Ukrim snorts at Glenda's words, grinning widely nudging her in the shoulder.

"Yer richt aboot that, Glenda. A've ne'er heard o' a drow wi' a kind hert while thay crept deep underground." His attention turned towards Snorri, giving a little nod to him with a look of approval upon his face. "Ye handled yersel' weel, m' laird. Thay offendit wi' petty wurds bit ye remained as solid as stane. Thay wull break against ye lik' a cheap pick upon a diamond."

The young monk looked over his group with a smile, they had all remained calm despite the danger and the temptation to get into a fight with the Drow. Their enemy would make a mistake eventually and then, then they'd learn the tenacity and the danger of insulting Dwarves.

Ukrim wouldn't necessarily move too much when the Drow approached their gathering, the young monk watching the man approach openly for the moment. He watched his hands and, just as importantly, the others that had traveled with him. Their reactions would be just as telling as Damiel's in the next moment.

He had expected Snorri to have spoken up in that moment but when Nalnera there, his eyebrow would raise only for a moment but along with it came a smirk as well.

"She didnae blether fur maist o' th' week bit wis th' foremaist tae speak up tae th' Drow. Howfur interesting." Ukrim thought to himself. He continued to sip at his ale and eat his stew, casually watching the draw for any shady movements and watching his companions to see how they react.

The meeting with the lord went exactly as expected; he had generally no idea what was being said and had decided that is would be of utmost importance that he learns their tongue as quickly as he could. The thought of allegiances with the Drow, however, put a tightness in his belly as his mind drifted back to the monastery and the training he put in. The Drow were an ancient enemy, fighting the Dwarves in the deepest and darkest of tunnels. He had learned old ways to combat them and the nightmarish creatures that called the Azathyr home. Like Snorri, he too was flustered that the first place they have arrived has made a treaty with such wicked creatures and treats them with disdain.

"We'll be duin tae deal wi' th' menace shuid thay prove a threat. A guid night's rest wid be maist appreciatit`, then we kin huv a go tae learn whit we kin aboot th' mines 'n' aboot thae Drow." When the Drow appear, he watched them with furrowed brows for a moment. His body stays tense just for a bit, just in case they should try something foolish, but he seems to relax once they settle into their table.

"Ah dinnae lik' thaim." He mumbles, drinking his mug of beer and eating his stew quietly.

Ukrim almost cheerily places the handaxe that he has one his side upon the marble rack. He grins at the nearest guard and awaits the others to head in and meet the lord of the city.

Ukrim would travel with the caravan of Dwarves and Svirfneblin, looking over the variety of housing and different materials. He would pull out a little sketchbook and if any others looked at it, they'd see that they were detailed charcoal sketchings of the architecture. From the way that they manipulated the stone with magic to create a winding, defensive entrance. The marble structuring and design would catch his eye and he would copy down the angles and designs of the Gallery of Gods. Almost like Dasur, he'd have to catch up to the wagon when he was busy trying to capture the perfect representation of the Svirfneblin design.

"Magnificent. Thae homes ur perfect. Yer fowk hae sic a pure class, wid it be a'richt fur me tae blether wi' yer masons at some point? A'm waantin' tae hear how come thay decided th' design thay hae." He asked Iverna, looking absolutely hopeful. The old ruins of home were nothing like this, already he could teach his home such different methods.

When they arrived to the top of the staircase, his sightseeing would finally cease to be. There was an issue going on and as he the guards talked to Ivy, he very quietly moved up alongside the king. No weapons drawn, nothing obviously dangerous about him, but he watched them carefully for hostilities.

I'd like to do a Sense Motive for the purpose of being able to tell when a fight is going to happen and negotiations have broke down, if they even do. Ukrim thinks himself as a bodyguard to the others; his training makes him perfect in diplomatic situations. I'd also like to try and pick up Ivy's reactions, she is kind of a mystery to us.

Ukrim had been struggling with the mere basics of Undercommon, the language so strange and different from anything he knew. He internally cursed himself for focusing on his fighting lessons more than his spirit's teachings. Outside of that though, he has maintained an upbeat, almost bubbly personality still. Excited to be helping the svirfneblin and excited to be making progress, he nods in agreement with Dasur and Snorri.

"Aye, we shuid gang 'n' see thair laird. We wantae pat th' best foot tae th' future, richt?" The short dwarf would say, looking around. "A'd loue tae study howfur thay build thair homes, see whit we kin learn fae it."

Ukrim will frown a bit, looking back towards the weakened gnomes that are there waiting in the cart.

"Ah will bade back, keep an eye oot fur thaim wi' that yin svifneblin. Ye a' be safe, a'richt?"

