With that, Yuranosuke focuses his attention on the beast.
Then he kicks the door open and bolts towards it.

Yuranosuke joins Ayane in sneaking up to the teahouse, taking the next step to actually enter and take a closer look.
Yuranosuke joins in tracking the group, his skill effortlessly helping lead them to their "quarry." When he hears their side of the story, he pinches the bridge of his nose. "You were going to elope." He sighs. "Love is a powerful force. It can even revive the dead, as Shizuru revived Tsukiyo. But your love is not that strong yet. And you can't survive alone, not with monsters roving the town."
I have RETURNED from the fairy-tale kingdom of the southern lands (i.e. Florida), and shall begin catching up post-haste!
Yuranosuke twirls his shuan-ji and ends in a ready stance to emphasize Ayane's point, his glare unflinching as he stares the jinkin's down and waits for them to blink.
Just an announcement, I'll be joining my family on a trip to Florida from the 11th to the 20th, so please feel free to bot my character in my absence.
Yuranosuke bows to the kappas again as they depart and just nods at the others' discussions, following to the next building to search. Seeing these jinkins have captives as well, and children at that, makes him as angry as Shandari. He plants the butt of his shuan-ji on the floor with an audible thump and gives them a glare no less stormy than his sylph friend.

Yuranosuke folds his arms and lets the more eloquent members of the group speak.
Yuranosuke follows Kwan into the baths, after blinking in surprise at very real kappa in The Happy Kappa, does the polite thing and bows low. "It is an honor and a pleasure to meet you," he says. He doubted they'd be foolish enough to return the gesture and in doing so empty their head-bowls. Enough people had told the story of that old trick that the kappa had to be wise to it, but those same stories taught that good manners was still one of your best defenses against a bored kappa looking for an excuse to make mischief.
Yuranosuke nods politely to Kwan's explanations to De-Ge. Then he pauses. "You mentioned "guests" that you're afraid are going to eat you. Who are these "guests" and do you need our help to evict them?"
"And the smile is reflected in Tsukiyo's gentle glow," Yuranosuke replies with a nod and a smile. He joins Kwan in taking the lead, creeping towards the building.
"I'd suggest checking the Happy Kappa first. It's right there and the safer we can make our immediate surroundings, the sooner we can push deeper," Yuranosuke says as they begin to strategize.
Yuranosuke takes a deep breath as the battle ends. After the group uncovers the items in the apron's pockets, he frowns. "Who did this apron belong to?" he muses. "Likely whoever it was was their first victim."
"Thank you, Xu Jiang," Yuranosuke replies before turning to the remaining cookware. "The time for those kinds of questions will be later." He rushes towards the swarm.
Then he tries to bat the utensils out of the air and into the mud with his shuan ji!
Yuranosuke struggles and attempts to escape.
He twists and turns inside the cloth until finally he extricates himself!
Not-so-random question; what IS the Escape DC and what kind of roll do I need to actually MAKE for it?
Yuranosuke has barely enough time to gulp a breath of air down before the apron wraps around its head.
"GAH!" Yuranosuke cries as he endures the culinary cavalry charge!
Yuranosuke focuses their attention on the apron, it seeming to be the ringleader of this bizarre parade.
Then he dashes towards the yokai!
"We will cut you to ribbons!" he says as he swings at the apron with his shuan ji!
"Or they're treacherous tools that rose up against their owners when the supernatural flooded into Willowshore," Yuranosuke adds grimly. "I don't trust them either, especially since they're between us and Granny Hu's abode. Let us prevent them from harming any innocents that might wander into their path."
Yuranosuke takes the spear and tests its weight a bit. "I can put this to good use. Tsukiyo's favor shines down on the humble spear."
He hears the strange "parade" long before it comes into view, and peeks out the window to watch it in horror. He racks his brain, trying to figure out what spectre or yokai this could be.
Yuranosuke shakes his head. "We have not, not yet anyway. Perhaps we can scout ahead and clear the way for you if need be." He frowns at the description of the monster who led the attack on the guards. "It sounds like this so-called man may be the leader of this 'army' of monsters. The buso guarding the bridge styled himself like one, sure, but he seemed more like a flunky left behind to guard. What you've described...sounds much smarter and much more dangerous."
Yuranosuke nods curtly and joins in gathering the corpses and stowing them someplace inconspicuous.
Yuranosuke changes his focus and turns to the next gremlin.
Then his shuan ji lashes out to try and take the panicking wretch down.
I mean, considering GenCon's this weekend, things might be slow the forum over!
As the battle is joined, Yuranosuke dashes to Kwan's side to keep him from being surrounded.
He glares down at the jinkin he now stands over.
And swings his shuan ji around to catch it from an unexpected angle.

