No worries. I'll post them up within a few days.

Use the notes, I was a guinea pig for the slot-zero and ran it in parallel to Al's second and without those notes i would not have the beautiful memory of the look on the faces of my table of players at certain points.

I'd happened across the archetype by accident the other day, and it inspired me to immediately make one and race to my nearest PFS game.

Sure engouh, the musketeer is specifically barred from Society play, so I needed to come make a frowny face to the only people I know who might sympathize.

JP Thanks for replying.

You say that having the title is irrelevant (to having Hellknight armor), but in the Faction Guide there was a way to have Hellknight armor without levels in Hellknight PrC. The armor seems definitive for Hellknights and would be nice for characterisation.

You are right, I can just come up with a RP reason why I have the armor, but then at some tables the GM will be ok and at others the GM will be unhappy with it. My character is very lawful and would never wear Hellknight armor without a legal, lawful reason. He would rather have other armor. Your parade armor sounds a nice idea.

Things like Hellknight armor are just great Golarion flavor to me. Having a restriction on its use or availability adds to the mystique which is great. But if the restriction is so strict then the flavor is lost. I think it sounds fair that if you have the Hellknight title that you should be permitted to wear Hellknight armor, but that is just my opinion.I'm interested in the opinions of other potential Hellknights.

Without clarification, I think I will just go in a different direction regarding armor with this character.

Hey deluge, we cross paths again (you ran a few tables i was at at PaizoConOz 2010), I am currently running a fighter with the intent of her going Hellknight PrC at level 6, personally i think that it makes sense from a character/RP standpoint that you build a relationship with the order you will be joining at Level 3 within the PrC prior to it, so i fully intend to buy HellKnight plate at the soonest opportunity she is a Hellknight in training it makes sense she would be wearing the armor, she doesn't get the special training for it to work as effectively as when she hits the appropriate levelm of the PrC but it works for me, since she is an uncouth man trapped in a womans body it makes sense to me.

Sitting here typing that i hope it makes sense by sleep starved brain is trying to tell me something so i am off to sleep

Pathfinder Society at Good Games Sydney and Burwood

To secure your seat, please email me at ajrigg at gmail dot com and let me know which store you will be attending. Some time may be available before the games so, if you need any help building a character, let me know.

Hope to see you there.

below is the details for the next game

Pathfinders,

On Saturday August 27, we are continuing the Pathfinder Society "First Steps" introductory scenarios with Part II: "To Delve the Dungeon Deep", in which you venture into the massive haunted dungeons beneath an abandoned siege tower in the deadly Cairnlands. But fear not - if you missed Part I, let us know - if at least three players request it, we'll run a parallel session of "In Service to Lore" where, in your first mission as a Pathfinder agent, the head of the Grand Lodge sends you on a number of missions throughout the metropolis of Absalom, all in the pursuit of knowledge.

The venues remain:

Good Games Sydney: Level 1, 857 George St, Sydney, 02 9281 1760.
Good Games Burwood, Level 1, 195a Burwood Rd, Burwood, 02 9715 3229.

The games begin at 11:30 and we aim to be finished by 17:00.

To secure your seat, please reply to let me know which store you will be attending and which scenario you'd like to play. Some time may be available before the games so also let me know if you need any help building a character.

Please feel free to forward this invitation to your gaming groups and other contacts who you think will be interested in getting in touch. Similarly, if you'd rather be left off this mailing list, let me know and I'll take care of it.

Cheers,
Al

Following this, it's been suggested that, as some people have played Parts I and II at Winterfest this past weekend, some people might like the opportunity to play Part III. Therefore, please let me know if you would like to play First Steps, Part III - A Vision of Betrayal on the 27th and we'll run it in parallel if we get at least three of you registered.

Cheers,
Al

Okay looking for some verification i am building a Polearm Master fighter/Hellknight, 5 levels of fighter then down the Hellknight path, its a PFS character so i am a little worried about Class features stacking and such.

Core question in the case of POle fighting/Steadfast Pike/Polearm Training, the bonus/penalty increase/reduces every four levels beyond the level you gain the feature so if I move to Hellknight at Character Level 6 i don't get the reduction in the penalty of pole fighting.

Any help greatly appreciated and links to othe posts or quotes from the rulebooks even more greatly appreciated

I have a Combat Expertise PFS fighter at the moment. Here are his stats (he's currently level 2).