Ukrim is still a bit injured and has the best chance to notice something wrong and Ivy can communicate with him. He'll stay back for the time being and keep an eye out.

Ukrim helps carry the gnomes upon his back, gracefully moving up and down the rope there and assisting the weakest ones into the cart. Each time he comes down the rope, he stares at that wall for a moment before returning to his work and each time that he returns, he stares again. Near the end though, he finally loses it and comes closer.

"Ah'ament th' ainlie yin seeing thare is something wrong 'ere, richt?" He says as he approaches the wall, staring at it intently. Finally, the lines begin to form and he hoots in excitement. "Mah mates, thare is a door 'ere! Shuid we gang in?"

Ukrim follows behind the wizard, waving eagerly at the svirfneblin and hoping to put them at least a bit more at ease. The fact that the Sheriff was murdered sat uneasy on the monk's mind though. Why kill him when they had them all captured and leave the others alive?

Dasur, a'm needin' ye tae teach me howfur tae blether tae thaim. Ah hate haein a damn interpreter, na offense o' coorse. Cuid ye hulp me?" Ukrim asks the knowledgeable, if somewhat distracted, wizard.

I'm assuming they're speaking Undercommon?

Ukrim smiles at the svirfneblin, looking at them all and helping the weakest ones settle on the ground. When they begin to speak the common tongue of the Darklands. His eyes start to widen and his grin gets bigger as he takes a step back towards the others.

He ends up next to the Nalnera and leans in, whispering quietly in her ear in Dwarven.

"Well...I hae na idea whit in th' world they're saying. Dae ye?" He whispers, looking over the survivors. "Streenge tae. Thair friend hud his throat slit bit they spiders dinnae hae weapons. Whit ye think?"

Maybe there was more going on than they imagined.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

I realized that Ukrim has no Undercommon or Gnome or anything. So unless they start speaking Dwarven, he will smile and nod most of the time. I'm going to have Sense Motive rolled not to tell what they're saying is a lie but to get a hunch for their feelings and their worries.

Ukrim would look back, nodding to the girl he was reminding himself was royalty internally.

"Aye, we mist free th' gnomes. Th' monster kin wait." He said, turning and shouting back towards the royal host of dwarves behind him."Th' gnomes ur ower 'ere. Th' bas git awa', climbed doon a nook!"

As he turned and looked, he watched as Glenda was moving and touching the spider. The spider he hadn't punched. The spider that fell unconscious as Dasur used his marvelous magic.

"Hey...uhh...Glenda...you did...umm...you did murdurr it, richt?" He shouted over, a concerned look coming across his face as he drew his hand axe. Oh dear.

"Glenda, pat doon this runt fur me. Ah will pursue th' ither, see whit's ahead." Ukrim would then move over the ground where the lard once was, still feeling faint and the pain of the bite was settling onto him but he wasn't about to let a bloodsucker like this monster escape. Quickly, he pursues after it.

30ft. movement to try and catch up with the spider. If necessary, I'll make a perception check to try and spot the spidery ambush.

Ukrim ducks underneath that volley of spinnerets, the web passing over him. Ducking low, he falls into a roll and springs up with surprising alacrity for a dwarf and tries to smash a fist against the spider's side. He rolls past for a moment, his leg whipping to crack against its side.

Seeing that skis'raal tries to escape, Ukrim musters up his strength and launches a palm strike at the skittering, fleeing beast.

Ukrim feels the bite sink into his arm and he palm strikes the spider fast to try and keep the poison from sinking in too deeply. Already though, he feels his arms grow tired and sluggish.

"Git back, Dasur. Thair poison is pure tough!"

As the spiders move in, the small dwarf crouches and pulls back from the one south of him. He waits for the instincts of the northern spider to kick in and strike at him. When it comes, his elbow comes soaring after its face with a crushing blow. Following through, he uses his moment to cartwheel through the air and bring his leg down like an axe on its vulnerable thorax.

"Bade behind me Dasur, ah will tak' care o' thae beasts!" The short dwarf murmurs, cracking his scarred knuckles. He still feels the wave of energy resonating in his bones, keeping him aware that the mage's magic was still working.

"C'moan, let's barnie!" The monk say as he rushes in towards the first talking spider, leaping off the ground in an incredible display of athleticism. His knee comes soaring in, aiming to take the spider's head off and disorient it. He'd try to hold them off and let the others come in afterwards, keep the space of the floor open and draw in any other foul creatures that were hiding.

Move action to move 20ft. Standard action to attack. Going to be using Stunning Fist against the spider.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
DC for Stunning Fist is DC 14 Fort save.

I am fine for the Waskally joining us, I think all of our builds are pretty badass and sensible and we got some good teamwork going on. That and I trust you not to just murder us outright :P

Google works fine by me for the purpose of maps and imagery. I am all for it since the little bit of artwork I saw was very well done.

