That is what I am trying to figure out, if you look up the rend special ability, it classifies the attack as claw damage plus strength times 1.5 (since you are using both claws to tear open the person for a 3rd attack, it is the equivalent of a 2 handed attack)

I have a question. Based on the above discussion it seems that the "rending claws" feat counts towards the "rending fury" chain. My DM agrees with this logic, however he is hesitant in providing me with the 1.5 times strength damage since it technically isn't categorized as a rend attack. I cannot find another way for a PC to learn this skill, and I found a feat under the same name (rending claws) made by Piazo Fans United that is a racial feat for lizard folk. This feat provides the times 1.5 strength and also never calls it a rend attack.

I know this thread has been inactive for a while, but I hope someone will read this and help me out!

Thanks!

Hello All,

So I have been playing a Half-Orc Barbarian Character, and one of the rage powers that I have learned is that which is bestowed by the Lesser Beast Totem which gives me a 1d6 claw attack. Having a strength of 22 while raging and only being a level 3 character, being able to have two 1d6+6 attacks is a wonderful time. However, having seen this ability in enemies, I desire to learn the rend special ability (hit with both claws and deal claw damage plus strength times 1.5). The problem is that there does not seem to be a way to learn it as a PC.

I found the feat "rending claws" and a discussion that seems to agree that rending claws counts as a pre-requisite for the "rending fury" feat chain (link to forum post here: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2mom9?Utimate-Combat-Rending-Fury-Feat-Chain), however I can't seem to determine if this means that I would get that much desired 1.5*strength damage since it is a rend attack in form even though it is not stated in the description.

If I could get any feedback on whether the strength damage is added or, alternatively, if there is another way to learn rend as a PC I would be very appreciative if someone could clue me in!

Thanks All!
