"Why does everything out here seem to think I'm the snack? That HURTS."

I wish it had been that simple.

Office picnic Wednesday. Went shopping on Monday, started making both guacamole and deviled eggs. The avocados I bought were rock-hard green . . .. So, after work Tuesday, I went shopping again, then I made the guacamole before going to my Boy Scout Troop meeting, followed up with making the deviled eggs. I went to bed after midnight and never touched my computer on Tuesday. My alarm went off at 5 AM, and the day went well enough, the picnic was a roaring success. I got home and collapsed on the bed while I was supposedly changing out of my work clothes. Next thing I knew, it was time to get up this morning.

Not how I planned the week to go.

"You stupid, scaly, excuse for doorstop! Just die and don't bite me again!"

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

"So, what kind of steak do you want for dinner, tonight, Rudrik?"

Terry tries to keep the mood light despite the fact the group is in a lethal combat . . ..

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Confirm?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Terry tries to press his attack, shifting around the beast, working to build a flank.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

The young farmer also moves in, looking for a flanking position if he can reach one before striking out with his sickle.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 +2 if flanking achieved.
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Somehow, I'm thinking anything which looks inviting has something in it which wants to eat us.

Pulling both shied and weapon into ready positions, Terry adjusts to attack the snake at his first opportunity. Two moves required to ready both, so I assume he can't attack till next round.

Sure, if Raddosric's gonna poke around . . ..

Terry follows the example, and pokes at the rubble, wondering if there's really a chance anything of value's been left behind at this point.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

The young human just looks confused at Rudrik's praise.

I saw it, he didn't it.

8 of 12 HP, I think. The burst kept it from getting worse, so don't beat yourself up over that!

"That sucked. So, forward?"

Another Scout camping trip. This time with the troop, like is supposed to be normal. Going back to the site with no cell coverage.

My allergies are hitting me hard enough I want to just crawl into a ball and do nothing. All the boys can't get there unless I drive.

More scouting. Helping run a training course that will keep me occupied through late Sunday. I am in cell range and might get a few minutes like this every now and again.

Trying to thin the mass of flying rodents, Terry continues to swing the sickle.

Sickle: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Well, that's not going to improve our average.

Sickle: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Terry instinctively lashes out at the swarm of bats as they fill the area around him.

Time for another BSA Campout at the facility with no cell signals. I head to work in the morning and then go meet the troop and head to camp. I'll be back on Sunday.

"Okay, so what's over there, then?" as he travels with the group.

"I had an old man tell me once to always choose left. It works more often than you might think."

"From what we've seen so far, I'm not expecting any bandits. Too many things about trying to eat people."

Terry moves over to go where Rudrik seems to want to go.

"Doesn't seem to be taking the bait. Do we need to spread BBQ sauce over Rudrik?"

Terry readies himself for combat, and moves over towards Aotor, and away from the door.

"I'm not seeing anything over here right now, so, I guess we should set up to deal with whatever that thing might be before looking around further."

Girding himself for further combat, just in case, Terry moves into the courtyard as well, moving over towards the more secure door, the one with the hole in it.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

"I think you're right. Let's try heading in here. I don't want to find the next set of giant frogs over there." pointing towards the far corner of the building.

Currently at 9 of 12. I've already consumed 2 healing spells, though, so I'm good to wait.

Ready to continue?

Last week was a shooting sports event for the local BSA council.

This week is a district camp-o-ree and I'm off to camp with the troop. See everybody on Sunday!

Headed to a Boy Scout Shooting Sports campout to run the archery range. In the Hill Country and a valley, so there is no cell service after I get there.

Will be back Sunday night.

Wiping fluids from, well, every part of his hair, clothing, armor, and gear seems to leave a bad taste in Terry's mouth. "Let's not do THAT again, okay?" He shudders.

The young human continues trying to cut his way out of the giant frog.

Yeah, and I saw that swallow whole coming too . . ..

Cramped inside the frog, Terry still tries to cut his way out with his sickle.

attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Remind me again? Aren't Paladins supposed to be combatants?

Well, a sickle is a light weapon, so Terry can use it at no penalty while grappled . . .. Not in the thought process when I picked his weapon (preferred weapon of his god), but, be thankful for small favors, right?

Giving only a second to the thought of how he can free himself for the frog's mouth, Terry decides to try cutting the corner of the mouth open with his sickle.

Sickle: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Pointless Damage roll: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

He finds the position too odd to hook the blade like he had planned.

