Male Human Ranger 2

Also guys, if you want, we have a facebook group. Feel free to add me (Andy Perrine). I'm the one who goes to UCLA.

Male Human Ranger 2

Okay, got the map of things everyone should know up. Feel free to save a copy and mark it all to hell, just PLEASE DEAR GOD do not Metagame. The penalties will be swift and harsh.

Male Human Ranger 2

Okay, got everything going a bit early. Just post up so that we're all there and ready for a nice big speechy thing.

Male Human Ranger 2

Ok cool. I'm in US West, but I will be free a lot (a lot a lot after about 2 weeks from now, ESPECIALLY after July 2nd), so yeah, it will be slow for the first month, but hopefully it will pick up after that.

Male Human Ranger 2

Ok cool. How would you guys feel about starting in approx 24 hours by the way?

Male Human Ranger 2

Good news everyone! Appearantly I will have electric poer in the evenings, and get signal rather well in the Owens Valley. So I might be able to post a little bit each night, even if I can't start the game yet.

Seveal other patrons start wandering over to observe the card game. Whispering rumors abound as people try to discern which of these strangers will win.

Male Human Ranger 2

Alright, well, just heading off on my field trip now. Hope nothing blows up in the next few days; and after Sunday, hope to see you all are wrapping things up in the Maid before I have to have saps come down on your heads.

Male Human Ranger 2

Ok, cool. So far everything is within my plans, though running one ship will be an... interesting challenge by itself. I'm definitely going to increase the crew size, however.

@Sharice: expect that to pop up.

"I'll have a Fruit Juice please", he states placing his hand on the bar/table with coin underneath.

The bartender squints oddly at the Hobgoblin, then turns to his work, and serves up a strangely pleasant mix of spiced fruit juices.

Male Human Ranger 2

Ok, to adress these things beforehand: NOTE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS TOO SINCE IT IS IMPORTANT FOR EVERYTHING:

#1 involves me making up another ship (done), staffing it with extra NPC crew (Done and something I would do anyways) and officers (Easy), and just having it sail alongside the first ship yo're on, and having half of the PCs be assigned to that ship. That's all it would do in the first part of the adventure
[somewhat spoilers start here, so yeah. if you've read the AP description, you should know what's ahead, or at least predict it.]

Spoiler:

HOWEVER, it means that there is a second ship that, when you encounter it, captured along with the one that you are, and it means that there is a reason for more NPC sailors to be near the island, which can possibly be very important later, which I will not be too specific about later because that IS real spoilers.

Either way, its not any harder for me by all that much.

#2 also somewhat extends to whole-party encounters too.

For #3.... Can I also get everyone's opinion on NPC-PC and NPC-NPC interactions for stuff about #3? Because honestly, as of late, my games tend to range from a light-hearted high school drama parody to Dark, gritty struggles for the face of the universe involving torture and assassinations. I enjoy doing both and could be somewhere between moderate and GRIMDARK here. So... yeah.

Also, Taize, if you could tell me what kind of relationship (PC-PC, PC-NPC or NPC-NPC, or a combination of the three) you specified in your above post?

Male Human Ranger 2

Hey guys,

I've already said so hopefully plenty of times, but I'd like to reiterate that after noon about tomorrow, I'm not going to b in town for the next 5 days. If you have something really really important, please tell me before then, and don't be too surprised when I don't respond too soon.

That being said, I have some questions for you all:

1) Do you all want to be on one ship, or can I make a second ship in Capt. Harrigan's fleet to put some of you on? I'm equally up for both.

2) Will anyone have problems with somewhat poorly written treasure distribution? The current stuff if just too detailed for me to match without a large outpouring of effort, and although I certainly could, it might just be a distraction from the rest of the adventure.

3) How much intrigue does everyone want? Drama? Action? Any requests for Romance? If you want something in the campaign, now is the time to say so (even though I could shoe-horn it in later, its so much better to plan it all beforehand).

Thanks, and see you all in a bit less than a week!

