Hi everyone. Sooooo I've had to close every PbP game I run, and shrunk it down to two games, and I am barely finding time to post in the other one I've been in for quite a while now. Unfortunately I'm going to have to withdraw from this game rather than string you along with slow once a week posts. Sincerely apologize for starting and stopping but my life changed pretty drastically and I've had to stop most PbP activities. Thank you so muhc for the invite, and take care!
Viro shrugs a little bit and just remains silent and faceless in his plate armour as Davina does the talking.
Viro, back in armour, looks over the workshop from behind his visored helmet. He takes a moment. "May be worth just asking questions and seeing who panics."
Viro looks to the others. "Honestly that's already a lot of information to go on. Do we have more questions we want to ask?"
"A killer is also something we can reasonably target and fix. A plague..." he shakes his head. "Trouble."
Sorry for spotty posts, life is chaos but I'm trying to keep with.
"The glowing red dagger is a little on the nose don't you think?" says Viro dryly as the group congregates. He's now out of his armour and lazing about like a dandy with some wine he always seems to have once out of his 'uniform'. "And a plague is... horrific. My first thought is this is some deliberate ploy. Plagues do happen, but considering the evil forces gripping our silver city it's the sort of thing I'd engineer to get the populace to focus on something else." He looks at the group. "So what in my beloved avenging angel's name do we do about this mess? I'm not sure I can fix a plague but maybe if we can establish some sort of pattern with th is killer we can bait them out?"
Viro goes out of armour for once, dressing as his dandy self as he starts asking around. He hits some of his usual haunts for gossip and information, spreading a bit of information about a weird stabbing in an alley and wondering if others have heard anything or know anyone.
Viro clanks over and looks over the body as the rest of the group speaks. He quietly performs a rite over her before kneeling down to look at the wounds more closely. "My condolences, how horrible. She was stabbed almost forty times with a dagger that caused bleeding that's..." He trails off trying to find the word. "Extreme. With permission I can pray for a speak with dead spell on the morrow but for now we should ask questions around that alley. Perhaps learn about the other victims. Why would anyone stab someone this much?" Viro clanks back his visor and kneels down by the body, looking over the wounds very closely.
Viro keeps his helmet on when delivering the twins to the baron, remaining implacable and anonymous. He quietly clocks the baron's love interest. Maybe useful gossip, maybe not. Still very unsure of what the rebellion's situation is and what would help or not, he just remains quiet.
FINALLY back in. Christ. As a heads-up I'm going to be closing down all the games I'm GMing in save one because of capacity issues with my gig as a union president. I am going to try to keep at it with this game and the other one I play in because I love it and it's a lot easier to be a player than it is a GM. We'll see how it goes!
"I considered getting one of those but nobody seems to bat an eyelash at a tall man in plate mail," quips Viro.
With the distasteful but convenient task taken care of, Viro looks to the rest of the group. "Right, I'm new. Lead on."
Viro keeps the helmet on so his emotions are unreadable. "It needs be done." With the oytugh disposing of the bodies to both his relief and extreme distaste, Viro rejoins the others and just tries to stand imposingly behind Davina as he deals with his own dark thoughts over the executions.
Viroleth shakes his head. "Their goddess compels them to commit evil acts. Freedom to continue their evil is not redemption. It would be selfish for us to let them free because they will avoid harming us." His face hidden behind the visor of his helmet, he looks over to T'Chazzar. "You seem prepared. Let us be done with this." Leaving the rest of the group out of this, Viro (and hopefully T'chazzar) approach the bound women. "We've made our decision. Your worship of Mahathallah has led you to horrific evil. You were offered an option for redemption, and to forsake your evil goddess and embrace the path of good. You have refused that. In the name of Ragathiel the General of Vengeance I take your life." Once T'Chazzar has had space to handle things as he sees fit, Viro executes the prisoner with a blow to the neck with his sword.
Viro shrugs over at Dom, a somewhat curious gesture considering his heavy armour. "We don't need to be so elaborate, my mission to destroy evil is simple. Once we're back with the prisoners they will have an offer to revoke their evil goddess, seek no revenge on us, and start a better life. If they refuse, their lives are forfeit. I imagine they will say no but they get the chance at least."
I have not looked at this subsystem at all so uh, sure. Demagoguery seems on brand.
Viro looks at the prisoners. "Let's get these kids to safety. We can speak to the prisoners - I will offer them a chance at redemption and they can seek it or not. Their world is gone and they have to build a new one now."

After pulling back the mask to triumphantly reveal someone he's never heard of, Viro moves over to check over the twins as they talk. Satisfied they aren't hurt beyond what is surely horrendous emotional scarring they've witnessed. "I don't think she could find Jessibel...or Leora either for that matter. Luculla seemed to believe that human souls are the most pure or powerful or valuable at the moment when a person switches from an adolescent into an adult. She used to taunt us by arguing the point in front of us with her summoned devil.... THE DEVIL!! She's got a summoned devil! Have you encountered it?" "As the resident cleric I can assure you they made that up to sound important, but thankfully it kept you alive long enough for us to come to your rescue. And yes, the devil is back in hell where it belongs." "You have my thanks, in addition to saving my life, your healing energies seem to have banished the crushing hangover Vizuchy left me with." "Ever see a hung over Caydenite? There's a reason for that. Same rules apply for other clerics. I imagine Luculla was in such a bad mood because her prayers just made her hangover worse."
