Take care.

Xabala frowns in thought. "I do not think so. Many plants send out spores and seeds to propagate, growing new plants at the other location. I think this may be the same with the zombies merely being a method to transport the seeds of a new plant from one place to another. The zombie would eventually die and decay on it's own, the new creeper growing from the soil under where it fell."

Wildborn Beast-Bonded Witch 1 | HP 8/8 {effects: none} | AC 12 Tch 12 FF 10 | F +1, R +2, W +4 | Init +4 | low-light vision, perc +2

"Ther 'creature' that created the zombie is a plant and unlikely to employ much in the way of tactics beyond what it can do to acquire a single individual in which to reproduce and thus, temporarily, create the zombie. Encountering this plant alone, may not be advisable."

Wildborn Beast-Bonded Witch 1 | HP 8/8 {effects: none} | AC 12 Tch 12 FF 10 | F +1, R +2, W +4 | Init +4 | low-light vision, perc +2

"Yellow Musk!" Xabala cries out. "Be glad we have only met the 'zombie' and not the Creeper itself. It is a dangerous infection that infects a person and animates them into this creature! If you will strike with a weapon, a sharp blade is better than others. Otherwise, treat it as a dangerous plant."

I guess delay, then, until someone may get hurt, at which point she can use her Healing Hex on them.

Knowledge (?): 1d20 ⇒ 13
Knowledge arcana or history is +8, knowledge nature is +9. Of course this could be something not covered by that.

If she cannot figure it out, or if she figures it out and it can be affected by her Evil Eye Hex, then:
Xabala offers her accursed eye to the creature, assuming such a thing even has a mind to affect....

If it is not immune to mind-affecting effects: DC 14 or else take -2 on attack rolls for 7 rounds. 1 round on a save.

If she figures it out and it is immune, she may need to have more info before continuing.

Now that the crab was engaged with her allies, Xabala refrained from using her blowgun not that it would have helped much with its hard shell... not to mention the darts are not dosed.... Instead she waits in case her healing skills were needed.

Delay.

By the Elements! Xabala curses to herself as she recognizes the crab. The creature will be immune to my Hex... I shall have to be ready to assist the others where I can.

With nothing else, she pulls out her blowgun and launches a dart at the giant crab.

Just realized that vermin like the crab and eurypterids are immune to mind-affecting effects, like the Evil Eye Hex... :(

Xabala nods. "Agreed. There would be little point to return as we would not get much further down the trail on the morrow from there. To camp out nearby allows us to move further along this trail. Perhaps you can find us a suitable location for the night."

Wildborn Beast-Bonded Witch 1 | HP 8/8 {effects: none} | AC 12 Tch 12 FF 10 | F +1, R +2, W +4 | Init +4 | low-light vision, perc +2

Xabala nods at Vazio and Eizzach's words. "Indeed. In my tribe, the hunters tell their charges that they must follow their target at the earliest opportunity. Time, weather, even other creatures, may obscure the path."

EDIT: Upon returning to the camp, Xabala offers Aerys the berries that they had found by the river. "I hope that this can assist in your attempt to remove the yoke from your back."

Upon awakening, Xabala communes with the Elements through her monkey familiar, Bindi.

Once Lalaru and Yani have cleared the bush, Xabala assists with the collection of the berries for the pirate woman Aerys.

Xabala pauses to look at the patch of thorns. "These belong to the viper needle... The berries tend to be found inside... if we could just get through those poisonous thorns... Perhaps someone with a blade could, carefully, cut them away to allow me to harvest the berries?"

Xabala frowns. "So the ones who may have been behind the crash are here on the island? From the entries the the man's journal, it seems the captain was either dangerously smitten or enchanted. Either way, we should investigate their camp instead of talking about it. There may be clues as to what had happened, or where they may be."

Wildborn Beast-Bonded Witch 1 | HP 8/8 {effects: none} | AC 12 Tch 12 FF 10 | F +1, R +2, W +4 | Init +4 | low-light vision, perc +2

Xabala mutters some words and passes her hands across her eyes before looking around.

"Perhaps we should aim to be back at the camp by nightfall? We could return down a slightly different path and proceed like so for the next few days until we have cleared the area nearest the camp before heading deeper into the isle."

"Do we have ropes of sufficient length to reach the bottom? I am unsure as to my ability to climb such heights, although I suppose, if I took my time at it..."

Only Vazio seems to have rope on his sheet, and that's only 50' worth, while the wall is 80'... Also Xabala has a -1 to climb, so she'd need a rope for the whole way down.