Yep. And for everyone who ordered drinks:

Soon enough after ordering (it was a surprisingly busy night after all, several ships evidently being in port), a somewhat burly woman in a maid outfit gets around to serving you the 'specialty house spiced rum,' as she calls it.

Male Human Ranger 2

You know what? This is absolutely fine, since all this is is some stuff to get warmed up; it shouldn't have that great an effect on the game, only means that you guys don't have to spend so much time socializing to meet and get to know one another when we actually start, so we could actually get on with the AP.

Lucia, feel free to GM that since I'll be gone most of the time and you seem to love doing administrative stuff, just be sure to do one thing:

Spoiler:
Serve everyone at least one dish of spiced food or spiced rum; feel free that if they're not asking for anything to have a random stranger buy it for them, and insist that they consume it.

I'll try to get you guys some character questions too, once I get those worked out.

--Ace

Male Human Ranger 2

Lucia:

1) That's fine, go ahead and buy something else.

2) Ehhh... I don't see why not. It is certainly within the spirit of several similarly phrased feats. Do note, that you will not gain any more summoner abilities (and I will have to determine what is inherent to the eidolon and what is inherent to the summoner, but can't do that until I know how far you're going to take it). So yeah.

At least, I hope I'm supposed to be here.

well I planned to announce it tomorrow when it will have been well more than 72 hours that he has ignored my PM, especially since I've said in several places that I VANISH OFF THE FACE OF THE INTERNET WEDS, I was going to announce it then, but yeah. Your character is far better than his, and far more interesting. So yeah... he's still not done it in over 50ish hours, so :P

Also just to ask you the same: Do you think there will be many hugely disruptive problems with Taze's alignment in this party?

Male Human Ranger 2

Yeah... well I'm sure you guys wouldn't want a 5 day pause. Plus you'll have HW to fill out for men that I'll post here then.

Male Human Ranger 2

Hey everyone, Starting the discussion thread now. So take all that pre-game RP stuff and move it over here-ish, since we're no longer recruiting and yeah.

Yeah, sorry about that. My hands were kinda tied, with 23 total people applying. I mean, I've been told I'm insane in about 6 different ways by people for accepting even 10; do be confident though that yours was close (and certainly would be a useful contribution to the party).

However, depending on how this works out.... I could potentially accept more players on later, especially if I get an assistant GM.

Speaking of that, if you're so down on your luck, why not try running a game? Its usually what I do when I can't find a game to play in, and it lets you use all of your characters you've made up and have been just dying to use :D

>.> I should make a discussion thread soon, shouldn't I.....

Taize Vesper wrote:

Just a quick question...in case I'm accepted: Can I use a CP to buy an extra trait?

For future reference: CP may be used to get the bonus feat extra traits, giving you two extra traits.

EDIT: Also sent out a thing to all players, except one who I'll see later today. Hope to hear back from most of you, and if you didn't make it, its not finalised yet, so there's stil a little hope left.

Actually I have always absolutely LOVE the magus class, especially its versatility in that you aren't totally dead if someone goes and charges your rear ranks. I just consider it nowhere near as casty as a full caster.

Yeah; I have my own list too, but its FAAAAAR more complex since I have just roles, like 'Sneaky', 'Thief', 'Survival', the sadly neglected 'Knowledge' and everyone's favorite, 'Im not going to bother with you because your backstory does not interest me, or it doesn't have anywhere I can tie in extra stuff just for your character, or it would clash with other things.' Also my table has measures of how much someone will fill that role, so for the players I like, they are in multiple categories for most of them.

Also, while we're discussing these classifications, Magi tooootally count as casters. They're only about 2/3 wizard (reduced to 3/4 when I saw their limited spells, reduced to 2/3 since they focus on touch spells and not on being a 'controller'). The rest 1/3 is fighter, because they can do STUPID lots of damage, even though they're relatively frail (At 5th level my one friend kept pulling off 100+ damage combos; he was TERRIFYING.)

Also coming ever closer to completion; might have results as early as tonight for who did and didn't make it, if that's ok with everyone.

Also Sharice: All are good, except the herolab thing, which is why I do my sheets by hand.

