Droskar was born in the Breckwood to a loving mother and father. When he came of age, his father took him to the Western horn of the woods to speak with an elder shaman of their clan, to receive his blessing and learn his place among their people.
However, when they arrived, the shaman's home had just been sacked by slavers from the Icetooth Range. His father fought valiantly to protect him, but in the end was overwhelmed and the two of them were taken as slaves.
The pair were quickly and quietly smuggled out of the region, and once in the homeland of the slavers were separated and sold. Droskar never saw his father again, and was put to heavy manual labor fit for a creature of his strength.
This went on for several years, and his spirit waned as each one passed. Eventually he was taken back into the region of his ancestors on a new "collection" run. This time, the hunters he accompanied had their eyes on another prize. They came across a fire-haired dwarven woman and her tamed rocling. They saw the bird as a huge pay day, as it was not yet fully grown and much of the work of taming it had clearly been done already. However, the woman was not willing to relinquish the creature.
In the fight, Droskar's owner was slain, but the sheer numbers of the slavers were very nearly going to overwhelm to woman and her companion. A fire was rekindled in Droskar in the shadows of his homeland that night, and he picked up his master's weapons and came thundering to her aid. The three of them managed to turn the tide and eradicate the group of slavers, and Droskar vowed to forever protect the woman that saved him and awakened his spirit.
