Theon: Well, that started as mostly a joke given your description, and was only going to give like a 5 or 10 DC.. I didn't expect you to roll that low!!

Theon attempts to jump over the back of the sofa, but falls over the back side instead and lands solidly on the floor between the sofa and coffee table!

Mask is unable to connect from his angle, but Lorydahl snnaps her whip at the green tinged creature, breaking its tough carapace and killing it.

The beetle stand stunned.

Skai moves up to the door to see what is happening, and then uses her whip to assist Lorydahl.

With the beetle stunned, Mask takes the opportunity to rush behind it, creating an opening for Vlazis.

Lorÿndahl grins broadly as the beetle lies motionless on the ground, without hesitation she snaps her whip at the other beetle.

Vlazis backs away from his assailant, withdrawing his curative wand as he does so.

5', Draw wand, Start Infernal Healing

Loryndahl's whip cracks once more, ending the battle of the bugs. Silence falls upon the small home as the Pathfinders move fully within the living room.

Along the left wall from the entry resides a portal closed with solid wooden double doors, while two separate doors are on the right of the room. A set of stairs at the back of the living room split, one leading up and another leading down.

Vlazis murmurs a prayer and focuses on the doors set in the left wall.

No sense in triggering more of these things.

Assuming it's clear, he'll open the door.

Mask sheaths his weapons and moves to listen at the door, then stands behind Vlazis as he opens it.

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Theon picks himself up from the ground and looks sheepishly around, thankful that none of his comrades drew more attention to his fall. "Skai, did you see the gnome in your scouting? Which room is he in?" He then turns to the house and shouts. "Hello! Fimbrik, we are Pathfinders looking to meet with you? Please come out, we are not here to harm you." He shrugs and looks at the others. "He already knows we are here."

Vlazis opens the double doors to find an expansive bedroom with a bed in the middle of the room, and a small table and well worn chair towards the front of the house. A figure lies under a mound of covers, and two large burly men stand to either side of the foot of the bed.

Ah, greetings gentlemen. I apologize for disturbing you and your master. Is this still the home of Fimbrik the Arcane?

Vlazis receives no response at all from the men, and the lump of blankets does not stir.

Vlazis narrows his eyes suspiciously, and once more murmurs a divination. Detect Magic

VLazis detects magic within the room.

Rather than maintain the spell, Vlazis tests an educated guess by walking up and poking one of the guards on the forehead.

Will (if necessary): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

"Hey, how did that gnome get there, I saw him through the window iver there." She points at the opposite corner of the house.

Vlazis finger bounces off of the forehead of the man, but he remains unmoved by the interaction.

Theon follows into the room with Vlazis. He stares at the strange sight. "Illusions?"

I am not certain, but I believe so.

"Only one sure way to find out." Theon grins and slaps one of the 'bodyguards' across the face as hard as he can!

The man does not respond to Theon any more than he did to Vlazis.
Will save please?

Mask observes the interaction, unsure what is going on.

"Something doesn't pass the smell test," he says.

Well either they're the illusions of a master, or they're under some other sort of magic. Regardless, they aren't interfering.

Theon completely and totally believes that he has slapped a man across the face.

Sensing that something is wrong, but not sure what, Mask tries another door and continues searching.

I'll go ahead and try the last door (I'm in front of it).

Mask moves to the back of the house and peers through the door at the next room. This chamber is filled with desks, chairs, and cushions.. enough to comfortably seat 6 people at least. Papers and books lie scattered about on the desktops, creating an air of clutter in a well used room.

Theon stares at the Mann he just slapped, not quite sure what's to think about the fact he did not even flinch. "This place is starting to unnerve me. I suggest we hurry along before these guys decide to stop standing around and actually do something about us.." He then decides to try and wake the sleeping gnome. Maybe if they explained themselves... He walks over and tries to wake Fimbrik by shaking him.

Mask looks around the room he's found, glad it is not full of unresponsive gnomes or guards.

He begins working his way through the papers on the desk, looking for anything that might prove helpful.

Vlazis leaves the unnerving bedroom to join Mask in his search.

Theon shakes an unresponsive bundle of covers as the rest of the group troops out to look at the rest of the house.

Perception checks please? Mask rolled a 5.. he might notice the wall before running into it :-)

Now that Mask has found the trove of documents, he begins going through them thoroughly.

Skai helps look around the place, slightly disturbed by the non-responsive people, but willing to ignore them for now.

Theon quickly walks away from the strange scene and joins the other in searching. "Let us wrap up our investigation here quickly. This place is quite unnerving."

Mask takes a longer look at the documents spread out on the table, and finds a note hidden amongst the papers. Last handout on the link. Underneath the note is a hastily scrawled note that simply reads "Zimpar". The party remembers the name as that attached to the alter at the Shrine of the Failed, who's epitaph matched the fake name at the Wall of the Fallen.

As Skai peruses the rest of the room, she finds two sealed potion vials, each one labeled with an aging but still readable tag.

Well, I suppose we now know their.. password.

Theon nods and pats Vlazis on the back. "Well, he is an gnome. I wonder if this is what is needed to be inscribed on the blackboard?"

Skai pockets the potions for future use, and then says "Wiffle sounds like a password to me. Shall we go try it out?"

One more vote moves us back to the Shrine!

To the shrine!

The group packs it in and heads back across town in the grim drizzly dawn hours. Arriving at the Shrine, you find that despite the early hour, a crowd has already begun to form. From the muttering of the people gathered, it seems that Sir Reinhart, a Mendevian crusader intent on becoming a god, is about to attempt the Test of the Starstone atop his trusty steed. As you push towards the Shrine of the Failed and down the basement stairs, you hear everything from wagers and bets being placed to hopeful pleas and affirmations of success for the divine hopeful. Entering the cool marble building once more, you note that once again, the building is empty of even the caretakers.. it seems that everyone is watching Sir Reinhart attempt to prove himself a god. Quickly, you move down the steps to the shrine you discovered, pull out the chalkboard, and carefully scribe the word "Wiffle" thereon. With a quiet grinding, the illusion covered wall slides away to reveal a rough hewn passage.

Map is updated, please feel free to adjust or prep as you wish. You have now been up all night, and everyone is Fatigued

With his mace set alight, Vlazis will walk into the passage, I believe our quest may be nearing its end.

"Wow! Now this is exciting! How long do you think this has remained hidden?"

Skai leads the way, checking for any tripwires fore alarms and/or traps.

Lorÿndahl smiles at the sylph, and listens for any sounds from inside the shrine.

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

A tired Mask searches ahead, wary of any traps left by whoever went to such great care to conceal this passage.

As the group presses down the hewn passageway, the light quickly fades away behind you. You move gingerly into a natural maze, led by the light atop Vlazis' mace. Suddenly from the shadows lurches some creature that seems born of your very nightmares. Shadows and light glimmer over the seams of crude stiches holding the monstrosity together.. it seems to be cobbled together from different parts of festering and rotted bodies!

With a quick nod to Calistria, Lorÿndahl steps forward and slashes at the construct with her whip.

Swift Action: Cast Divine Favor; Move: forward 20'; Std: Attack

Mwk Scorpion Whip: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27 for slashing damage of : 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12

Mask studies the creature, trying to figure out how he might best defeat it, then moves around toward its side to try to flank it.

Loryndahl steps forward and flicks her whip out at the beast. It does not visibly react, but the weapon leaves a nasty cut along the creatures flank.

Mask begins to move around his target while studying it for weak spots.

Vlazis casts divine blessings upon the party.
