![]() If you have ranks in the skills below you can make a check and know the following facts about the Blot from the highest DC your check equals or exceeds, and from all those lower than it: Knowledge (arcana)
Spoiler:
Riiddleport has a long history of mysterious phenomena connected to its infamous Cyphergate Riddle—the long-sought hidden purpose of the stone arch that rises over the harbor. Old accounts tell of strange lights moving in the sky and sounds issuing forth from it without explanation. The manifestation of a shadow in the sky is something new, though. DC 16: Spoiler:
No known magical traditions explain the existence of the hovering shadow, and it does not bear the trappings of any known spell. DC 20: Spoiler:
The wizard Argentus Blakely (a noted Cyphergate scholar) postulated that the Blot is some sort of convergence for focusing arcane energies. He has yet to prove his hypothesis but is running several experiments to test its validity Knowledge (local)
Spoiler:
A local cyphermage and stargazer Argentus Blakely first noticed the Blot before it was visible to the naked eye. He called it an "atmospheric shadow" and it was subsequently named for him as it became more visible. DC 14: Spoiler:
Blakely flew up to investigate the eerie shadowy Blot a week after it appeared and reported that the interior was strangely cold but that the Blot itself seemed no different than a regular cloud, apart form it's unusual color. DC 18: Spoiler:
Blakely's been out of town lately, on a long journey to Magnimar and thence to Korvosa to research the Blot in the libraries there. In his absence, the Order of Cyphers has been leading the charge on additional localized investigations of the Blot. Knowledge (nature)
Spoiler:
The Blot has no known analogy in nature DC 15: Spoiler:
Birds and flying creatures appear to avoid the air space around the Blot. Although it resembles a dark cloud, the wind seems to have no real effect on it. DC 21: Spoiler: The movements of the Blot seem to be related to the tides - it is at its largest at high tide and its smallest at low tide, although periodically, changes in its size seem to occur at random as well. ![]()

![]() I would like to take a crack at a DMing a Second Darkness PbP game if there is enough interest. We would use Pathfinder Beta Rules and anything from the Golarion setting is allowed. 20 point buy for abilities. Max hit points for 1st level, for each level after your choice to take average rounded up hit points or gamble and roll. Maximum starting gold for the class. Pick traits as described in the Second Darkness Player's Guide (I highly recommend that players have access to this book - unfortunately it is not a free download). I would like everyone to be able post daily (give or take). How you roll is up to you, you can use invisiblecastle or real dice. To speed up encounters I propose that I make initiative rolls, passive Perception rolls and perhaps attack of opportunity rolls. What do you think? I will keep this thread open for a few days then I will choose no more than six characters. A caveat - although I have been playing in a few PbP games for a while, I am a relatively inexperienced PbP DM, so bear with me. ![]()
![]() The town Falcon's Hollow rests perilously close to the infamous Darkmoon Wood, and Droskar's Crag casts shadow of gloom over the desperate souls who call Falcon's Hollow home. Falcon's Hollow is little more than a lumber camp, being entirely owned by the Lumber Consortium, who cut down logs in Darkmoon Wood and ship them off to more civvilized regions to the south. ![]()

![]() In play-testing Alpha 3, our group had some confusion about the bit of luck Luck domain ability, specifically when the luck runs out and you can no longer roll two dice for one attack. The rule says: Pathfinder RPG Alpha 3 wrote: The target must decide to use this ability before rolling the dice. This effect fades after 3 rounds or when the reroll is used. I thought this could be interpreted two ways: 1. The luck runs out after the target decides to roll two dice for a single attack, regardless of what the result of either roll is. 2. The target can keep rolling two dice for each attack until he actually uses the second roll to resolve the attack (or thee rounds elapses). ![]()

![]() If you start out as a multi-classed (character level higher than 1st), it is not clear if a human's favored class is from first class level taken or if it can be any class (one of the class levels taken after the first class). For example, I started a character as a Rogue 1/Sorcerer 3 and I assumed the level of Rogue was the first one taken. However I wanted the character's favored class to be Sorcerer. Can I do this? The rules as written aren't clear. |
