Theon reads over the missive and grins with a glint of excitement clear in his eyes. 'Onward to the next mission, Theon.' That was what his uncle always told him before leaving home. Although Taldor does not seem so much home to the young Lore Warden; he was becoming accustomed to the hustle and bustle of Absalom...

Thanks again for running all these, Devildoc! As always, I had a great time in your games. Looking forward to joining you again in your Goblins series next month!

I agree that this was another great run by GM Devildoc!

Despite the overwhelming exhaustion that threatens to chase Theon to bed, he struts triumphantly back to Dreng. "Of course, sir, of course." He gives Dreng a knowing wink. "This was an incredibly exciting venture. I would like to thank you, for selecting myself and these other fine Pathfinders for this job."

Theon stares in awe at the trove of documents located by the group. "That sly dog, Dreng. I imagine he knew the value of this find and wanted to pass off the glory of it to others instead of claiming it himself. Say what you will about him, I like him."

Theon will work with the others to gather and sort the documents as best they can, with a large grin the entire time!

Ah, forgot to add those penalties in last two rounds... not that it mattered.

With Vlazis' boost, Theon is able to finally overcome his exhaustion and push through the foul stench. He clenches his teeth and pushes himself further than he had ever done before as he slashes his glaive at the undead thing!

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 18
Damage: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 3 = 13

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9

Theon takes a step away from the beast and attempts another attack, but the foul odor wafting off it causes him to nearly vomit and once again his attack misses terribly...

Oy.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8

"Gods! What is that disgusting thing?!" He moves forward to engage the monstrosity by striking around the corner; however, his poor positioning blocks the attack!

Theon nods and pats Vlazis on the back. "Well, he is an gnome. I wonder if this is what is needed to be inscribed on the blackboard?"

Theon quickly walks away from the strange scene and joins the other in searching. "Let us wrap up our investigation here quickly. This place is quite unnerving."

Theon stares at the Mann he just slapped, not quite sure what's to think about the fact he did not even flinch. "This place is starting to unnerve me. I suggest we hurry along before these guys decide to stop standing around and actually do something about us.." He then decides to try and wake the sleeping gnome. Maybe if they explained themselves... He walks over and tries to wake Fimbrik by shaking him.

"Only one sure way to find out." Theon grins and slaps one of the 'bodyguards' across the face as hard as he can!

Theon follows into the room with Vlazis. He stares at the strange sight. "Illusions?"

Theon picks himself up from the ground and looks sheepishly around, thankful that none of his comrades drew more attention to his fall. "Skai, did you see the gnome in your scouting? Which room is he in?" He then turns to the house and shouts. "Hello! Fimbrik, we are Pathfinders looking to meet with you? Please come out, we are not here to harm you." He shrugs and looks at the others. "He already knows we are here."

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2

Ooooor Theon trips over the couch and falls on his face! Lol

Theon moves into the room, vaulting over the couch and attacks one of the nearby beetles. "Quickly now, my friends."

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Theon takes a step closer and strikes out at one of the nearby beetles. "Make quick work of this creatures."

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Theon looks disappointed at the possibility of a dead end here; however, he says nothing when Mask tampers with the lock. He simply moves to keep an eye out...

"Interesting! Yes, I believe the gnome may know something about this. They are known illusionists. Let us hide the plate again and return once we have more information."

Hey all, had a rough day at work today and don't really have spirit for a post today. Business as usual tomorrow.

When Theon spots the name upon the altar, he alerts his companions to the find. He then spends some time looking over it to see if he can locate anything that stands out as suspicious.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

I can strive to maintain a faster posting rate.

Theon smiles. "They are only delusional if they fail the Test. Try telling Cayden that he was delusional."

Never played it, but I have GM'd this before. Also, so very sorry about my extended absence... I had a very long week.

Theon looks at the Wall of Names in somber silence as they pursue their next lead. It is there he finds his uncle's name, Carius d'Malheur. Theon takes a few moments of silence to honor his mentor and confidant. "Never forgotten, Uncle." He turns away with one last glance, before focusing upon the task at hand. He recognizes a few names and looks at them more closely. "This is odd. These epitaphs here are references to failed aspirants of the Test of the Starstone." He indicates the underlined sections. "See here? Those who fail the test are memorialized at the Shrine of the Aspirants here in Abasalom."

Theon rushes into the room and strikes out the nearest scorpion with Dawnbreaker!

Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 3 = 12

Theon grins at the hidden door. "Dreng truly is a sly one. I knew there had to be more to this than just a fetch mission for some wine. I wonder how he learned of this secret?" He looks into the darkened room. "Could one of you fine folks illuminate the darkness?"

Theon looks at the board again with skepticism, but slips his backpack from his shoulders and sets it to one side. "Perhaps without this excess weight I can cross safely." This will lower Theon's overall weight before 250 lbs. He then moves across the board slowly. "Not to tell you your own business, madam, but surely you can find the time to replace this with something more sturdy. This is a hazard to not only you and your employees, but your stock as well. Imagine how much product could be lost into that chasm should someone misplace their footing."

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

How wide is the crack?

Theon eyes the board warily. "I am not so certain about this board."

"Well in that case, I will take a tumbler of Opparan brandy!"

"The giant crocodile!" Theon exclaims. "How could I have forgotten the crocodile! And then poor Vlazis here nearly fell to his death when part of the top turret collapsed; however, our friend is made of sterner stuff. The troglodyte and his crocodile were not so fortunate. It was quite the harrowing adventure, I must say." He glances at Vlazis as the cleric approaches. "What is the good word?"