I were one. (Sunny)

Who else? Maybe we c'n get a better 'feel' fer who's who in'a zoo? (^_^)

Don't worry I got a list from the other thread; also, I've closed off recruitment already, its just a wee bit too many players already (because really, I do have a responsibility to choose a feasible party for you guys too).

Not for grammar and. Spelling; I'm lookkng for mainly the content of the character.

I'd love to get in on a Skull & Shackles game, but all I have for now is a concept. I'll post it for a chance at a slot if you do start a second game...or know someone who is going to start one.

Taize Vesper; Samsaran Cleric; true neutral (I want to take Versatile Channeler); or, if allowed the Divine Channeler from Rite Publishing

She follows no god/dess at this time, but will have the Chosen of Besmara trait; she has just recently reincarnated here in the Shackes; she beleives that something in a previous live brought this about and that she has a destiny assigned by the Gods.

Divine channeler is fine; Are you sure you want her to follow no deity and why would you do so?

Brendan Voll wrote:
I am ready and like this character concept for a brawler.

You also forgot to say what class you are.

Also I don't think you need to, tiberius.

Llaelian: I'm not familiar with that archetype; isn't one of the basic ones essentially a spell-less ranger anyways? O.o

Lucia: Its fine to me, just so long as the eidolon continues to be 'form fitting.' If you give it some kind of advanced chameleoning powers then it can disguise you, bbut your physical form would look like the eidolons shape over you. Also, so long as you understand that it won't inherently make you completely unrecognizable (similar height and slightly bulkier (if at all) build, same gait and posture, etc) then we're good. Also, You're going to have to keep gaps for eye holes too, or otherwise have it be completely clear around your eyes, or you start taking sight and/or perception check penalties (and this will also be another way to identify you maybe).

As for backstory, Id like at least 350 words, but if you're going to go significantly over 1000, then provide a summary somewhere. For personality you should have at least 200 words, or 100 if I can have some confidence that you're really good at TPing that personality (because your character should be more interesting than his stat block). Appearance is the same. Feel free to go over these limits though, but do realise it won't help you that much extra to write another novella (though if you want to please do, since I would love to read it over the summer, just don't Old Man Henderson it).

If that's too long... what I'm more looking for is quality of writing in a few short paragraphs, not quantity. This will also be how I view posts.

Edit: Bards may be an exception, since they WOULD view the world with purple prose. And maybe wizards too. But only if I can feel like I can get inside the characters head better.

Yes, Lucia, that's perfectly fine. Welcome aboard.

1. Alignment restrictions?

2. How long will recruiting last?

1) Since this is a game where you'll be pirates, I won't place any alignment restrictions. However, do realise that you do have to work along with your party, and that if you're an evil bastard people will treat you like an evil bastard (unless you're just that good at bluff. THat is, until the ones come...

2) I... would imagine it might be very short, since several players already have made character sheets. HOWEVER, I won't start it AT LEAST until I get back from a field trip that has required many hours of previous preparation, so you've got until at least the 26th of May.

EDIT: On further thought to answer #2: I'd like my cast finalised before I leave on the 23rd of May, so it would be good to get in character sheets before then. At the current rate I shouldn't have a problem.

Sorry for not posting my character earlier, I already made him though, just really have a hard time navigating these forums. Some basic stuff follows:

Hemmet Jasento (Human Druid 1)
Hemmet was an orphan, the end result of a torrid love between the valiant crusader Ser Godfrey Jasento the Valliant and the fair maiden he took as his bride, Miss Evelyn. He remembers little of them, save that his father died as valliantly as he lived protecting his mother from a passing band of orcs in a forest clearing near the site where Ser Godfrey had chosen to make his home when he was but 3 years old. Due to his motheers loving efforts, Hemmet was safe in his hiding spot, to later be found by a passing druid, who took the toddler back to his circle, where it was decieed the boy should be brought up in their traditions.

