Sorry guys, I need to bow out. Still having massive computer issues at home, I am posting from the public library here. I haven't identified the real cause of my problems (machine shuts down spontanouesly with bluescreens and whatnot) and therefore I can't be online on a reliable schedule for this. Hey guys, sorry to keep you waiting for so long. My PC broke last Thursday and thanks to the holidays I haven't been able to get new parts until now (don't have a fancy smartphone or tablet). If possible, I'd still like to get into the game, but if it's too late I understand and apologize for the inconvenience.

"You didn't happen to come close to the Sanos Forest, or the Yondabakari River, on your way here, did you?" he asks Jarkralzak after his exhange of courtesies with Tor. "I hail from that area, and I'd be interested in anything you know about kobolds in Nybor and Wartle."

"That is an... uncommon way of thinking. Even for my kind." Zrax'ir responds and pushes his empty keg away so he has a better field of view. "But uncommon isn't bad, maybe there can be something done with a barrel salt or two, like posing as a merchant to create a diversion?" He scratches one of his little teeth.

To Jarkralzak he nods in approval after examining his martial gear. "You look like someone who can knock a bear off his track, although I dare guess that moving silently isn't your specialty, right?" He makes a face as if this would cause him some form of physical suffering.

"Not to be rude or anything, but they all look the same to me... although I'm sure she's not here." Zrax'ir answers to Tor, but he doesn't sound very convinved of himself. When Talathel joins them, he listens with his head cocked. "I know that feeling, although from entirely different circumstances... I didn't participate all that much in the festivities, sorry. But since you are here, have you seen Shalelu around?"

Zrax'ir assumes Shalelu won't be around this early, since he imagines her being more comfortable outside the village than within, which can of course be a false assumption

You could either just post something in the old thread, or you make a new recruitment thread and link it to this game by editing your Campaign Info tab and unsetting the current recruitment.

I don't right now, sorry. If you want to replace missing players, maybe you just re-open recruitment? If the wizard and the magus are indeed out of the game, you could just recruit someone with arcane oomph, as the rest of the group looks pretty ok to me in terms of roles (not that I know what RotRL demands of us, just going with standards here). Or we just proceed with the current cast.

Please don't. I'm just unsure what to do, since my last attempts to do something were pretty much swept under the rug, and you focused a lot on Calin, leaving the rest of us a bit in the dark.

Zrax'ir will participate in the festivities, but just barely. After trying to get a mug of dwarven brew he'll try and find this useless farmer that send hm on a wild goose chase. If he manages to find him, he'll rant a bit.

"So, the Sandpoint Devil, eh? Apsu's bloodied scales, that wasn't the Devil, that was a stupid bear you send me after! Granted, he is not the smallest judging by his marks, but still - a bear! Since when can bears fly? And all the other stories I heard about the Sandpoint Devil? That was a waste of valueable time for sure, time I could have spend tracking the real beast. Do you know anything about the area you live in? Bears... I swear... i paaftë idiot i, mund të arrijë ariu ju deri në mut."

After that, he'll try to get another mug of dwarven brew and make some (friendly!) smalltalk with Shalelu, if possible, since he heard about her wilderness skills.

Zrax'ir stays with Calin, in case something comes out of it. "Maybe they have seen something on their way. If they are indeed from Kyonin, which is far away from the stories I heard." He checks his gear while waiting, and goes even so far as to sharpen his knife with a small stone.

Zrax'ir would like to chase the goblins for a short distance, but only so far as to get an idea which directions they are retreating. He'll stop within visibility range of Sandpoint, trying to see the goblins or trying to find their tracks.

Either way, he'll then turn around and hurry back to the town, telling the others what he found (or didn't found). "Sneaky buggers they are for sure, but I don't get this thing about dogs. A dog is a dog, some big, some crazy, some not. Why would you kill a dog that doesn't pose a challenge?"

Zrax'ir doesn't understand the joke at all, but if it is something goblins find funny it's probably something really bad, so he tries to move so he is exactly 30 feet away from the speaker and fires another arrow.

Ok this map is killing my crappy internet connection (it will probably take some time before I have DSL back), so I will act according to your descriptions and someone else might just create a marker for Zrax'ir and move him around - I just can't atm.

You just create/download an image you want, then drag&drop it onto the map. GoogleDrive will upload it and you can adjust it like any other element (resize, copy, whatever). In my old online game we just drew circles with the toolbar, filled them with invidual colors and put a letter/number in to identify everone.

Zrax'ir makes a Perception check to identify a leader among the goblins and shoots an arrow at him. If no leader presents himself, Zrax'ir fires at the goblin with the least amount of cover.

