Male Human Bard (Savage Skald) 1
![]() Seeing the distance between the group and the goblins, Velkirth ceases his orations and keeps an eye on the filthy buggers. I'm not much use this far from them sadly. Stopping my Bardic Performance after Round 1. I could maintain it for the archers but at this distance it's not really worth it so planning on saving it for when we lock in with them again. Should leave me with 7 rds left for the day. ![]()

![]() Velkirth draws his sword as the little creatures charge toward them, raising his voice over the sound of steel being drawn. Take heart! While their numbers are great, was this also not true of the trolls that attempted to bring down the mighty Jarl Gelgothan?! Standard action to start Inspire Courage Bardic Performance (using Perform Oratory if it matters).

![]() Velkirth leans his head towards Kari, his voice pitched low. The choice in our representative isn't ideal. We must simply deal with it for now. In the field is another matter. Remember they have the bear you hold so dear in their possesion so it's best to keep a civil tongue for now. Intending for this to be a whisper, which I think is DC 25 Perception if it matters. ![]()

![]() Agreed on the leader being permanent issue. We're not picking our king or anything. As far as the spellcaster thing, I think there's a certain amount of leeway on that one. First off it's not like we're wearing signs or anything and I don't think he's trying to bait us into getting shot. My feeling was more "Don't do any overt spellcasting style movements or speech" as those would be a bit more obvious than simple talking. ![]()
Male Human Bard (Savage Skald) 1
![]() Yeah I've been a bit silent for the most part so I can understand that. While I know the concept for my character, its still hard for me to fit him into the idle "chit-chat" between characters as I don't know he fits with the rest of the group just yet. He doesn't have as many common interests/hooks as some of the others seem to. ![]()
Male Human Bard (Savage Skald) 1
![]() As far as naming a leader, are there any volunteers? I'm playing a charismatic (at least mechanically) bard whose backstory has him coming from a long line of skalds to kings. I know we also have a really talky-talk oracle as well who could make the mechincal rolls well. That being said, it certainly doesn't come down to just dice rolls so are there people who want to take the reins regardless of skill selection? I'd be fine assuming the roll if people don't want to, but given my build I'm guessing I'll have plenty of other opportunities to stretch my RP muscles, as it were. ![]()

![]() Velkirth watches warily as he and his companions are gathered up. It seems they were off the hook for the dead Ravens but that didn't sound like they had improved their lot all that much. Captain Wulfric, its a glad thing to hear that you finally believe our innocence. Do you have any thoughts as to who would want your men dead or as you said, what they were doing this far afield? Charisma check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 ![]()

![]() I gotta say I'm really loving the game so far. The word "Immersive" comes to mind. The story is already hooking me in and I still don't know where we're going to end up. Also, everyone is doing an amazing job and it feels like I'm reading a novel more than looking at individual forum posts. ![]()
Male Human Bard (Savage Skald) 1
![]() Velkirth was only just able to hide his surprise at the old man's sudden transformation. Looking at the others he shrugged, I know of great epics that start much like this. Let us hope ours ends better than some of them. His tone already speaks to his acceptance of his new "companions". ![]()
Male Human Bard (Savage Skald) 1
![]() Velkirth chuckled to himself, slowly settling in before the fire. I too seek Trollheim but not for so mysterious a reason as these others. I simply haven't been there in some time. His voice loses its mirth and his deep voice goes soft, his fists clenching until the knuckles crack. Although should one of the white witches' thralls be about, let them hear and come. They will be put down as should be done. ![]()
Male Human Bard (Savage Skald) 1
![]() Velkirth pulls back on the reins, halting his horse at the edge of the firelight. Dismounting, the wind ruffled the thick furs draped over his frame as he led his mount closer to the fire's warmth. Hobbling it close enough to the heat, he moves forward towards the group of people. A most eclectic group, this. The big man is the picture of an Ulfen bloodline, tall and broad shouldered with shoulder length brown hair held back from his face with a leather band. His face is handsome in a rugged sort of way, a man not afraid to get stuck in the thick of it when necessary. Wearing a thick bearskin to keep out the cold there is also a longsword strapped to his side and a brace of javelins sticking up over a shoulder. He squats near the fire, resting on his heels as he puts his hands towards the flames' warmth. One of them is pitch black, those used to the area clearly able to see the advanced indications of previous frostbite although his hand doesn't seem the worse for it. Greetings friends. Tis a cold night to be out alone so I hope you don't mind me availing myself of your fire. My name is Velkirth Rimetongue. Are you travelling companions or simply lone souls like myself this evening? ![]()
Male Human Bard (Savage Skald) 1
![]() Velkirth is mostly built, gotta buy equipment and note final numbers. Question nightflier regarding the traits selection. There are 2 traits that I like, one from Irrisen and one from the Land of the Linnorm Kings. Given the borderland nature of Velkirth's backstory would it be possible to take them both or should I only go with one? There is an amount of mechanics-based reasoning for this but I also like the flavor as well. Totally cool if you want me to stick with one only. Thanks. |
