About Vigo Graviano

Background/History:

"Vigo, ours is a cruel and terrible world. My fingertips tremble even now as I write, and I fear this may be my final letter to you. Your father has learned of your continued existence and I believe he means to see me executed for my deception in keeping you alive. I write to you now as a prisoner in our own manor's cellar, it is only by my handmaiden's mercy I am afforded this final goodbye.

My heart breaks that I must deliver to you such grim news, but do not weep for me. I do not fear death. I will pass through the fires of Hell with a soul burning fiercer than any devil has dreamed. It was by the grace of Asmodeus that you were given life and it is with his grace that I will face my fate. I have lived a happy life, and I will leave this world smiling knowing I've bestowed upon it a greater gift than any goddess ever has. You.

I am so proud of you. The oracles, in visions they show me the beautiful man you've grown to become. You're more perfect than a mother could dare to dream of, however we both know this world is without heart. I know the hardships you've faced and there's many more yet to come, but you must remain strong. Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. Vigo Charthagnion you are my son, and if you wanted you could pluck the very moon from the sky. You could make the people of this nation chant your name with adoration greater than the Thrunes have ever heard, and you could make every devil in Hell bend their knee to you.

I will plead with all that I have for your father to leave you to live in peace, but I cannot say what he intends for you. Remain strong, and remain vigilant. Believe in yourself and your own strengths and you will overcome anyone and anything you face. You were born under wicked and unfair stars, but what others have called flaws have forged you into a man greater than those fools could ever aspire to be.

I love you and I will continue to love you from the deepest circles of Hell, no devil's will could ever be strong enough to take that from me. Go forward Vigo, brave and without hesitation. Say your prayers, eat well, and live with no regrets. I will be smiling up at you every step of your journey. You will always be my little prince.

Love now and forever,

Mom."

Vigo grit his teeth as the violet-skinned tiefling finished his reading. "Sounds like you were a real mama's boy Vigo. Now, I know I say we have an open-door policy here, but you didn't think that being a fugitive of House Charthagnion might be worth a damned mention?!" A clawed fist slammed into Vigo's nose, knocking he and the chair he was tied to backwards onto the floor. The coppery taste of blood draining into the back of his throat told him he had a broken nose. "Now you know what I think?" The tiefling asked with a sadistic grin. "I think your pops back in Cheliax would pay good money to whoever proved his little monstrosity was really dead."

Vigo felt his blood run cold. This is it. Tears welled up in his eyes, a sight that only made his tormentor cackle with glee. "By Asmodeus look at you, you're actually crying you deformed little freak!" The tiefling grabbed the letter from Vigo's mother, dangling it over his face. Teasing Vigo like he was a starving man and here was a flank of meat. "I bet this means a lot to you huh?" One clawed fingertip grabbed the edge of the paper. "You'd hate to see something happen to it?" A second finger grasped the parchment just beside the first. "That's a real shame..."

*RIIIIIIP*

. . .

Vigo leaned forward over his drink, looking at the reflection that peered back at him from inside his mug. "That's about all I remember, when I came to he was gutted on the floor. 'Course that was years ago now." Vigo shook his head, "I don't think it was me though, my fury can't cut ropes no matter how pissed off I get." He slammed his ale back, finishing it in three deep gulps. "Whatever happened that night, something forced out magic from within me that never used to be there. Want to see one of my favorite spells?"

Vigo smashed his mug into the side of the head of his conversational partner, laughing at their cries of pain. "That's a good one eh? Took me ages to master though, and it only works when you got a cup." In an abandoned warehouse back in his homeland of Cheliax, a cruel smile twisted at the corners of Vigo's mouth. "Now we've got a long night ahead of us, I'm going to take my time killing you. You're going to give me the name of every wretch you know who finds our queen's rule unsatisfactory, and for every name you give me, I'll spare a member of your family. Give me enough, and they all live. Now start talking."

. . .

The next morning, Vigo was greeted with a pleasant surprise; a letter.

"Her Infernal Majestrix, Queen Abrogail II, has declared martial law and urges all loyal citizens to stand up and do their part to keep the empire strong. Reaffirm your loyalty to Thrune and Cheliax and prove your devotion by swearing the Hellfire Compact."

Inside the envelope was another small, simple note. On it was a single word: Longacre.

Appearance and Personality:

Vigo was ugly, he was what happens when a human and an elf mix like oil and water. His ears are long but they're rounded at the ends, he's got the slender legs of his elven mother but the short arms of his human father, and he's shaped like something from a child's drawing. Even his eyes were mismatched, and perhaps the only thing beautiful about him was the long black elven hair he inherited from his mother.

Vigo is meant to represent the side of Charisma that isn't physical beauty, but rather pure conviction and personality. His natural confidence despite his visible deformities garners respect, which he then manipulates into results. While his mind is conspiratory in the wider scheme of things his demeanor can be violent or unpredictable, and he's cruel to those he deems beneath than himself. Vigo tirelessly chases power now, eager to prove himself to his country and House Thrune so that he may undermine his enemies.

He harbors an intense hatred for his father, a man he's never met, and the man he blames for his mother's death. Vigo grew up in a predominantly tiefling boarding house and spent his childhood and teen years writing back and forth to his mother in hiding. Having little contact with the outside both due to his appearance and his past caused him to pour himself into his books. The sudden combination of his mother's death and the awakening of latent oracle powers caused his already fragile psyche to shatter, sending him down a slippery slope of cruelty and ambition fueled by a desire for vengeance.

Botting/Tactics:

In combat if you're ever required to bot Vigo, your best bet is to use the Demoralize action or Guidance spell, as both can be used endlessly. He prefers to be on the front lines using his spells and intimidation to debilitate and shut down the opposition.

Out of combat, Vigo makes use of his Knowledge skills to gather information whenever possible, and tries to use Bluff to coerce individuals before resorting to Intimidation.
