You are more likely to have the right spell if you stick to Player Core spells, especially the broadly useful ones. Enemies are less likely to have more situational spells and spells from other source books, since that would require extra books to run them. Conversely, using such spells makes you less susceptible to enemy counterspell.

I believe one of the big distinguishing factors between emanation and burst is how long each occurs. A burst happens and then is done (like a bomb blast), while an emanation has a continuous radiating effect.

Also this is wrong. There are instantaneous emanations. There's no difference between area effects apart from areas. There could be lines with duration.

I know this is a little laater, but you should try giving away Hero Points or the MVP of the previous session start with two instead of one. That way, everybody is at the same level. But being engage, give a bonus.

Personally, I think it's kinda funny, if anything. It has never bothered me at all, at worst it was an opportunity to badmouth necromancers in a light-hearted way.
