Tierney spends part of the morning engaged in studying his grimoire and uttering the odd syllable on occasion. When he completes his mental exercises he stores his spellbook and takes up one of his swords. For the next half hour he limbers up and then throws himself into elaborate swordplay without pause. Oddly, no matter his exertions, not a single bead of sweat appears on his skin.

At last finished with his practice, Tierney turns to the others and asks "Shall we move on toward finding this Tremble Tooth?"

"We will probably be shedding blood soon" Tierney says while pointing his sword in the direction of the voices. With that he removes a small vial from his pouch and drinks it down.

Since Revion did not use the potion, Tierney will drink it. He is in bad shape right now.

The magus grimaces as he swallows the fetid-smelling draught, coughs harshly and nearly doubles over. For a brief moment, he silently holds his stomach and shudders. Then, breathing heavily, he stands again looking stronger despite the pained expression he wears.

Then he makes his way to Revion and says "If needed, I can boost you up" he laces his fingers together to make a foothold "and you could pull me up from there. But I don't think up is where we should go right now."

Tierney's ears ring from the impact with the ground and he tries to gather his wits. Voices emanate from above but he cannot make sense of them; it all sounds like confused shouting to him.

Nik'o's question intrigues Tierney and he momentarily forgets the coffin as he waits for Revion's answer.

"I never learned anything of the Draconic Prophecy; I always thought it to be more fraud than fact."

"This is certain, however, there is something attached to the coffin below" Tierney adds while pointing to the hidden switch in the crevice between the floor and the bottom of the pedestal under the coffin. It seems to be connected to something inside the pedestal (or inside the coffin?) that is in the DC 20 Perception spoiler.

He also announces the presence of the whispering that emanates from it as he moves to the side of the coffin. If there are hinges on the lid then he will move to that side in hope of using the lid as a shield against anything inside.

Gedeon? Oh yes, the red-haired man Tierney thinks. He is too embarrassed to admit that he lost track of the man during the approach to the building and the fray that ensued.

"If the creature was sufficient to overcome Gedeon and make off with him then it has probably slain him or will do so soon."

Now realizing that his words might have come across as cold to some here he adds "Sorry".

Tierney reaches into his pouch-belt and produces a small vial that he holds out to Revion. "If there are more confrontations then we need to be at full strength. This is a draught of healing." Tierney's speech pattern is odd and it is difficult to gauge him accurately based on it.

Hearing Helac's voice in his head shocks Tierney but the words have the ring of truth about them. With some reservations, Tierney sacrifices another of his spell-scars in the hope of aiding Nik'o.

Tierney had intended to burn the swarm where it stood, but now that it had engulfed Kiana he feared that the flames would take her as well. Seeing that the half-elf was able to affect it, he turned to face the other foe and was caught off-guard by Minitash's transformation.

Still, he had an option to impede the kalashtar without harming Nik'o. He stabs his arm outward and, in response, a slick coating manifests on the stairs under Minitash's feet.

The unexpected turn of events catch Tierney off-guard and his reaction is initially slow. He considers the situation overly long before taking action. Finally, he turns his left forearm outward and mutters something inaudible. In response, the air before him shimmers momentarily.

And what good is the vault if it cannot be opened? Tierney wonders.

Seeking Nik'o head for the stairs reminds the magus that they were hired to investigate this manifest zone. The spectacle before them seems to exemplify it. If that is the case then this is an obvious place to examine. With that it mind, he makes for the stairs as well but never takes his eyes off of the threatening manifestation from beyond.

"Kiana, whatever we are looking for seems to be appearing here in this building. It is probably best to continue on upstairs."