And with the druids he was brought up. He came to love the forest as his parents had, and the foundation of earth beneath it, and venerated them properly. However, his soul always ccalled to the sky, to fly with the birds, to feel the mists of the clouds against his skin, feel the wind against his face. For this he has trained; yet, he never could come to devote his whole heart to study, as the orcs came to be a growing problem, ravaging the forest and killing its animals. As such Hemmet has put his druidly duties on hold to try to find help against these scourges who desecrate the forest.

I shall post my interest here, and come up with a character by sometime (probably tonight).

I am thinking of playing a druid.

Male Human Ranger 2

Sorry for doing this in-game, but I no longer am employed, and have several other pressing issues in my life right now. I will have to drop this game. The best of luck to all of you.

Male Human Ranger 2

[ooc]Blast, just realised I didn't post my mount T__T However it wont take long to rebuild, and it acts on my initiative anyways. Well here goes.

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

Male Human Ranger 2

Eladrin, seeing the others have started searching for a trail, goes off and helps them to the best of his ability.

Survival (aiding Ian), tracking: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

Male Human Ranger 2

"Indeed. These are sub-optimal conditions, and we should all work together to find where these people have disappeared to."

Alright, game should be this coming sunday. So far no one new has added me to skype, nor submitted a character sheet for approval. Anyone still in this even?

Sunday will be fine with me.

Sorry for not saying anything, but I've had a very busy yet surprisingly productive weekend; just been busy since finals are coming up soon. I am working on my character though, and have a lot of options picked out.

Oh, will this campaign need much squeezing down medium-sized coridors (IE, can I have an awesome horse with 1 level Cavalier, 1 level Druid and 3 levels of an oracle power?) and how outdoorsy will this campaign be?

Also what armor options are available for Druids?

SO, I am interested too.

Full and medium BAB GO!

6d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 6, 3, 5) = 21
6d10 ⇒ (8, 8, 2, 2, 3, 8) = 31

By GM edict, re-rolling one level in Pally:

1d6 ⇒ 1

My levels are:
Hihg: Barbarian 2, Fighter 1, Ranger 1, Cavalier 1, Gunslinger 1
Med: Oracle 3, Cleric 2, Druid 1

I am the healer. There should be no argument about this.

Commence with the injury!

Yes, that it is.

Sorry for not re3sponding, I've been very, very busy (late late midterms and finals are upcoming; however I should be rlatively done by the first session.

If anyone is still paying attention, the game is still continuing on in this thread:

http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/community/gaming/connection/rotRLAdven turePathReRecruitment&page=1#1

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to get a RotRL game off the ground, but because of life events, my previous recruitment has been insufficient (See thread: http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/community/gaming/connection/lookingFor OnlinePathfinderGroup&page=1#49 ). Any player from that thread is welcome here, you just have to post "I'm still in" or the like and you're ok. Ninjapirateassassin, you're already in.

The regularly scheduled time for this is 6-12 midnight CST on sundays. Next sunday (memorial day weekend) is busy for me, so everything should get going the first sunday of June, on the fifth. We use skype to communicate, and TTopRPG to actually play the games (or, if sufficient player demand, maptools).

So, for the new players: I'm looking for a group of 3-6 (preferably 4-5), and older players do get priority. Character creation is as follows:

-20 Point buy
-Your character must have a Varisian or Sandpoint regional trait
-anything from Core, APG or ultimate magic is allowed by default (I can still say otherwise if someone tries to break the system)
-Playtest classes and things fom other supplements are allowed, just make sure you tell me
-You may only take 2rd party or 3.5 things may only be taken with my pewrmission.
-Your backstory must contain a good reason as to why you are coming to Sandpoint. No "I was just walking by the area" BS.

Alright, that being said, any additional questions should be either posted in this thread, or directed to my skype (acecipher1). If I have any updates I will post them here, so do watch this thread if you do sign up.

In other news, I actually am up for running everything today at the appointed time, so hopefully everyone will be free and online for it.

Yeah... sorry about that, I was unable to be online, since I had been selected for Vigil at my OA's potlatch. If you don't understand what that means, that's OK, just understand it is not something to pass up. Next sunday, however, should be much better, and I should be under much less stress following the completion of several midterms this week.