STR 18
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 13
WIS 12
CHA 9

Thanks Jiggy, you solved my stat spread issue this will work excellently, without as Sunset put it gimping myself, half the reason i was thinking a wisdom of seven to beginning with was to give my character some depth, be intelligent but not wise, but the array above works better, thanks guys, any thoughts on if i ditch intimidating presence what to replace it with or other feast you might suggest

The Exchange

Okay i have been trying to create this character for a when i get it finished, i find something wrong; then i take it apart and start from scratch and i am driving my self nuts, so i will put it out here and I am looking for some input it stands like this at the moment

Human not sure male or female yet

Str: 18 Int: 14
Dex: 14 Wis: 7
Con: 12 Cha: 12

the plan is for Fighter 5 then heading down the Hellknight PrC till the 12 cap with the extra points for the stats to be sunk into wisdom

Traits
Defender of the Society
Sargavan Guard

The plan is for him to wear the Hellknight plate and i wanted to get a leg up on the Ac and ACP problem early, i am also planning to make him a order of the godclaw and take the pentatamic faith discpline and go for the travel domain to get the extra 10ft movement

Feats
H. Combat Expertise
1. Improved Trip
F1.Exotic Weapon: Fauchard
F2.Fury's Fall
3. Power Attack
F4. Intimidating presence
5. Weapon Focus: Fauchard
7. Greater Trip
9.Tripping Strike
11. Unsure

The Fauchard is to be the major weapon, i did consider Heirloom Weapon and Ancestral Weapon to get the use of it but the traits i selected above looked too good, the intent is also to maximise the trip chances, damage output and Intimidate aspect

any help ideas suggested and such greatly appreciated

That is a fantastic suggestion. This is what I went with though. Nice item, nice price.

okay i have been looking through the boards for the last few hours to get a couple of questions answered about wizards and arcane bonded weapons and i need some clarifiactions, i am aware that this may be answered elsewhere but i am at the end of my rope the questions are as follows;

1. If a wizard takes a arcane bonded weapon that is not on his class or racial weapon profiecny lists he is profiecent in its use?

2. As suggested above, can I PFS legally take either item as my arcane bonded item?

3. I know that Joshua ruled that a wizard can enchant their arcane bonded item without the normal play required feats as long as they pay for the cost; has this been erratted or changed?

any assistance and clarification greatly appreciated

The Exchange 5/5

above question,
A quick clarification on the situation that leads to this question; a friend of mine agreed to run some PFS for a local store, problem is he doesn't have as much time to do this than he had when he offered. So i asked him if he would like me to run the occasional session at the store for him, he said i couldn't because i did not own any of the scenarios and he had generated the event so i couldn't report it; so i would have to buy the scenarios and create a new event/
I have been looking through the msgboard and the pfs guide and i cant find anything to say his position is valid, so can i please get some clarification, can i borrow the scenarios from him, run them myself and report them myself or do i need to buy them myself and create the new event?

Many thanks

The Exchange 5/5

Thanks for that i thought so but was a little unclear

The Exchange 5/5

My new Pfs character is an elf raised by gnomes so has the adopted trait, and has the above trait but a quick question; the bonus language that the traits allows needs to be taken from the racial bonus language list or can it be any of the allowed regional languages or other monster/racial languages,i did find the joshua answer that you can choose regional languages, but there is nothing about this trait many thanks in advance for the help

No Bob doesn't know Identify twice. In fact you can't change out a spell you get for free on account of your blood line at all. Bob the Sorcerer gains no free spell at 3rd level.

** spoiler omitted **

thanks to morgen for the non-specific answer, can anyone point to errata, a section of a rulebook or a designer post to clarify can a spell which could be duplicated by a bloodline spell/bonus spell, be retrained or do you lose the bonus spell completely if you already know the spell

On a side note directed to morgen, apolgies if the above sounds snarky, but i was looking for an eratted rulebook answer, i am also aware of people being dumb and silly in spell selection but if the bonus spell is one of the better spells, such as those you listed do you wait till lvl3 to learn it?

The Exchange

5 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

Okay checked everywhere for a bugging little question, can not find a proper answer, my question is as follows, hyperthically, is this Bob has an Arcane Bloodline socerery and learns identify at Lvl 1, at level three he gets identify as his bonus spell, now i know you can retrain spells at lvl 4 and such, but does Bob know identify twice till he reaches lvl 4 and can swap the lvl1 gained identify, for something new but still have gthe spell on his spell list from the bloodline bonus. Okay i think thats clear, i am aware that this could be circumvented by house rule, but this connects to a PFS sorcerer i am trying to put together, so if someone knows a pfs answer or if Josh or another knowledgeable one can point me to a pfs complaint answer or such

thanks and apolgies for any unclearedness, not much sleep and many hours already awake are ruling my brain at the moment