"I must concur with Vazio and Eizzach. Considering the creatures we had met the last time, swimming may be dangerous, even for one such as Lalaru, should she get surrounded alone out there. Perhaps should we find or build a small boat or raft, then we can search it. From the looks of the thing, it has kept for some time. I expect it can keep for some more."

"We may wish to divert along any river should we come across them. A continual source of fresh water may be of use, and the viper nettles tend to grow around moist areas such as may be found near rivers and the like."

Wildborn Beast-Bonded Witch 1 | HP 8/8 {effects: none} | AC 12 Tch 12 FF 10 | F +1, R +2, W +4 | Init +4 | low-light vision, perc +2

Xabala ponders Aerys' predicament thinking on the viper nettle she mentioned or other plants that could be helpful. "I may be able to help identify and prepare such a plant, should it be found on this isle. Perhaps our first exploratory foray can be towards a likely location where they may grow."

Viper nettle or other such things that can help with what presumably is alcohol addiction.

"I think I will need to rest. This day's activities have taken their toll. If it is needed, however, I may be able to join Eizzach during the last watch. After my rest, it becomes time for Bindi and I to commune with the Elements."

I concur with Eizzach on the role assignments. I like Gelik as entertainer (given his personality) and Jask as the only remaining medic, which also means the others fall into the remaining positions. It's kind of funny. You pick one of them for a role and the others just fall into place. I am assuming that PCs cannot take on such a role. If they can, we can double up on other roles. Xabala would likely fit as a medic.

How hard is antitoxin? With Eizzach's skill with Xabala and Bindi's aid (and Bindi's feat) things that may have seemed unattainable could be within reach.

Wildborn Beast-Bonded Witch 1 | HP 8/8 {effects: none} | AC 12 Tch 12 FF 10 | F +1, R +2, W +4 | Init +4 | low-light vision, perc +2

I forgot about the potions too. Consider Xabala to have mentioned them to the party when they were discovered, before we got back. Others can take a peek at the spoiler up there.

re: Crafting:
Something I forgot to mention as I didn't realize it was relevant. Bindi's participation, thanks to the Cooperative Crafting feat means that we 'double the value of items that can be crafted in a single day'. If my interpretation is correct, I think that means that things go faster so we could be about 57 sp out now.

Wildborn Beast-Bonded Witch 1 | HP 8/8 {effects: none} | AC 12 Tch 12 FF 10 | F +1, R +2, W +4 | Init +4 | low-light vision, perc +2

Xabala nods. "Given our location and that the two of us can deal with wounds in another fashion, I would suggest we create the bodybalm. We have already encountered poison, and disease is something that could bring us down..."

The half-ekujae sighs. "Surprisingly, it is the heat. At least in the jungle we can live under the shade of the forest, but out here... hot beach, direct sunlight... Still I will assist. It is funny that you mention Bindi as he will be able to assist as well. If it becomes necessary, I can always use my ability to heal myself."

Bindi has cooperative crafting feat to add +2 circumstance bonus to Craft checks. Since you have the better craft skill, we'll aid you.

Aid another Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Aid another Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

So a total of +6 (+2 aid from Xabala, +2 aid from Bindi, +2 circumstance from Bindi)

"It seems we could use all hands, regardless of what Jask is purported to have done. If you think the crime is too heinous, would you kill him outright? Otherwise we would be forced to be his keeper. But I suppose it cannot hurt to ask for more information."

"It seems there is some form disagreement," Xabala says to the others on the beach. "Perhaps they could be discussed later, once we have found a place for the supplies and have begun putting together a shelter? Or must it be resolved first?"

Is there anything on the slip of paper other than Jask's name?

Xabala picks up and turns over the slip of paper. "This paper has his name on it. Perhaps it was a label, to state who originally owned the items? I suppose we'll find out when we bring this back to him."

The half-elf then mutters some words and passes her hands over her eyes, looking around afterwards.

Xabala nods as she looks over the work Eizzach had performed to leech out the poison from Yanistah. "You are very proficient in these methods of healing. I only hope to acheive such skills with more training. Still, perhaps I can help with the wounds themselves," she says touching the monk.

Healing Hex: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

She frowns. "I hope that is sufficient. I can only perform such a thing once on a specific person in a single day. If you require more, I have some other healing magic to use. On the other hand, perhaps, if we are to get into more trouble, I can offer a modicum of protective magics for you, seeing as you wear no armor, yet jump into battle whole hearted."

Xabala can use her healing hex on you, given the chance. Things just seem to be moving far faster and furiouser (?) than I had expected.

