This has come up in my campaign, too. My ruling was this: The material component is a drop of blood mixed with earth. So what kind of flesh it becomes depends on what kind of blood you use. A human wizard who pricks his finger for the blood gets a wall of human flesh. A wizard who uncorks his vial of cow's blood for the spell gets beef.

One of my players planned to open a restaurant using Wall of Stone and Stone to Flesh to get free meat.

I took a look at HeroMachine, and didn't much care for it. Definitely going to try the modded Skyrim route.

Thanks, all!

I have a question about the Spell Power mechanic (which I absolutely love, BTW): If a character has a ring of wizardry, does that get factored in when calculating your spell power?

Dot.

I'm looking for a video game. Not to actually play. Just to create characters in.

I've done the whole MMORPG thing in the past, and back when I was playing City of Heroes, I fell in love with their character creation engine. At one point I had all eight slots on EVERY server filled with level 1 characters I'd never played, just so that I could fool around with costume design.

Right now I'm storybreaking this thing I want to write, and I'd really like to have character images to look at, but I have ZERO skills where the visual arts are concerned. No drawing for me.

So what I'm looking for is some kind of game/program/magic-faerie that will let me put together images of D&D/Pathfinder-like medieval characters. I'd like a good selection of races (but especially human and half-orc), and a good selection of different clothing options.

As always, any and all help appreciated.

Had time to download the pdf, haven't had time to read. So: My first DOT!

54.) Kidnapper’s Handkerchief
This handkerchief is white on one side and black on the other
This odd little handkerchief is beloved by abductors and kidnappers throughout the realms. A ransom demand can be written on the white side of the handkerchief as if it were paper. The black side can be wrapped around a severed finger, ear, or other small body part, which is then protected by a Gentle Repose effect. And finally, open being tied shut around the body part with string, twine, or a leather thong, the whole bundle teleports to whomever is most likely to pay for the victim’s safe return.

55.) The Apprentice’s Handkerchief
This blue silk handkerchief is embroidered with stars and crescent moons in gold thread.
This handkerchief grants it’s user the ability to read magic and detect magic (as the spells) so long as it is held in the user’s hand.
Rumors abound about other types of apprentice’s handkerchiefs, but the read/detect magic version is the only one commonly seen.

56.) Secret Purse
This unremarkable-looking handkerchief contains a small extradimensional storage space that holds up to 101 coins of any type.

57.) Knucklechief
This white handkerchief is embroidered with little fists in brass thread
When wrapped around your fingers before making a fist, this handkerchief augments your punches as if you were wearing brass knuckles.

58.) Little Toy Cloak
When tied around the neck of a properly anthropomorphic child’s toy (a doll, a plush animal, a wooden soldier, etc.), this handkerchief brings the object to life as if animate objects had been cast. This effect lasts for up to 10 minutes at a time, and is usable three times a day.

51.) Zobo’s Useful Handkerchief
When this single magical handkerchief is sticking out from a pocket and the command word is spoken, pulling it out will reveal that the end is tied to a similar handkerchief of another color… and that one is tied to yet another, and so on until finally, a 100’ length of tied handkerchiefs is revealed. Using this improvised rope grants a +5 bonus on climb checks. (When you’re done with it, it gets stuffed, one handkerchief length at a time, back into your pocket. When the final handkerchief in the string is tucked into the pocket, it once again becomes a single hanky.)

Are the Cure _____ Wounds spells intended to remove the effects of injury, or to magically speed the healing process to it's conclusion? Basically, I'm wondering if damage healed by these spells leave scars.

No. (At least, I don't think so. Maybe?) What I'm talking about is the Prestige Points from the Ultimate Campaign book. You get them as rewards for adventures, and you also get one each time your fame increases by a point. There's a list of awards that you can 'buy' with PP -- most of them being various titles that grant special abilities.

Just discovered the 'Reputation and Fame' section in Ultimate Campaign, and I'm curious if there are more awards you can spend PP on from other books.

I'm hoping to find an award that grants you a bonus to your Leadership score, but beyond that, I'm just curious as to what all you can do with PP.

As always, thanks in advance.

I just discovered the Bookmark of Deception, and my very first thought was to use it backwards.

The bookmark's entry in Ultimate Equipment states that it alters the book that it's in so that it appears to be another book, even upon a thorough reading. It also states that the apparent book is determined upon crafting.

So, with that in mind, what happens if you live in a society that has bans on certain types of information or literature? Can you write an erotic novel, then make a bunch of bookmarks of deception that turn any book into THAT book?

Hide the bookmark in your desk, and then when nobody's around, slip it into the pages of the holy book of the God of Censorship and turn it into "The Adventures of Della the Lusty Halfling"?

Or if you've got the extra spending money but very little extra space in your backpack, carry one book, and have a wizard craft a whole bunch of Bookmarks of Deception for you, and have yourself a portable library.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I was just skimming through the "Ultimate Equipment" guide, and right there in their animal section it lists a duck for sale. And reading the entry on it I discover... that you're supposed to use the raven stats for ducks.

So, not only is it what I was/am going to be doing, but it's actually official. Huh.

(It also lists other farm animals like chickens and elephants. But it gives no info on stats for chickens. Good thing I wanted a duck, right?)

Well, it's like they always say: If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it's obviously a raven with no talons and a dull beak. (Sigh.)

So that's what I'll go with, then. I thank you, my character thanks you, and my character's rav-, uh, duck thanks you.

(Quack!)

I'm currently putting a character together, and he's just crying out for a duck familiar. Are there stats for a duck anywhere? Both the animal itself, as well as possible familiar bonuses? A duck, or even a goose? Official, 3rd party, homebrew, I'll take whatever I can get.

Any and all help appreciated!
