This isn't to say that you can't convince Winter to participate. Call it an RP challenge.

Winter had no luck thinking of a solution and ultimately let those who seemed better suited to it come up with a plan. She wasn't too pleased with the plan of trespassing on Pharasma's domain but she also knew that Momijii didn't deserve the death that befell her, at least not anymore. "I won't help you in this right to raise her, the method is a violation of what I believe in." She sighed then as she continued in a nearly defeated stance, "nor will I stop you. If you can bring her back I won't ask how you did it I will simply accept it as Phasasma's will."

Winter allowed the others to explain what had happened, with the exception of the events in the old chapel they had a better understanding than her, so she listened intently. As Agrippa began to discuss his plan she felt some reluctance at involving the villagers and spoke in agreement with Cesadia, "I agree that involving the villagers like this isn't my preference either. Getting them riled up wouldn't likely be hard but I don't think that they'll survive what is likely to happen if they do this. These cultists wouldn't hesitate to kill them all if they were being a nuisance nor do I think would our corrupt official inside." When Luxina mentioned summoning something to cause a distraction Winter considered and said, "That has more potential but I doubt that any of us could summon anything that would truly distract them for very long..." She dropped her head slightly as she though, one hand drifting to her holy symbol, and tried to come up with something that she could summon to help them against these cultists.

Pausing so Winter can think.

With the fight over and Heinrich bleeding out Winter rushed over to him as she prayed and reached out with a pale golden glow in her hands to touch him. When she did the energy entered his body and began to heal the his injuries. With the spell having taken it's course she seemed relieved and said, "That should do for now Heinrich."

Angered at eh failure of her spell Winter throws her dagger once more the blade sailing out at the demon's shadowy shape..

Crap! Sorry, I keep waiting my turn and keep not realizing that I am up.

Winter was pleased to see her dagger slam into the demon's arm and injure it and held her hand out for it's return to her. Deciding that it was time to make this thing less able to ignore their attacks or flee Winter called upon the power of her goddess and said, "My goddess is the bane of ghosts and you are enough like one that she commands you be put down in her name!" The blessing of her goddess flowed out and into the demon attempting to anchor him more firmly into the material plane so that he could be dealt with mroe easily.

SR if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
I cast ghost bane dirge Will 16 negates, if he fails he takes half damage from non-magical and full damage from magical weapons for 5 rounds.

As they decided to flee Winter's dagger came back to her outstretched hand and she began to run up the stairs, following her allies, as they tried to reach the surface and eventual sunlight. When she heard the call that there was sunlight there Winter went to one of the windows and, a quick prayer of apology for the desecration, sent her dagger at the window beside her.

With her weapon blessed and few other options Winter aimed with her dagger and let it fly at the demon.
dagger returning/seeking/good aligned: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 261d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The blade flew with incredible accuracy as it sailed in at the demon to plunge into it's shoulder.

It dawned on Winter then that the re was something she could do to help and said, "Wait a moment, one of the scrolls can help." She pulled out the parchment she needed and said, "Here, I think we can fight it with this. Hold up your weapons." Once that was done Winter read quickly from the scroll and caused everyone's chosen weapon to become blessed by the forces of good. "There, we can hurt it now."

Winter looked at the thing in worry, she had no clue what it was, not really, though the fact it was a demon as pointed out by her comrades made her worried. She spoke up and said, "I don't have much that will likely help against that thing. It would be best if we withdraw and try to hold out for sunrise." With that she prepared to withdraw if the others agreed.

Sadly I do have a spell that would help but I don't have the knowledge to know it will right now.

Glad I never mentioned the mechanics of the ritual then. Not sure how that came out. At least he did tell us there was a ritual.

Yeah, the scroll case I grabbed earlier.

Winter nodded in agreement with Lizzie and said, "The book must be burned, we will find another way to restore Momijii. The note in the scroll case said that it must be burned. We can't wait to do the ritual because the guardian will wake up. Don't you think that Caston had the best of intentions with that book?" She pointed to the ghost, "Look what it got him, excommunicated and disgraced, betrayed by the forces he tried to harness. there is no time to debate, we must destroy that foul tome right now."

Winter was shocked at what Heinrich had done, that book had to be destroyed, nothing good could come from it, but she also knew that she couldn't afford to alienate there people. She resigned herself to likely having to end Heinrich later when the book took over and corrupted him. She did see one hope and asked, "Do you need that cursed tome to enact the ritual to revive Momijii? If not then we should burn it, now, before the guardian awakens to protect it."

Winter gave the ghost a questioning look as she said, "Despite your fall from grace you don't deserve to suffer like this. Will destroying the book allow you to move on?"

