I would've been running laps around my office if Jim would've announced all this in a stream at PaizoCon lol

5he final floor of book 2 features multiple wisps patrolling hallways. But how do they deal with closed doors? They have no limbs to manipulate knobs, and opening doors would ruin their stealth because of the diabolic flickering flames. It seems possible they could squeeze under doors thanks to their spongy body but nothing specifies they have squeezing abilities like some creatures explicitly have.

They have the Air trait which probably supports the notion of them squeezing through.

Absolutely, I think it creates some fun interactions. My point is that is isn't close to a Press Q to Win button or anything like that.

I would LOVE if my party sprung this level of surprise tactics on me even in a boss fight.

Well they don't bypass hit points entirely (suffocation does HP damage but does have an increasingly likely death on critical failure for the fort save). Death in many circumstances for this would be 5+ rounds out but it is highly situational. An enemy with allies to aid them in this scenario is very unlikely to die at all let alone have their HP pool skipped over.

In the matrix training room it is very easy to envision the perfect scenario to execute this but I've never been part of a 2e encounter that fits those circumstances in reality.

Having better options at higher costs is not power creep.

I think these conversations where only part of the community has the resources to read the actual entries really set us up for failure because the people with the PDF get to run around with their pitchforks before most other people have any chance to think about it. It frames the conversation in that "power creep" mode when it wouldn't be otherwise for items that are well within the power scope of similar level and cost items (or things fall within the bounds of clear errata).

And framing something such as the Wand of Choking Mist as a "win button" is outrageous when "breathers" can hold their breath and use one action to get out of the burst. There is a chance that using this wand could create a win condition but it requires coordination with your party to pull off (and even then has a risk of failure against plenty of enemies). Bonus points it would be an encounter outcome that felt really satisfying for the person who pulled it off. That isn't a game changing item, it is the same as many other items that can tip the scales of battle but still need party coordination to pull off. A tool that when used correctly can boost your chances but very often won't even be in consideration against normal enemies who will simply walk away from it.

I say this as a 1e arcanist/summoner. I am very familiar with options that end the game for the rest of the party. Nothing in this book (which I do have the PDF for) comes close to earning a genuine "power creep" label.

Just got my Flip-Mat this weekend and it looks great! However I noticed there seems to be a door missing, either that or I am blind.

If I was operating that place: only way in is a rope trick. Only way out is hopefully remembering to bring a way to teleport

Is this flip-mat good for the original version of the module too, or just the new one?

They won't work for the original "Crown of the Kobold King." Details (and slight spoilers) below:

So is it safe to assume there won't be further flip mat support for this?

My guess, and it's only speculation, is that it'll release on the 26th or 27th - exactly one month before the date for retail sales.

Look at you with your logical speculation. Show off why don't you?

Has anything been said about a street date for the players guide? Since the product page is nonexistent (publicly, at least), I wasn’t sure where to ask or to look.
Thanks for your inquiry. We are working on the player's guide. It will be a free PDF. We don't have a hard date yet, but it should be later in this month, yes. This is about a month before retail sales start, so it is on target.

Any chance there is a more specific date at the ready here? We are planning on session 0 this week. I'm gonna throw together a google doc of the information if there is no shot at this coming before Thursday?

Thanks, friend.

Looks like the way we format non-magical armors is the culprit—indication that Gray Maiden Plate is not common got stripped from this at some point.

Gray Maiden plate is, in any case, should be Rare, and should come with story repercussions since wearing the armor would impact others' first impressions of you, particularly in Korvosa or nearby areas.

Alternately, make it a level 3 item with a cost of 50 gp.

Sorry about the confusion.

At this point, the only way to "gain access" to a suit of the armor is to loot it from a Gray Maiden you fight in the adventure or to convince them to give you a suit as a gift. Access is at this point 100% GM controlled.

We may do more with the Gray Maidens in a future product, but this adventure was not the right place to have them play much more than a cameo role mostly kept to the NPC side of things.

This pretty precisely matches my assumption. No worries. I love this adventure. Running our 3rd session this week!

Equipment Balance Problem:

Small oversight on the Gray Maiden Plate. Not specified as uncommon (or given an access entry) and becomes pretty objectively the best standard heavy armor in the game without it.

Common sense it would not be available to all PCs but many aren't going to know the context/lore.

I've never kept track of these but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't create the subforum until the first volume's street date.

Morlibint should've been given the ability to craft magical items imo, he already has a good crafting bonus.

I know I can just give anyone the required ability if I want, I was just wondering if there's someone in Otari that canonically knows how to craft magic items.

There would obviously be some crafting capacity at the Garrison or any other location with the Workshop trait. I have the Garrison offer free rune-attachment services - for runes they sell (mostly fundamental with spotty property rune stock). The twist there is they record what rune was applied to what weapon by who and for who as a whole bureaucratic arms tracking thing.

And outside of the few (couple? Wrin and Carman?) NPCs who have full stat-blocks there is no reason to assume somebody like Morliblint doesn't craft.

Gotta go bail out the home lodge. Probably some side effect from the Blakros Museum. We really need to burn that place to the ground!

How many adventurer's corpses would be burnt inside? I put at least 2 there myself.
