An Exiled Glaive who Exists In Two Places At Once

About Tavene Rheos

Appearance:
Tavene is short, but stocky. She stands around 5'4 and is well muscled. She wears her auburn hair long and often tucked up into a tail or a bun to keep it out of her face and off her shoulders. Her eyes are a tawny brown, and a smile always looks a little awkward on her face unless she's fighting. She tends to wear simple clothing; loose fitting pants that are easy to move in, a fitted tunic. She may or may not be wearing armor during a fight; she's trained in both styles.

Might: 16
Speed: 11
Intellect: 9
Effort is 1.

Fighter: You have a Might Edge of 1, a Speed Edge
of 1, and an Intellect Edge of 0.

Cypher Use: You can bear two cyphers at a time.

Practiced in Armor: Glaives can wear armor for long periods of time without tiring and can compensate for slowed reactions from wearing armor. You can wear any kind of armor. You reduce the Might cost per hour for wearing armor and the Speed Pool reduction for
wearing armor by 2. Enabler.

Practiced With All Weapons: You can use any weapon. Enabler.

Skill - Climbing (trained)

Starting Equipment: You start with clothing, two swords, light armor, an explorer’s pack, two cyphers, one oddity, and 5 shins

Fighting Moves:
No need for weapons - When you make an unarmed attack (such as a punch or kick), it counts as a medium weapon instead of a light weapon. Enabler.

Trained without armor - You are trained in Speed defense actions when not wearing armor. Enabler.

Exiled:

Self Reliant - Gain +2 to Might pool

Loner: You gain no benefit when you get help with a task from another character who is trained or specialized in that task.

Skill: You’re trained in all tasks involving sneaking.
Skill: You’re trained in all tasks involving foraging, hunting, and finding safe places to rest or hide.

Inability: Living on your own for as long as you have makes you slow to trust others and awkward in social situations. The difficulty of any task involving social interactions is increased by one step.

Exists In Two Places At Once:

Four Hands Are Better Than Two: When you and your duplicate work together to complete a task, the difficulty of that task is decreased by one step (if cooperation would be helpful).

Tier 1: Duplicate (2 Might points). You cause a duplicate of yourself to appear at any point you can see within short range. The duplicate has no clothing or possessions when it appears. The
duplicate is a level 2 nonplayer character with 6 health. The duplicate obeys your commands and does as you direct it. The duplicate remains until you dismiss it using an action or until it is killed. When the duplicate disappears, it leaves behind anything it was wearing or carrying at the time it disappeared. If the duplicate disappears because it was killed, you take 4 points of damage that ignore Armor, and you lose your next action. Action to initiate.

Background::
Biomechanical Modification
You might be a fighter, but you’re no archaic stereotype— this is the Ninth World, after all. Although you trained and gained your share of practical experience, you have the numenera on your side as well. Some of your knowledge of fighting techniques is implanted in your brain and spine, wired into your nerves and muscles. Your joints have surgically implanted servo motors. Subdermal plating makes you tougher than should be possible. Your muscle tissue is augmented with artificial fibers. Perhaps your genetic code has been rewritten by engineered viruses, or the tissues in your body have been reworked by nanotech, turning you into an efficient battle machine. Or maybe you’ve been altered by strange science—radioactive treatments of bizarre energies, chemical compounds and drugs, or extradimensional enhancements—that makes you stronger, faster, tougher, and more proficient in attack and defense than anyone around you.
Whatever the case, you’re the result of ancient knowledge made manifest in the present, and now you’re shaping the future. Perhaps your modifications are obvious and visible; perhaps they’re not. Regardless, you know that you’re more than merely human.

Advancement: Your body is an ongoing project. In a way, it’s a work of art, although its beauty comes not from its appearance but from what it can do. As you go forward, you should keep an eye out at all times for new parts and systems that can be incorporated into your body, or new doses of drugs and supplements to maintain your abilities. You might need to seek out surgeons, mechanics, or bioenhancement specialists to take you to the next level. Perhaps the Aeon Priests can help. Perhaps the parts you need can be found only in the ruins of the past or the dangerous black market of a faraway city. When your stats improve, it’s because you literally have added something new to your body. When you gain a new ability, it’s the direct result of a tangible change in your own physical being.

How She Got Here:
She was exiled from her village in the Westwood after killing a local government official who tried to extort money from her already fairly poor family. She was only fourteen years old, and was expected to go out on her own and survive. She fell into a sinkhole in the woods, through what seemed to be another reality made entirely of cobwebs, and came out the other side of the woods with an ever present flickering other. It took her a few years to control when the other version of herself appeared. In moments of great stress or emotion, it’ll appear without her will. Occasionally, people can see her reflection is clearly different. She stopped looking in mirrors because of it; reflections never show her current state, only the other. And she hates that.

Zi hired her for protection in Harmuth a few times and took a shine to her and her unique ability. She has taken jobs all over Navarene and a little beyond it, though her familiarity with the world outside of Navarene, Ghan, and Draolis is extremely limited.
