Generally summon monster has the edge on summon nature's ally. However class features, feats and magic items can interact with them radically. Especially in books like Advance Class Guide, The Harrowed Handbook and the Monster Summoner's Handbook.

Throw in the Seeker archetype out of the Pathfinder Field Society guide and you got a knowledge monkey how can find & disarm regular and magical traps. Its one the few compatible archetypes with the Sage bloodline. http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer/archetypes/paizo---so rcerer-archetypes/seeker-sorcerer ![]()

I must agree with the majority of posters with one exception: dinosaurs can have almost always a great flavor and challenge for the pcs. Books and movies like Jurassic Park sell for a good reason. And it would be an error not to use these iconic creatures and the supporting npcs they make possible.

Concept sounds pretty cool. You could of course carry around a spellbook without spells and only notes (perhaps on spells) at early levels. Then later you could put Pages of Spell Knowledge RAW Ultimate Equipment pg314. A wondrous magic item that IMO saves the sorceror class from its narrow field of spell selection. ![]()