Hi Josh, loving the facebook updates but a quick question; ina recent pfs module my summoners eidolon was bitten and gained a disease, i have asked elsewhere and their are different answers to what the optiosn are in removing the diesese via restoration/ remove diesease or as a summoned creature the disease would disappear after it goes and is retunred, i ahve looked thrugh the summoner write-up from the final playtest document and have looked through the pfs document for answers and having found none, i bow to your omnipotent powers and abilities

The Exchange

Thanks to all, does anyone know if a official paizo edict on the disease/ ability loss question has been generated and if so can you post the link

The Exchange 5/5

Hi guys, in the theme of summoner questions, I have just ran my summoner for the first time, in a pfs module, it went fairly well, but a couple of questions came up, any assitance provided greatly appreciated both by myself and my dm,

1. During combat my eidolon got bitten and gained a disease by my vastly inadequate rolls, now would this affect my eidolon, is it treated like it happended to a full fledged pc, so heal checks and possible remove disease spell required or would it disappear if sent back to its home plan and returned.

2. summoners with their summon monster ability get to add celestial or fiendish template to the creatures summoned, i am not sure what this actually means;

any help greatly aprecciated

2. Before Combat in regards to initaive would my eidolon act on my turn, like a summoned creature or animal companion or would it fill a seperate slot on the iniative order

3. the summon creature spell ability if i use my standard action in turn one to cast it, does it appear in this round or at the begggining of my turn on the next round;

I ran this in pfs so if any pathfinder book references to the answers exist, pls supply them, thanks

The Exchange

Great job man, but any love for the apg spellcasting classes???

The Exchange

thanks once again to all and i was unsure if warrior of old counted as combat ot racial trait, had a nice long talk with the dm of the pfs moduloe this will run through and he checked and confirmed it was fine

The Exchange

okay my brain is going to throttle me, but it seems to think this combination of traits could be a problem, armor expert and warrior of old, the summoner is going to be used for a pfs game, help needed

2. Armour grants an armour bonus. Mage Armour grants an armour bonus. You take the best of the two.

3. Grease and Protection From Evil are handy and last well into the late levels. Enlarge Person can be fun since you can stick it on your eidolon.

4. An eidolon can speak any languages known by the summoner.

Thanks for that, just to clarify the eidolon can speak verbally, if so sweet

The Exchange

Okay, guys, girls and everything in between, I have read pretty much every relevant post and text but I need some questions answered; if anyone can help thanks in advance
1. If an Eidolon has two primary attacks, can it use both in a single round and if so under what circumstance can it?
2. Summoners can wear light armor, if I cast mage armor on myself would the resulting AC bonus's stack (I think not but the brain is in neutral at the moment) or how should it work if I cast it on my eidolon?
3. I am having difficulties picking his known spell list for the level 1 slots any suggestions or personal favourites??
4. I believe that the summoner can communicate with the eidolon through the life link telepathically, but I read it speaks as well, can an eidolon verbally speak or is all the telepathic communications in the spoken language chosen, and if the summoner knows more than one language can he choose?

As a side point I may be using this character in a pfs setting, if this changes any of the answers, please enlighten me

No problems Kor, need to make a small query/request, is ot possible to add chronicle specific magic items, just realised i got a special magic item and have difficult added the notes about its abilities into the sheet

The Exchange

Thanks Phil for the clarification

Kor, makes sense i worked around it with an entry on the bonus tab till a change occurs, if it occurs

The Exchange

Thanks for the quick reply;
another thing i noticed the rogue trapfinding ability applies to disable device checks as well as perception to find them, the sheet does not reflect this, as well masterwork theives tools dont generate a skill note, or a change to the skill calculations; on a side note the encumberance calculations on 0.49 are generating a 119 lbs on the page 1 but a 45 lbs on the items tab,with all of the items i am supposed to have;
i will try all of these on the newer version to see if the tweaks mentioned above have fixed these

okay version 0.51, still having a problem with the trapfinding and theives tool, on the encumberance side it looks like it added up everything added including the stuff on my horse, it would help if items could be marked as on the mount or in storage as well as equiped

As Lorekeeper mentioned in his post above, trait bonuses do not stack.

For the Ring of Jumping, you need to select "left" or "right" in the Worn column, otherwise it assumes that its just in your general inventory. Once selected, the skill note will appear.

sorry about the trait question; my gm has told me he allowed under a house rule; for the ring of jumping i have tried it worn on both hands and i cant seem to find the note anywhere on the sheet, no mention under the skill notes on page 1 or on any other page, i have tried other rings that affect skills they all seem to work except for jumping and improved jumping