Zrax'ir hurries through the crowds, wary of the bigger men who might kick him accidentally. Earlier this day, he had gone out to take a look at markings on a tree, supposedly left by the Sandpoint Devil. After follwing his vague description for the better part of two hours, all he had found was a tree marked by a bear. His way back was accompanied by lots of curses and recitings of all grim and horrible deaths he could remember from tha tales of Apsu.

When the voices increase and the smell of cooked food spreads on the plaza, Zrax'ir climbs on top of an unused table to get a better view of what's going on. He watches how father Zantus announced lunch, and smiles a small feral smile at the sight of children chasing some of the butterflies. Good instincts, but they always seem to lose them when getting bigger....

It is then that he notices an unusual group gathering in front of him, conducting a small meeting within this big meeting. One of them, Calin, he had asked about the Devil a few days back, and he his posture indicated that he knew how to fight. Zrax'ir jumps off the table and walks to the group, avoiding body contact with passersby.

"Bright day, sirs. Sorry to bother you like this, but you haven't seen a farmer named Grump around by chance? He gave me directions to the latest sighting of the Sandpoint Devil, and I want to return... the favor." The kobold looks to the side, cursing quietly. "Ky idiot i mallkuar të korrupsionit në hijen e krimit"

I have RotRL maps, but only for the original 3.5 version (the Map Folio). I don't know how compatible they are with Anniversary Edition though.

Apsu teaches that everyone who checks in needs to be checked out. Zrax'ir is so confused sometimes, but he tries his best.

Since I plan on using his patron deity for several references, I will quote some information below, but we can safely assume that Zrax'irs knowledge of Apus's teaching is somewhat distorted. To say the least.

Nonsense. Apsu teaches that even those without teeth can bite, even if it looks silly and pathetic. Apsu also teaches that whoever fights against an overwhelming challenge earns lots of honor. So we should have lots of honor from the start.

I think PbP is a format where you don't have to bring the most optimized characters to the table, since it emphazises character interaction more than combat (usually). I mean, I am a friggin' kobold, and a ranger at that. Try selling that to an optimizer :)

Zrax'ir sneaking in. Hello all!


I changed Zrax'ir to the Trapper archetype, gaining trapfinding* and losing spells in the process. I also shifted his mental abilites around so I can actually have spells as a sorcerer further down the line, but the rest is still the same character. Sorry for taking so long.

*If that becomes a problem because of another character being a rogue, there is the Skirmisher archetype that grants something similar to rogue tricks, but doesn't reach into rogue territory otherwise. But with Zrax'ir's background I think trapper is very appropriate.


Zrax'ir doesn't mind a second band of adventurers, as long as Tor is in his group since Favored Terrain now applies to his location. The ale has nothing to to with his decision, just because Zrax'ir has a tiny, cold-blooded heart doesn't mean he can't have friends. And ale.


Wait, there is ale that makes your armor strong? Nobody told Zrax'ir!

Apsu teaches that lots of fire makes everyone agree with you, so roasted magical beast is by definition very agreeable. Strange, two-legged cat...


Or when we are feasting on some delicious magical beast, roasted. Which is probably directly before we are hung over, so whatever.


Wait, what? I thought the lists applied to both small and medium creatures, with only the weight being different.


Shalafi, would you mind if somewhere further down the road (big if) Zrax'ir would multiclass with something arcane, probably sorcerer, and then aim for Dragon Disciple? I just re-checked the available options and I think it would be a fun character.

I ask because if that's ok I think I'll look for a ranger archetype without spellcasting, to not overload the character.


I think nobody here was serious :) Except about the ale, there can be no misunderstandings about that.


If Tor thinks Zrax'ir is weird, he apparently never met a gnome. But Zrax'ir will join Tor's dislike for goblins and orcs. With elves, Zrax'ir is still unsure... their language sounds silly, and they weave necklaces from flowers. He never met giants, but once he made his camp within a giant's footprint.


After some consideration, Zrax'ir likes Tor a lot, and will treat the ground he walks on as Favored Terrain.


@Amren: You're saying that like it would be a bad thing - although, clumsy dwarves are no good to Zrax'ir in the wilderness, too much noise and too much ale. But Zrax'ir likes ale. A conundrum...


Heaving read up a little bit on the Mythic paths, I fear I would have to roll a dice, should it come to an ascension... several options are quite intriguing :) If Zrax'ir gets chosen as a PC, that is.


I only have the old version of RotRL as PDF, not sure how helpful those maps are. Probably not at all.
