I don't participate much in the community, and disappointed because of where Goblinworks is taking Pathfinder Online.

It's becoming a project that focuses on PvP between settlements instead of the sandbox ideas that were originally marketed.

I'm married, I work full time, I have a busy life outside of gaming. I enjoyed the original Goblinworks updates of a sandbox game, but have absolutely no time to play a sandbox MMO competitively within a company/settlement. That's not what I donated for, and that's not what I can or even want to participate in.

As a community you may agree or disagree, but I just wanted to put my voice out there for Paizo/Golbinworks. I'm one of the mostly silent who rarely posts here. How many more mostly silent donators are disappointed?

I can foresee this...

Developer: "Oops, I saved that Excel file with a zero in the HP column for Rogue. Let me correct that..."

Then all the Rogue characters in the world instantly die. ;-)

Awesome, thanks everyone! :-)

Thanks! And that hex & map size thread has a lot of good info.

First, a warning. I am an MMO gamer first, and a Pathfinder gamer next. I'm still exploring the Pathfinder lore and mechanics, so it is not my goal nor my background to think from that viewpoint.

While we're still in the development stages, I'd like to put this out there to get an idea of what people like, what they expect in PFO, and ultimately what they want. A couple threads from the past touched on this from a search, but nothing recent, so please forgive me if I missed this topic somewhere else with different keyboards.

==================================
Since PFO is going to be a sandbox MMO, I'd expect the land scale to be much larger and less contained than a theme park MMO. For example: rivers are actual rivers or near the scale of actual rivers instead of little creeks in modular, theme-park worlds. Land would take a while to traverse even if not to the scale of life scale.

What I'd like is to have a vast world that is not concentrated in mob density, resource nodes, etc. I'd only like to see that within dungeons. So the actual land should be less "dense".

What I want is a world that's large and immerse. In short, I'd like to explore this world of PFO rather than grind through it.

What does Goblinworks plan on doing for world size in PFO? And for the community here, what are your thoughts on it? Thanks! :-)

Thank you Ryan! And best of luck getting PFO off the ground. Love your sandbox goals, which is why I supported the project and will be here to contribute along the way.

So I am PFO backer (did the $100 donation), but completely brand-spanking new to Pathfinder, Paizo, and of course PFO.

Questions...

1.) What is the GoblinSquad group and is that the Goblin icon over users' avatars here on the messages boards? How do I get one? And I can't seem to find any code to link my account here with the Kickstarter pledge I made. And is this tied to the backer survey supposedly coming soon?

2.) Is there any plan to move or switch to a 'purdy' forum and PFO site any time soon? Such as a nice base for the PFO community that doesn't have to visit this slow Paizo board all the time? :-)

3.) I do know that Pathfinder was created out of a modified version of the open game license from 3rd edition D&D, since there was some criticism about it. But aside from rules and mechanics, is there a good place to start out with reading up on the lore that exists so far in Pathfinder? I've seen mention of alliances/factions, the different races, and the different Pathfinder RPG products. But as an absolute noob to Pathfinder, does anyone have any good recommendations on reads/books/pdfs for an intro to Pathfinder?

My gaming community, which is multiple guilds (teams) in multiple games, has members who are interested in PFO and backed it. Several of us did the $500 guild backer, others like me when with individual donation packages. But if you'd like to check us out: http://www.hammerfistclan.com/forum/f229/pathfinder-online-intro-reference- 553962/

I'm one of three pushing the charge for PFO within my gaming community, so please, I'd love your help to visit the link, read what I have, and point out any inaccuracies about PFO I posted. That will help better represent PFO to my community.

Thanks! :-)