Knowledge (history): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Winter looked around cautiously as they entered the crypt and her eyes were drawn towards the skull, candles, and tome. She also saw the ghost and knew who he was. She said quietly, "That is Caston Creed, he's the one who drove his followers away before a demonic thing killed him. It seems he's been trapped here all this time." She looked at the ghost with some sympathy and began to approach him and the tome when he suddenly turned towards her.

Winter stopped as the ghost gesticulated wildly at her and tried to understand what he was wanting her to know.

Her eyes lit in understanding and said, "I understand Caston, don't touch the book, you have my word that I won't. I am only going to approach your body to retrieve what you seem to want me to find." She approached him and found the scroll case which she opened to find a pair of scrolls and a scrap of paper.

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
As she began to read the note she happened to catch a glimpse of something and realized it seemed to be from a gemstone on the cover of the book. There almost seemed to be something moving inside the gemstone. She backed away and said to the others, "We need to destroy that book now. I think that fire will do it but we might have to deal with it's guardian, unless someone can deactivate the trigger for it."

Do I have any kind of bonus on the Religion roll being a Pharasmin priestess?

Winter quickly realized just what was happening, how the creature was healing so rapidly. It was so obvious to her she was surprised she didn't think of it earlier. She held her holy symbol up and a pulse of energy wafted through the room and healed everyone. Everyone, that is, except for the ugly thing.

Selective Channel: ignore starsquid thing.
Channel Positive: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2) = 7
All bleeding should now be stopped.

As a note, the dagger attack from before was meant to be a readied attack in case it swiped at me, I didn't intend to move up to it and attack.

Circle is fine, that's probably what I would have done anyway.

Gencon won't be til Wednesday, I thought I had already posted is all. Sorry bout that. What was the spell I cast?

Winter quickly readied her dagger, as soon as that thing took another swipe at her she was going to try and cut the incoming tentacle.

I'll be at gencon next week from sometime wednesday through sometime sunday so my posting will be very limited then.

Having entered the chapel, and seeing the thing they were to fight, Winter focused and said, "Pharasma, if it is fated guide our hands and protect us from this foul abomination!" The goddess of fate smiled upon them and a wash of cold went through them, strengthening their resolve and granting a feeling that luck was on their side.

I cast prayer, +1 luck bonus to attack, weapon damage, saves, and skill checks for 5 rounds and the horror takes the same penalty, no save.

Winter moved up behind Lizzie and said a few words in prayer, touching the gnome's shoulder as she said, "May Pharasma aid you in this fight." With dagger in hand she moved in behind Agrippa and Lizzie, staying towards the center of the group.

I'll cast Aidon Lizzie, +1 morale on attack rolls and saves vs fear aaaaaand

As they found the bodies Winter Paused and looked at them. She was curious as to how they were killed, though she had her suspicions.

When they began to plot to lure whatever was inside out Winter said, "I'm not sure what happened to kill them, but I think they are drained of blood. It's too hard to tell if that is the case though." As they prepared to fightt he thing she asked, "What is in there? What can we expect if we fight it?"

I also adjusted for the ABP. forgot we were using it.

As they approached the Old Temple Winter's mismatched gaze traveled over the area. She could sense this place was very wrong somehow but not what exactly was the problem.

The sense of the heebie jeebies left her too distracted to notice the light that Filbert spotted but she accepted that the small man might be right. As Filbert began to approach the door Winter pulled free her dagger, a relic she'd been entrusted with before coming here, and readied her prayers in preparation for what might come next.

Winter considered the question Luxina posed to her about how they could bring Momijii back and shook her head sadly, ""I don't know, not yet anyway. She will make the way known to us when the time is right though, I am sure of it." She looked down at the monk's corpse and said, "We can take her to the old chapel, her body will be safe there." As they went towards the Chapel the changeling woman responded to Filbert's question and said, "She might, we can stop and ask on our way to the chapel."

Once they had gotten Momijii to the chapel Winter pulled out a letter she had received and passed it around for the others to examine and then took the book the gnome offered her. She read it carefully and nodded, "Yes. there do seem to be some things common between them don't there."

Knowldge (history): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Hearing the scream Winter knew who it was and that she was too late. Regardless she rushed to where the group was just in time to see the revenant collapse beside the mangled body of the monk. She came to a stop as she reached them and said quietly, "No, I was too late."[/]b Her shoulders slumped as she said, [b]"I'm sorry Momijii, I wasn't quick enough."

She looked at the group and said, "The Lady of Graves gave me a warning about a revenant and I had hoped to reach you before it did." She looked down, "I'm afraid I failed." She approached the body of Momijii and said, "I can't bring her back, not right now, and I don't know of anyone who can, but I can tend to her body and keep her whole while we look for a way to restore her. The Lady says it wasn't her time, and I believe she will lead us to a way to restore her, when the time is right." She muttered a prayer to the Lady and then touched the mangled body preserving it, for now.

Cast gentle repose on the corpse.