Yuranosuke remains silent as he moves to aid the imprisoned townsfolk and usher them into shelter. At the discussion of the jinkins and whatever is leading them, he just nods. "This town will be freed, one home at a time."
Yuranosuke breathes a sigh of relief as the swarm is broken. "Good work, Ayane," he says as he brushes a few dead cockroaches off his robes. When Zheng Peng reveals himself and Jiang instructs them to share their supplies, Yuranosuke nods and follows suit. The immediate threat of the guards starving or dying of thirst mitigated, he makes a brief loop around the building, looking to see what ways in or out he could make for them.

Yuranosuke makes a disgusted noise as he shakes and shuffles to try and toss the swarming insects off him. Then he tries to focus his attention and tries to lash out at the vermin.
"There's been more death here...poor horses...such noble creatures would have even less comprehension of the horrors attacking them than we would," Yuranosuke mutters. He creeps closer to the stables, to see the extent of the assumed carnage.
Yuranosuke rolls his eyes upon hearing Ayane's clattering, turns around and raises a finger to his lips. "Shhhhh!" he chides. There'd be time to ponder whatever supernatural force could uproot an entire house later. For now, they needed to scout for more immediate danger.
Yuranosuke nods to Jiang and holds up his hand to stop the group "And I consider myself a wise man" he whispers. "Hold here unless I call for help." He creeps out and begins to sneak from cover to cover, trying to get the lay of the land and investigate the signs of battle more closely.
Yuranosuke nods at Kwan's assessment.
Yuranosuke, awed at the bounty old Matsuki has assembled for them, clasps his hands and bows. "Thank you, honored Elder," he says. "May the Resplendent Goddess of Fortune smile on us."
Yuranosuke nods his assent to Shandari and Kwan's declaration. "It will be easier to banish any lingering evils and find the lost with the Lantern lit. Rest assured, Ha, your family will be reunited."
Just when I thought Ayane couldn't get any cuter! XD
"Wake me for the next one," Yuranosuke says. "I'm used to night hunts and watches. Only reason last night was an exception was to play along with the festival tradition." He pauses and thinks for a moment. "If I'd been awake, maybe I could have roused you all and we'd have been able to warn the town...or maybe it would have killed us..." He frowns and bows his head.
Ah. Okay! 2nd Level!
Looking at my Pathbuilder, it looks like we were doing Free Archetype. Yuranosuke was written with the intention of free archetyping Cleric. Shandari, if you'd like suggestions on a free archetype to take, Acrobat seems thematically appropriate!
"This is Shenmen," Yuranosuke says as he continues to marvel at what he's just witnessed. "Our fairytales have more grains of truth than those of other lands...as do our ghost stories."
Yuranosuke nods and takes the coin. He closes his eyes and holds it close for a moment.
Then he opens it, and begins looking about the grass. "No tracks to find," he says glumly. "No animals to thank for being part of the forest."
Yuranosuke looks at Shandari with an "I can't believe that actually worked!" look on his face and nods. "Yes, silly indeed, it seems." As Sumika emerges, his attention turns back to her and focuses again. "Jiang, Kwan, tend to her, please." Once the wound is treated, only then does he drop his shuan ji and give his cousin a hug. "I am sorry, cousin. I was one of the 'sacrifices' for the Festival. I was in the woods with the rest of my friends here. We came into town as soon as we awakened and noticed something was wrong. And now that we know, we are here to set things right. We seek Ketephys' blessing to relight the Lantern and drive the fog away."
Yuranosuke starts a bit as he recognizes his cousin, Sumika, but he doesn't say anything as he reads her lips. Then he focuses on the so-called Abacus Sisters and gives them a stern gaze. "I'm afraid you are mistaken," he says. "We are hunters, not farmers. We have no cattle you could rustle. But we can direct you to where you might find some. Tell them, Ayane!"
I'm back! And still rolling like garbage apparently!