I can't think of anything else, I'm just excited to play this character again!

I posted my question to him! I'm excited to see this group be kept alive, I had high hopes for the roleplay we could do!


Yeah, the campaign fizzled out in the last few books, where the publisher dried up all his good will and didn't deliver the last book. It is a shame, for certain.

I'm excited to see a DM on board for the group; I was really excited for this campaign and to see where things would go. I feel that the group has really good plot-pushing capability and a pretty fun party arrangement while also having quite a bit to build on and roleplay in downtime sections.

My questions are this...

How did you handle the exploration/kingdom-building aspects of this campaign? I ask because that was a huge draw to me since I've been trying to get into a Kingmaker game and this was sold to me as a "Kingmaker-In-The-Darklands" kind of game.

Seriously though, we're a pretty excited group and very good posters (if I say so myself) and we're really hoping to continue the adventure and uncover more about what was going to happen and all that fun stuff.

Ukrim grins widely as the man begins to grow larger and larger; larger than any man or any dwarf he had ever seen. Without hesitation, he moves to climb up their fearless leader's armor and form to reach the ledge and the stubborn stone.

Once upon the ledge, he grabs hold of the rock any way he can and begin to pull to assist.

Hey there guys!

My girlfriend is visiting me this Monday from Texas and will be here for about two weeks. I'll try to keep up on posting but it may be a bit infrequent till she leaves. Feel free to bot the tiniest monk that could if necessary.

I agree with Dagmar, we should grab another applicant if we've lost Hogun. It isn't that far ahead in the campaign and would still work well. Perhaps he wasn't able to make it and there was a last minute change in who was coming with us? :D

Sorry all, the boards didn't update and show me that there was wonderful posts waiting here.

Ukrim will listen in carefully now, silent and with his arms crossed, looking between the bald woman and the rest of his comrades. The mention of the drow made his brows furrow more then, lips pressing together. He had trained to fight such ancient enemies, the dark-skinned elves of the Azathyr. They were cunning, devious, and incredibly dangerous.

The mention that there were Drow within the village right now, even as they spoke, brought a look of anger to Ukrim's face.

"Thay cannae be trusted. Let us rescue yer friends then 'n' then see tae this envoy thay sent."

Turning, he'd nod back to both Dagmar and Snorri before mentioning for Ivy to travel with him. He'd draw back out his sling, just in case an attack came, and would follow the path that Dagmar pointed out upon the ground.

So Ukrim has no Survival so I am hoping that as long as the trail doesn't deviate too much, we'll be able to track it. Here is his stealth though, as he scouts ahead.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Moving quietly, he'd keep his eyes focused on the dark and look for the terrible creatures that had claimed the travelling wagon.

I think Dwarven Death Metal should 100% be a thing. They can even take the photos out in the northern forests looking dangerous and edgy too.

Ukrim watches the svirfneblin woman pull back her hood and he quirks his head just a little bit. He had never met one of the deep gnomes before and he could see the similarities between her and the gnomes on the surface. She was beautiful if strange and Ukrim's wariness became curiosity but he quickly remembers the task at hand.

"We're lookin fur th' village o' Kladdenvalt bit we're lookin tae save ony bides we kin fae that attack. Whaur ur oor enemies?" He seems eager to get on with tracking the attackers of the wagon, to have a chance to prove his worth to the potential allies of the soon-to-be newly arisen Dwarven kingdom.

Ukrim will stare daggers at the woman for a moment's time, looking at the others before putting it away calmly. After all, he was far more deadly with his bare fists than any sling.

He remains silent for now, moving to the side of his king and to try and be in the way of any attack that could be launched against the others.

Ukrim stops before he heads of and looks carefully through the darkness. "How cuid ah hae missed thaim?" He thinks quietly to himself, moving around the group with a protective motion. He does draw out his sling, just in case the voice in the darkness proves to otherwise be unfriendly or his sire commands him to strike it down.

Ukrim stays silent as the others discuss their next course of action and as the details slowly come in, a firm smile spreads across his face.

"Aye, thae ur th' guid ones." He thinks to himself for a moment, looking towards their king-to-be. The dwarf's words seem to make him stand taller as he gives a nod, looking down the dark road in the distance.

"As ye wish, m' laird. Ah will be as quick 'n' as quiet as a fox." He turns and makes his way down the road and up upon the northern embankment. Ukrim's feet carry him quietly and deftly, as he moves from one side to the other, always looking for the next threat.

Ukrim will scout ahead about 100ft and try to maintain it. He'll try to use cover whenever possible and limit how many directions he can be seen from.

Stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
