Hey. I'm running a Tiefling Alchemist, and I had a question about Archetypes in PFS. Can you take a level in an Archtype for a Class you already have levels in, and how would that character's existing abilities be effected?

Specifically, I'm looking at Internal Alchemist.

We have come up against some rather nasty gas traps and creatures, and there is a hint of some possible water adventures coming up.

I wanted to make sure I understood what the Core rulebook says on this.

" A weapon with a special ability must also have at least a +1 enhancement bonus. "(pg 468)

So if I want to give, let's say a dagger, 1d6 fire damage, then I first have to give that same dagger Magical+1, and before that, Masterwork(either through purchasing the weapon masterworked, or having a spell cast to make it such).

This would bring the total cost to 4302 Gold. Which in turn means that I cannot have this item with any Pathfinder Society character who has less than 18 Fame, even if I have the Gold to cover the price before that point.

Getting ready to run this scenario as an end of the year thing with my local group. Just wanted to pop in and say 'thanks' to everyone who commented so far. As a 0-star GM, this scenario had mt scratching my head in a few parts, and this whole conversation has helped me out.

I do have two problems I'd like some help on.
1. The satyr, Is there a rule against making him one step friendlier to assist for the sake of time(I have the late slot, so if we run over, we get kicked out without finishing the scenario.)

2. The final battle has A LOT of things going on, from leech swarms, and captured elves, to a submerging demon. We will almost definitely have a full 6-player High tier party, so how would it be best to run the weird little flying thing that tries to threaten the elves?

I think I have a handle on the rest of the battle, but that one thing is throwing me for a loop for some reason.

Well, weather I get a boon or not, I'm hoping that this will be a chance to expand my abilities as a GM, and have a good time. I just don't want to wind up with the dreaded CON CRUD boon!

Alright, the messages make more sense now. thanks. Still learning, and I think I always will be.

I signed up for a convention, to be a GM, and told them that I would have my 1-star GM qualifications done before the con started. They told me that they would put me in as a tier 1 GM. Is that the same thing as a 1-star gm, or am I missing something else entirely?

thanks for the help.

so, to get to 1-star status, you need to report 10 games right? I reported a module, and got 2 GM points of credit. Does that could as my one game, or are Modules actually worth 2 points/games?

2/5

Just wondering. I've seen and rea that GMs can't rerun a scenario or module for exp, unless they give up a star. I was wondering if it's possible to rerun a scenario or module just for GM credit. I'm trying to get to my first star, and I have an online map I've already played through set up with all the baddies and traps, and everything. I'd love to be able to rerun it for cred, but If I can't, then so be it.

could a Large category two-handed weapon be used as an improvised weapon by a medium creature instead of a standard weapon? If I've read the material correctly, it would be a -4 to hit, but aside from that it's still all the same.

I'm asking for a stat block to a creature I'm trying to write in what I hope will be a quest for PFS. Trying to get all of the mechanics down before I submit it. The character in question is a Half-orc who will be using an overly large Greatclub.

Would that be acceptable per the rules?

thanks for the information. I'll take some time and read the guide as suggested. It's a shame I can't have beads made. would have been cool, as a tiefling, to walk in, blow up the boss, and walk out, letting my reflex save for 1/2 and dr 5 fire soak up all the hurt.
While it sounds very cool as an individual experience, unfortunately it would likely create a poor play experience for the other five players at the table since they wouldn't get to do anything in the final fight except watch you blow up the bad guy in a single action. That would be a anticlimactic end to 4-5 hours of a play experience and likely put everyone in a sour mood.
Mike makes such a great point, we have an evocation wizard at a decent level who can cast a Fireball that can avoid up to 7 targets within it. In some encounters, when the other PCs are being beaten down (I have really good dice rolls at the wrong time for the PCs, but I also fail saves as the DM usually). So this can 1 shot the boss, but he does everything he can before hand to help the party - using the fireball when he feels it necessary... after using the other spells first to incapacitate what he can so the party gets a chance to act, but they usually tell him when they want him to use his Get Out of TPK Free card. lol

Pretty much what I had in mind for the fireball scenario. I only thought it up after the Crypt of the everflame's boss killed all but 2 members of our party. the one and only saving grace was that most of those killed were Pregens, so no one actually lost a character with investment behind it.

Thanks for the confirmation, I just wanted to double check.

Are Racial traits the same thing as Race traits?

I've been reading through the Guide to organized play, and it says that two traits may be selected, and that of those two, one trait can be taken from Race traits. But the advance race guide had a list of Racial traits.

I have been using all of the listed Race traits on my characters thus far, and no GMs have said anything. I wanted to double check and see if I needed to adjust my characters to make them legal or not.

Basically, the Darkvision, medium creature size, and damage resistance traits.

Those are different from say, Libery's Edge trait for Captains blade correct?

agreed. It was just one of those things that the gamer in my wanted to try one time, so I could enjoy the game mechanics of it. In any case, thanks for the help, the Guide is a bit thick, and a lot of it I knew already, but the fine-tuning is very helpful, and I can see a few points where I can improve my characters that I wasn't taking advantage of.

I have a question, based on the rules of Crafting skills used in Pathfinder.

I know that items cannot be truly made, but under many Craft skills, they can be bought for the same price as would be required for the raw materials.

My question deal specifically with the Wondrous item, Necklace of Fireballs.

Since fireballs for the necklace are stated as costing 150 gp per d6 in a fireball on the necklace, can individual fireball gems be purchased, then placed on the necklace?

If so, are there any rules pertaining to this particular area of item creation? i.e., Can you only make 3d6 and 5d6 gems when you own a necklace of fireballs type 1? or is there a level cap of 5d6 for that particular necklace?

And, this probably should have been the first question, but does the purchasing rule even apply to the Wondrous Item creation feat?

Greetings and salutations to all.

So, I'm new to Pathfinder, but I've been playing various 'pencil and paper' games for over a decade. I have always found it rewarding when I can make a long, in-depth background, and even more so when my character begins to take a life of his/her own.

I'm currently working on my first character for Pathfinder Society. A Half-Elf Gunslinger, I've been fascinated by the factions, since I've rarely had a chance to Roll play in such a well developed world.

My idea is for my character to be a former slave, born into slavery, then set free by an Andoran Operative, who guided Nashoba on the path to being an Agent for the Pathfinder Organization. My question is, would there be anyone who has an active character and would like to play the part of this mentor/savior?

I'm asking for two reasons. One, because there is a chance that my character and yours will do a mission together, either online, or at a con(especially if your on the east coast and go to Atlanta based cons).

Two, part of the 'looking ahead/goals' part of my character, is that to the best of his knowledge, his elven mother is still a slave, being held somewhere in the world. Nashoba hopes to free her one day, even though he knows she will likely outlive him, he wants to see her enjoy the same freedom he has.

will gunslingers be allowed, or will this be a 'no guns' setting?
