Making things like good drow, claustrophobic, clean shaven dwarves and altruistic undead always seems gimmicky to me. I prefer my stereotypes.

Heh, I'm pretty sure that the outcast good drow now outnumber the evil drow. There is probably only a handful of evil drow in the underdark who are wondering where the rest went.

The elves of the forgotten realms setting had liches who weren't evil. they were essentially powerful mages who wished to continue serving the elven kingdoms in death. They had a different name for them but really they were just liches.

@hustonj No matter how you try to justify it, you really weren't being helpful. Especially your first post where you just assumed he was looking for support against his GM and slammed him for it.

You'll note that he says "Were[sic] looking for rules as written" which implies that both he and his GM are looking for the information.

Maybe if you hadn't used snarky language and instead said something like "Check out www.d20pfsrd.com and search for compulsions" then you may not have come off as unhelpful and troll-like.

Not only that but fighters can't rate threads as "the best thread ever". I've checked and once you get above CR 7 more than half the monsters in the bestiaries can rate a thread as "the best thread ever".

Barbarian's answers are some of the best I've ever seen, both in answering the question and in the way of answering.

I think it is less of a "capture the feel" and more that this was the artwork that was used and so that is what people identify with the different editions.

In 10-20 years people will likely identify the current artists as capturing the feel of Pathfinder.

I second more Larry Elmore. His art helped define the Dragonlance setting which was the first setting I got into.

Wayne Reynolds is definitely one of my favourite artists. He has done a lot of work for wizards of the coast as well. I've seen his work in 4e as well as for Magic tcg. I think he may have been one of the primary artists for Zendikar block.

I've been reading the Mars books by Burroughs and recently watched the John Carter movie and so I was inspired to make the Green Men of Mars. I like to call them Tharks which I know is just one tribe of Green Men but I like my races have a name and Thark sounds cool, at least it does to me.

They originally came in at 16 points but I switched Swordtrained down to weapon familiarity so that every Thark is able to use swords and firearms. If there are no firearms in your games then I would swap them for spears.