With all the practice of a minor nobleman's son, Theon graciously introduces himself. "Theon d'Malheur of House d'Malheur of Taldor. It is a pleasure to meet both you." He smiles and takes a seat. "I cannot agree more with both you fine gentlemen. As for what we have been up to, Janira, there is a story to tell!" He clears his throat before beginning.

"We were tasked to explore a recently opened up tower in the Cairnlands and hopefully retrieve a missing bard. The tower was filled with the most foul creatures you could imagine, troglodytes! Have you ever had this misfortune to smell one of those?" He lets out a deep sigh. "I had to burn my clothing I wore, because they stench was so foul and cloying, no amount of skilled washerwomen could remove it! We learned that many of their foul brood had infested the tower and were planning on sacrificing the bard to their heathen god, but we prevented such a travesty and returned triumphantly with a good bit of history and some interesting ancient arms from the lower levels. It was quite the adventure. I am not much of a storyteller, had you been there to pen the adventure I am sure it would sound much more grand that my telling."

Decided to just stick with what I have for Theon for now while I can enjoy it before the new Lore Warden becomes official in PFS.

Theon sneers at the beggar for a moment, before realizing it was simply Venture-Captain Dreng in disguise. He takes a moment to chastise himself for his loathsome reaction before listening intently to Dreng's instructions. "We shall retrieve this object for you, Captain. Although I fail to see why such a task requires an entire team of Pathfinders. Is there more to this mission?"

Theon's face lights up when they spot Janira. "Ah! Janira! It is a pleasure to see you again. Perhaps Vlazis can see to this task while we take a moment to greet an old friend?"

Excellent, DevilDoc! I will work on getting Theon updated a little later this afternoon. I had a late night last night when a ran over a mutated giant raccoon or possum in my squad car that decided to cracked the transmission cooler with his freakishly large body and then scurry away after disabling my vehicle.... which made me feel like I was crazy, because I never found what I ran over and killed my vehicle...

Clearly it was a Dire variation with the Advanced template, DR 20/-, and Regeneration 20...

Theon salutes his companions. "That was a worthy adventure, friends. I look forward to our next mission together!"

Just a reminder that Theon is utilizing the Slow progression for this and the next scenario!

I'm going to drop the Heirloom weapon trait for something a little more useful when I have a moment to look through the lists. I was going to plan on using Trips with my reach weapon, but the new Lore Warden just does not have anywhere near the viability that it used to for combat maneuvers.

Theon lets out an involuntary cry of pain as the large amount of acid burns down his neck and back. "Careful back there!" He is able to fight through the pain and pull out one of his own acid vials and throws it into the swarm of bats!

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Acid Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6*150%=9 Acid damage!

Boom!

Yes, I agree! I'm going to stick with Lore Warden as it fits with Theon's concept, but I'm going to drop his focus of Combat Maneuvers. The lose of extra bonuses really, really hurt that concept. I'm now going to focus on getting into the Student of War PrC in the Adventurer's Guide. I can get Int to AC so I think I"m going to swap Dex and Int and drop the Heirloom Weapon. Looking at working with Combat Patrol and possibly Whirldwind Attack.

With the new version of the Lore Warden being released in the Adventurer's Guide, I'll like be making some adjustments to Theon after this scenario via the 1st level rebuild rules.

"Aha! I knew something seemed off about this floor!" He says triumphantly when they located the hidden door. "I wonder what lies behind?" He then moves through the door once cleared for traps.

Once Theon is sure Vlazis is safe, he proceeds one more level down to the room with the strange altars. He then spends quite a bit of time, searching the area to figure out why this floor does not match up with the rest of the tower's layout.

Take 20 on Perception for a total of 26.

Theon would very much like to investigate that floor, but whatever the group decides.

Theon has a strength of 18 right now while he's enlarged, why don't we use him as the anchor point?

Theon gasps as the floor suddenly gives way and Vlazis drops down with the troglodyte and its crocodile companion. "Vlazis!" He rushes forward with Zarsuket, but then recalls his enlarged form and stops. "I dare not go any further for fear of causing another collapse. Hand me the other end of the rope, Zar. I will pull our friend up if he still lives..."

Yes, good luck guys! That looks to be brutal...

Going to change my actions as follows and use my roll from above.

Attack vs Touch AC: 12 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 14
Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5 * 50%= Swarm takes 7 fire damage if that hits.

Actions: Move - Draw Alchemist Fire. Standard - Throw at swarm.

Now in his enlarged form, Theon accepts the raging song into his heart and strides across the room to engage the troglodyte caster. He swings his massive glaive around in hopes of cleaving the beast in twine!

Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 18
Damage: 2d8 + 7 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6, 3) + 7 + 3 + 1 = 20

Theon spots the aggressive crocodile, draws out a potion, and drinks it down. Suddenly he grows in size rapidly!

5' step. Draw potion of Enlarge Person. Drink potion. Profit!

Oh! I also just remembered that Theon will be using the Slow Progression for this scenario. Otherwise he'd bump up to 2nd level and that will kill of my option for 2nd level Wounded Wisp.

None on Theon's part. He will wait for Skai to check the door for traps/locks and then once the all clear is given he will listen and then open the door if he doesn't hear anything.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