I had an emergency yesterday that prevented me from getting online so I'll have to take some time to catch up. If someone hasn't healed you by the time I post, I'll have Xabala do it.

One by one they all introduce themselves. I am Gelik Aberwhinge, says the blonde gnome he begins muttering some strange words and brushes himself off. More of the dirt comes off than would seem possible. In moments he is completely clean excepting the ink stains still on his fingers. Storyteller, adventurer, Pathfinder and Gnome extraordinaire. He bows with a flourish of his hand.

"Pleased to meet you Gelik, I look forward to hearing your tales. I expect we may need such things during our stay here."

The red-haired woman continues to sit, she smiles--though it seems more dangerous than friendly. I'm Sasha, she says simply, And I can handle myself pretty well in any situation.

"Well met. I expect, considering our situation, that we will need such skills."

Quote:
Finally the dark man in shackles looks up. Jask Derindi. I was on my way to be tried and imprisoned for a crime I didn't commit. I won't hesitate to admit that I am alright with this detour.

Xabala nods gravely at the Mwangi prisoner, a bit of sympathy runs in her voice, the familiarity of his race, something of an anchor to her. "I expect we are all prisoners here after a fashion. Perhaps we can see to removing your shackles so you can better help with the survival of the group."

"Please let me know if you have any injuries. I was trained as the medicine woman of my tribe and have some small ability to heal." The half-Ekujae notices the others preparing to move to search the ship, she turns back to the ones she had been talking to. "Perhaps you can remain together and rest or even scout our position in some fashion, while we search the ship for supplies. But please be careful."

At the ship

Xabala looks upon the wreckage of the ship in awe. Such a giant beast, taken down by the dangers of the sea... although a portion of betrayal may have been involved... "Perhaps those that attempted to leave us behind ended up gaining their just rewards by being trapped here as well. It seems something, at least survives within, although it may be more hungry eurypterids searching for sustenance."

Xabala stands with Bindi sitting on her shoulder, the leaves the monkey had brought having been stuffed at her belt. She listens to the others speak of poison in the food and nods to herself. Stands to reason we were poisoned considering our position...

At the mention of Smuggler's Shiv, she raises her head, looking at the horned man, as some of her memories come to the fore. "Smuggler's Shiv? I have heard a story of this place while I was in the town known as Bloodcove, before getting into the large boat. Some say the place is haunted, and none who attemted to sail here have returned. They say, long ago, sailors from Cheliax wanted to build a house of light but they abandoned it. An old man talked about survivors of a wreck here became man-eaters, and their offspring still seek out the flesh of those who come to their shores."

"On the whole, it does not sound like an inviting place to visit."

She turns to Vazio on his mention of salvage. "Wreck? The boat is wrecked here too? So perhaps someone on the boat poisoned us and left us here yet still ended up being foiled by the waters? I am Xabala and this is Bindi," she said indicating her monkey. "Who are these others that lie here? I saw them on the ship as well. It seems they are in the same predicament as us...," she finishes as she moves up to them (the unconscious/awakening other 5) to see if they were well.

Yeah, I'm stuck with IE 9 until IT decides to upgrade (and even then it'll probably be 10 since we like to be behind the curve). We're only now about to upgrade to Windows 7 in the next little while. I also expect Roll20 to do something so that IE11 stops working anyhow. I could have sworn that a couple years back, IE worked fine with it but then suddenly was 'not supported'. I do find it amusing they suggest using that Chrome frame which , as Yani mentioned, has been discontinued.

Google docs are blocked at work but I can access it on my cell which seems to work fine (as long as I'm not going to be manipulating the character position, etc.).

That being said, I was just letting you know about my issues. I wasn't expecting you to change things (and I certainly don't want you do do more work than what is already on your plate). Just let me know if there is anything adjacent to the character that I need to worry about. Anything else would maybe be if nothing is within 30' for a Hex. We can figure out more complex things when I start getting AoE spells or the like.

I can't use Roll20. At work we only use Internet Explorer. Roll20 doesn't seem to support IE. I can't use my cell either, since Roll20 doesn't have mobile support (nor does it work when I look at it as a destop site as the screen is covered by the sidebar).

So here I am !Kunat... From the Jungle to Bloodcove and now on a boat as large as a villiage on water that seems to go on forever. And we move without moving, as if standing on a tree in the wind! I did not know there was so much world to explore! And the different people! Different skins, some short, some tall, some even with horns! There is much to discover!

