I'm sorry everyone. I was having difficulty keeping up with this game as it is and then I got sick. Now I'm having to deal with others in my family getting sick and some other real life issues popping up on me at the same time. Soon the holidays are going to be here. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to give this game the attention it deserves for a few more weeks and that isn't fair to the GM and the rest of the players. You deserve better.
I think it is best that I withdraw now before you've gotten too far in.
Covid is going through our house. I'm fairly certain I have it, but I won't get my test results back for another day or two. I'm not feeling all that well today, so I may be slow in posting.
Remember that your position in Initiative moves to just before the spider's next turn, and you don't take the persistent damage (or make a recovery check) until the end of that turn, so everyone else in the party gets to take a turn before your dying condition will increase.
One correction. A recovery check happens at the start of your turn. But yes, everyone else should get a turn to intervene first. Yagon can't heal anyone other than himself.
Yagon projects another freezing ray, hoping to either draw the dinosaur to him or get it to flee. He then interposes his magical shield in preparation for a counterattack.
◆◆ Cast a Spell (Ray of Frost) Target: Dinosaur Attack:1d20 + 19 ⇒ (19) + 19 = 38 Damage (cold):6d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 2, 4, 3) + 4 = 21 Critical: Double damage and -10 feet to speed for 1 round.
Wouldn't Slick's shield cantrip have hardness 15, just like Yagon's? Your cantrips should auto-heighten to half your level rounded up, which for us is 6th.
Right. Two of those spells last 8 hours and one lasts all day. I would have wanted to cast them when we were at the entrance to the temple, but didn't get a chance as you put us inside in the very same post.
Before venturing in Yagon would like to have cast a few spells.
Preparations:
Cantrip: Light
5th: See Invisibility
Attempting to activate the Wand of Longstrider
Nature:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21Assuming a DC of 20 being a level 5 item
Yagon stayed alert as he marched close to slick. He carried his flail in his hands as he advanced.
"I see it. I don't know what it is, but I see it."
Exploration Mode: Search
Wielding: War Flail (2 hands)
Marching Order: Front
"It is good to see you again Ingdani. I see you have kept your training regimen up these past 10 years. This time the tournament will end differently for me."
Diplomacy:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18
"I suppose it would be wise to learn what creatures dwell within our section of the island and prepare for them. As many of us have magical ability we should coordinate our strengths and cover our weaknesses."
"Speaking of magic, when I focus my divine gifts, I am granted the ability to tear small holes in space. That hole can pull you in from about 8 paces. If it grabs hold of you it can tear you apart, so be alert."
"Also, as I have joined the ranks of the half-dead, healing of a divine or primal nature is bane to me. Occult and natural ways of treating wounds does not so wound me. But worry about others first if I am wounded. I have the means to heal myself. Groetus provides."
Yagon gives a muted harrumph at that last thought.
"Groetus provides. The irony of it all. To extend a life as had been done unto me would be anathema to him. All should perish according to his teachings. So either the god of the end times is bending his own rules or some other entity tugs upon the strings of fate. This realization is not lost on me."
"A name? Yeah whatever, knock yourself out. I may not be much of a corsair, and I don't really need to know the names of those I defeat. As long as we win I couldn't care less."
Yagon nods to the one who recognized him from Tino's Toughest.
"You think that would be enough to stop me? My victory is inevitable! It has been foretold in the stars! If DEATH couldn't defeat me, then what chance do you think your team has? Perhaps you'd best concede defeat now and save the embarrassment."
Yagon -- Wanted to make sure you saw my post (on the prev page) about Billy having Faerie Fire. Again, no problem with both of us having it. It just seems niche enough that you might not want to use a prepared slot for it.
I'll keep it at least for the first day as Yagon is coming from a different direction than most (Kasai, not Goka). It just made more sense that Yagon, would have sailed from that direction due to his background story.
The way I am playing Yagon is that the team was chosen for him, not that he chose the team, so he isn't really too familiar with you all and what you can do.
It was a long journey. Having spent most of the last decade recuperating and training in Corentyn, Yagon Suel made the trek across the Acadian Ocean to Kasai. Weeks have gone by since the journey by sea began. The real journey began 10 years ago when his previous attempt in the tournament ended in death. He stood on the deck watching the ocean, especially at night when he could observe the stars. He never dared venture outside his cabin without donning his armor. Though dangerously heavy, he had to always be on guard. There were plenty of reasons people might fear him and fear could make someone reckless. If you could see his head beneath the great helm he wears his bald pate and face bear many scars. His skin is pale, partially drained of life to become a vessel of unlife. (Image)

I'm still working on getting everything linked on my character. I found an issue with Pathbuilder not following some feat requirements, so I had to switch around a few ancestry feats.
Glory would probably fit Yagon as would the personality, strength and weakness.
My backstory is that Yagon is both Lirgeni and a worshipper of Groetus. He reads the stars as messages from Groetus which led him to the previous tournament with the mission to win and announce himself as a herald of Groetus, proclaiming the calamities to come. However, his belief that he was invincible made him careless and he not only lost, but died.
Yet before he could travel to the Boneyard. Someone captured him and brought him back from death, with a spark unlife now fueling his body. With a decade of further practice, he was given the direction to enter the tournament again, to continue the mission he'd failed a decade ago. He does not know who this voice that speaks to him, but assumes it must be Groetus.
How are we for healing? Yagon is a dhampir (his only uncommon option) and can use his harmful font to cure himself, but doesn't have much he can do for the rest of you.