Wait. What are the odds I would get the same two numbers on the dice I did in the previous round?

Well, that's past full health! Sadly, it will probably be important . . ..

Had to get off work, get home, be personable . . .. Thus, the delay.

"Giant . . . FROGS?" Terry moves up to the big one, shield and sickle both previously ready, then takes a swing at the big frog.

Sickle Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Meaningless damage roll, I think: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

"It isn't normal to check the perimeter of a building with your hand on the building, is it? Don't you normally keep some distance? Like I said, I'll stay with the group. This just doesn't seem right."

NOW I see it!

Terry looks at how close they are to the structure, and how non-existent any cover they have from observation. "If they are in there and haven't seen us yet, circling this close around the building should draw their attention. I'll go with the group, but are we sure?"

He hesitates to move either away from the group or the perceived way in.

Just followed the link to Roll20, logged into "Greyhawk Classics" with a ToEE graphic hosted by John G, but all I see is a black square? Bah. Going to work now, anyway.

Group includes nick e., Isinghar T., Dan H., Eric K., Jesse H., Jeff H., and Misroi.

Getting his shield off his back and onto his arm, and then a sickle into his hand, Terry shrugs. "Front doors aren't always the front door. Used the neighbors' back door all the time. Don't know how this will be, or even IF it will be. But you are right, we should be ready."

After a little more socializing, and getting to actually learn everyone else's names, "It has been a productive day and a good evening, but for now, I should get a good night's sleep before our little walk tomorrow."

Terry laughs. "Well, while YOU may not care about the dark, I'm afraid I do. I tend to do things like walk into roots, step in holes, and possibly even walk into low-hanging branches in the dark I'm not real keen on the idea of traveling down an overgrown trial in the dark."

"Thank you, Calmert. I believe we have enough to speak with our fellows. It sounds like something we should be doing, sure enough!"

And I believe we rejoin the others at this point, yes?

"Fair enough. Even I should be able to find that!" He looks to his dwurven companion. "Do you have enough to discuss with your partners, or did you want to ask him about the bounty Maggie mentioned?"

"Hunh. Okay. Well, can you give us instructions on how to reach this moathouse? The less time we spend wandering around trying to find it the less likely we are to let anybody who may live there find out about us before we find them."

Looking about at the decorations and sayings, Terry frowns a little but tries to maintain a positive outlook.

"Yes, Calmert. I'm Terry. We were just at the tavern, and a young lass said that your church was looking for some help solving a threat to the good people of Hommlet. We thought it was a good idea to come and try to find out more. What can you tell us about this task?"

"Well met! I am Terry. Several recent arrivals were in the tavern when Maggie told me that your temple had a request for some people to handle a problem? We were asked to see what more information was available so the group could decide whether or not to take the risk. I'm hoping you can help us."

"Well, they provided knockers. These guys tend to be pretty close-minded. We probably ought to knock." Terry reaches up and uses the knocker on the left.

"Sure. Well, if somebody can either give me directions or show me the way?" He looks hopefully towards Maggie. "Maggie also said the Cuthberites were offering a reward, since you are looking for bounties."

"I hope there are more details than there is a 'den of evil' to be stopped. The people of Hommlet deserve to have such a threat removed from their lives, of course, but fighting blindly into somebody else's stronghold makes for a really short life." He drops his head a little and looks a bit sheepish. "Sorry, I'm Terry. Wandered over here from Dianrift. The Cuthbert clergy in the area can probably provide more details about their task than you have about yours for now." He listens to the further discussion, responding to Isinghhar's question. "I only know one person in town right now, and that's Maggie over there. She's far more likely to know the locals than I am."

Terry raises an eyebrow. "Really? Well Maggie here was talking to me about something the local clergy seem to think is important for the community. Maybe we can help each other out? As long as your task is reasonable, of course." He looks at Maggie again. "Many hands make light work, right?"

Maggie:
"St. Cuthbert?" He looks concerned. "Cudgels or Chapeaus? Or do you know the difference? No, has to be Chapeaus. Cudgels would have pressed people into going with them." He nods to himself before looking back to Maggie. "Chapeaus worry about the people, not just their compliance. I don't know why they want this moathouse explored, but their request would surely be for everyone's benefit."

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Terry turns his head towards the dwurves. "I'm sorry. Were you talking about me?"

This whole connecting thing looks to be going sideways right now. Unless you're a dwurf.
