The vampire spawn corpses quickly shrivel and turn into a greenish gas that billows away toward the south archway....


Kepler tears down the vampire spawn in front of him with his first savage claw rake.... He finishes off the other two with the rest of his flurry, leaving a clear path to Von Ulrik....


To confirm critical slam on Derrik....1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 plus 1 extra negative level.... Not a crit!

Small note Wweapons of higher enhancement bonus bypass lower forms of DR.. for example +3 bypasses silver and cold iron DR, +4 adamantine, +5 Alignment Based and +6> Epic DR. Dawnbringer counts as +3 and Excalibur is +5.. and higher against Evil outsiders.

Stepping diagonally across the spawn killed by Yingzen brings Derrik within reach of three other spawn, which swiftly fall to pieces under Dawnbringer and Excalibur! A path to their sorcerous leader, who wields what can only be the Hammer of Thor, is quickly being cut!

Creeping along the west wall to the south wall, Yingzen springs out from between Koran and Kepler to impale a vampire spawn on his Elven curved blade! With a hair-raising howl, the vampire spawn seems to smolder and shrivel, and falls off Yingzen's blade to crumble into pieces on the floor!