Viro lets out a huge sigh of relief as he makes his way over to the cult leader. He snaps back his visor to stare down at her angrily, not making any move to heal her. "This is an evil who will return to haunt us if she lives but we can decide about that in a moment. let's see what she has forfeited to our cause." Once the group is away from the priestess, Viro channels energy again.
Heads-up posting may be limited so bot as necessary. Since we're in a big combat I'll prioritize this game though to not hold things up.
Viro checks around the room. "Well if we want to secure this area we'll need to be after her and ready for it. Is anyone hurt? I can offer more healing if necessary. We can talk aboiut that horrific spell later, but it is what it is." With that he checks around the room for anything of interest.
Realizing that the quarry is gone, Viro looks down at his sword and shakes his head in disgust. "Cruel magic, I will do penance. Oh well, I'll save my shame for later. Let's get you out of this damn net." With that Viro heads over to help disentangle everyone. He also checks in on Arani - cautiously - to see if her confusion spell has abated.
"OH NO YOU DON'T!" shouts Viro, humiliated and in a complete rage at having his brains scrambled in such a manner. Seeing the group still injured, he realizes his role and moves into the centre of the room, chanting another prayer to his avenging angel.
The two arrows thunk into Viro who quickly veers for the priestess before throwing up holy magic to heal himself and his allies.
Finally, FINALLY Viro seems to snap out of whatever mania he's been in. Realizing he may only have a moment of lucidity. "Ragathiel rid me of this accursed magic!"
Hoping that the spell is gone, he quickly takes in the battlefield before clanking his way over towards Dom to save the fallen comrade, too terrified at what he's been through to think about much else.
Viro looks around wildly and spying Arani babbling he shrieks "SHE IS POSSESSED!"
Thankfully his wild swings manage to miss this time.
Satisfied he has wounded himself, Viro stares blankly into the space as he returns to muttering to himself. "The fourtheenth tenant of Ragathiel's code of literacy is to never place a doorknob twixt a sandwich."
Viro stares as he realizes he attacked T'chazzar. "WHAT HAVE I DONE?! RAGATHIEL FORGIVE ME!!!"
Viro's eyes go wide and he lets out a shriek before he starts swinging at T'chazzar. "A DROW! WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!"
Viro's eyes stare vacantly around him and he starts jabbering to himself. "Have you ever had a dream that that you um you had you'd you would you could you'd do you wi you wants you you could do so you you'd do you could you you want you want him to do you so much you could do anything?"
However, Viro is super great. He doubles over in the horrific mist but manages to fight through the worst of it before looking over the fight and trying to decide between the devil and the priestess. But as a cleric of Ragathiel, beating up a devil just makes sense. Realizing there is still a protection from evil spell active, he tries to be clever. Holding up his holy symbol, a large ringing sound starts to fill the room before the devil's glaive begins to vibrate wildly.
Viro groans. "It wasn't exactly clearly marked. You didn't have gate guards. You had a few faceless stalkers who tried to eat our faces, some changelings who tried to eat our faces, and then increasing evidence of a spooky cult to your goddess of esoteric nonsense under the streets of our city which only begged further investigation. What did you expect us to do? You're asking for negotiations, what are your terms? What do you want from us?"
Staring down the devil and itching for a fight, Viro nonetheless knows full well his sword should be his last option, not his first. He steps forward but doesn't leave the cluster of the group. His voice booms out from his visored helmet. "We've already slain your cult after they attacked us without warning, and sent your devil fleeing back to you. What exactly are the negotiations you are offering?"
"Heal up, form up, and let's move on. It will attack again if that chanting is what we think it is."
"Falina? I want to know if it's gone somewhere else or about to stab me in the face."
Quietly seething that his short-term spell is probably not going to be used, Viro looks around warily. "Anyone know what spell it just cast?"
"Back to me Arani, I'll heal you!" calls out Viro as the group agrees to keep drawing the devil to a space where they can surround it.
Deciding he's not going to rush in but let the group figure out their strategy - he's new after all - Viro chants a second spell. "Ragathiel bless us!"
Viro very unhappily sees what's going on with the devil and nods once, grabbing his holy symbol and chanting a prayer as he gets ready for battle. "Ragathiel protect me! Stun those who would harm your servant." He looks at Dom and Davina peeking around the corner. "Move back you fools!" Viro looks unwarily at his companions, ready to charge in if they end up as the front line.

Actually I can swipe one. Never hurts to have a handy dandy freeze-o-matic.
Viro looks in disgust at the unholy symbol before flinging it into the pit. "Mathusa... no, Mathal... no, Mathezelwhat... ahem. Dowager of Illusions - also charmingly known as the Whore Queen. Faceless stalkers look to be a part of the same cult. Her cults are obsessed with life on other planes and that life here is meaningless. Sounds complicated." Looking uncomfortably at the pit, Viro hangs back. "Let's uh... make sure there aren't any secondary traps. I really don't want to fall down there."
Viro keeps one of the unholy symbols with him, looking it over as the group approach the pit.
"... I sort of imagined the changelings would have nicer living quarters. This is disgusting." Viro lets T'chazzar take the lead as he keeps near the centre of the group for support as needed.
Viro sighs, nodding once. "I'm not going to take any lives I don't have to but I admit this is a little more complicated than I'd hoped. Also there was some warning about things too horrible for us to know or something. Tie them up and keep exploring, we don't need to be complicated. They've already been defeated by us and lost one of their sisters. If they fight us again that mercy may be harder for them to come by in the middle of a pitched battle."