Xabala ate quietly in the galley, lost in her thoughts. Only a few other sailors were doing the same, one of them even still drunk from a recent binge, nursing another mug of ale and munching on some dried fruits. Bindi, Xabala's companion and familiar, was hopping about, climbing the walls and swinging along the rafters. The monkey paused in it's exploration when the drunken sailor made a clicking noise and held up a dried fruit, possibly as an offering. Bindi glanced over at Xabala but she seemed to remain intent on her own food. The monkey hopped down onto the table and approached the sailor cautiously. When it got close enough, it reached out for the fruit. The sailor smiled and then quickly pulled the fruit away, tossing it into his own mouth.

"Ye're a lil' slow ye rodent. Care te try yer luck agin?" he said with a smile, eliciting a few chuckles from his deckmates. The sailor offered another fruit to the monkey, and once again Bindi fell for the trick. Frustrated, the monkey hissed at the sailor, a warning certainly, but one the sailor ignored. The third time the fruit was offered, Bindi was faster than the sailor, biting his finger and snatching up the fruit as it was dropped. The monkey chittered at the sailor who was nursing his finger and grumbling.

"Why ye lil'...," the sailor raged taking a drunken swipe at the monkey. The first swing missed, but the second lumbering fist connected, sending Bindi tumbling and sliding across the table, caught by Xabala before it had fallen over the edge. Bindi shook itself out of its daze before climbing up Xabala's arm to rest on her shoulder, wrapping an arm about her head, seeking protection, as it hissed at the sailor.

"Why, sirrah, are you assaulting my friend here?" Xabala said, frowning at the man.

"Tha damned thing bit me!" the sailor growled.

"Do you mean, sirrah, before or after you had been taunting it with a piece of fruit?"

"I were just playin' with it and it bit me. Ye've got te keep that filthy thing on a rope or mayhap I'll have tha cook make some monkey stew!"

"I understand," Xabala said with an understanding nod. "You are the weak one, the runt, of this ship family of yours, so you need to focus your ire on one you assumed was beneath you. It must be a shock to learn that even Bindi is above you. After all, he got the fruit from you, despite your best efforts. Perhaps you may want to search for rodents in... the bilge you call it? Search there for those that you may outsmart."

The room was silent as the drunken sailor reddened with embarrassment and rage. Before he could act, however, the other sailors began to laugh uproarously. "She got ye good Cabe!" one of them called out. Realizing his position, the sailor sat back down, snarling and staring at his mug of ale.

As Xabala turned to leave, Bindi chittered at the sailor, waving one of its hands towards him. The sailor glanced up and snarled at the monkey but said nothing, instead lifting his mug for a drink. As Xabala stepped out of the room, the sound of spitting and retching came out of the galley as the sailor spat up his ale and fruit, the flavors now seemingly spoiled. Echoes of laughter from the other sailors resounded through the hall as she moved to head up on deck.

I suppose that since Xabala and I are Int-based casters we should probably be responsible for Spellcraft and the Knowledge skills, although, although everything except Knowledge (arcana) and Knowledge (nature) is cross-class for alchemists. Heal is also my archetype specialty, and I get Skill Focus with it at 5th level as well as a few other perks. Naturally, I will also be investing in Craft (alchemy).

Likewise I've got a racial trait that gives me double the languages for every rank in Linguistics, so I can max that as well. I was thinking of picking up Skill Focus (UMD) at the later levels to increase my utility, although since Vazio and Nichelle have higher Charisma scores they might be able to do more with it.

My class knowledges are arcana, history, nature, and planes. I've put a point into the first three but as we level I can toss points into the other as well. I even put a point in Craft (alchemy), lol, but it, along with the Heal skill fit the concept of her being a medicine woman. I also have a point in UMD, but that's so that the familiar could, eventually, UMD a few things too.

Familiar has the Valet archetype, so I might move further down a crafting route at some point in the distant future.

Checking in!

Already had a plan for my own (well, more my monkey's) interaction with a drunken sailor when I get a chance to properly post.

3d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6) = 15 = 150 gp

And I believe that I am finished. I suppose there weren't that many modifications required after all.

I'd like to submit this character. I'll probably make some adjustments after the weekend to fit your creation rules but the background is there.

All right. I believe that I am finished here, although I'm still contemplating some equipment and thinking on picking a different feat. Everything is in the profile.

Xabala is a wildborn half-elf (half-Ekujae) beast-bonded witch with a valet monkey familiar.

Dotting for interest with this Ekujae half-elf witch. Still finalizing the crunch and then will work on the background and the like.
