Finding out that the dead are evil cultists puts an end to any wish from TC to bury them.

”Worshipping demons is stupid. Everyone knows they fight and betray each other for power, but they’re going to share it with some humans because they chanted some stuff and put on a special robe? Very dumb.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Perhaps these two knights fell down here as we did and fought the creature, breathing in the toxic spores in the process. They slew the beast, but then expired themselves. That’s sad.”

Sorry all. I seem to have lost the “dot” here awhile ago.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC seems nonplussed by the grim topic as they walk along. ”I met a very nice man on the street just before the demons attacked. He sold meat tubes from a cart that smelled very nice, though I did not try one. He called them sausages. Have you ever had one?”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”I’m looking for my friend. We got separated and I couldn’t find him and I got tired of waiting for him to come home so I left and started looking. His name is Mordithas; he’s an elf. I don’t think he’s down here.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC happily recounts all the dangers they’ve faced so far in a carefree and blasé voice, like they were nothing.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”We’re already doomed, so we might as well help. I’ll move it,” the little leshy declares. TC steps forward, holding his branches out in front of him, and suddenly, a constant stream of fist-sized chunks of rock begin flying out of the debris field.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”I like up. I think up is a very good plan.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

I’ve played with Rorek and he’s good people. I have no objections at all.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Sure. Another recruit is fine with me.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Bye!” TC waves as they head out of the cave and onwards.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC nods and shakes his head. ”We are honourable crusader types, but we didn’t come here to clean out the undercity: we fell down here from above and are trying to get back so we can fight the demons. Do you want to come fight demons too?”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”I am Tart Cranberry, but people call me TC. Say,” realization dawns on him and turns to Tessa, ”People could call you TC, too. That might get confusing.”

TC turns back to the green-eyes dwarf and waits.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

With nothing else to do here, TC will be happy to move along.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Hold still, Tessa,” TC says and lines up another shot.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 13

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 3 + 1 + 2 = 12

”Like this?” TC asks, then proceeds to nail one of them with another rock.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Octopuses aren’t supposed to live in caves, unless they’re sea caves. This isn’t a sea cave, so I don’t think those are octopuses.”

TC gathers power and lifts a rock, ready to fling it if nobody stops him.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10

Well, that was helpful.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC checks each statue to see if they made one of his druid master, but presuming not, is eager to find the next passage onwards.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”We’ve made it this far okay. I’m sure we’ll be fine. These caves can’t go on forever.”

”Can they?” TC asks a moment later with much less confidence in his voice.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Long passageways sound good. TC is a bit lethargic as the group moves out, and his leaves seem a little paler than the day before.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC, anxiously watching Regnis, is relieved when the strange not dead man opens his eyes. ”We beat the bone priest and rested in his shrine. Are you ready to continue?”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Yes, resting in the chapel.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”I’ll bring in the others,” TC says.

He gathers up the old bones of the undead, carries them out, tosses them aside as he says, ”No more monsters in here. We’re setting up camp.”

Realizing he’s still holding the undead’s robe, he holds it out and says, ”Anybody need a new robe? Well, not so new.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC rushed over to their fallen comrade, and is relieved to see him still breathing. ”Tessa, can you make the glowy circle of healing light come again?”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 3 + 1 = 9

TC finds a small stone tablet still bearing writing in glory to Torag, lying beneath a stone bench. He picks it up and hurls it with his mind, striking true and hard.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7

TC spots a bit of rubble in one corner and has it whip through the air at the creature. It seems that he’s missing the sun too much and is feeling drained.

2 twos and a three. Seems like it’s safer to be TC’s enemy than his friend.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

If you have notifications on, that’s the big thing. We don’t actually chat there much, we just use it to say, “Combat post up. Tessi’s turn next”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

We also have a Discord group, if you use that: https://discord.gg/vjjM4eQy

We use it mainly to say that we’ve posted a combat post and whose turn is next.

We are using them.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8

TC flings some more random debris at the creature, but again misses badly.

"Come get me, you very stupid dead person thing," he calls out, then backs up to draw the creature away from Regnis.

Slayer/Telekineticist here.
Since we just started, are we going to do a character swap (the newly chosen character was the one there all along, which avoids having to explain why a loyal, dedicated party member suddenly decided that fighting demons wasn’t her thing after all), or a swap topside? Not sure how likely it would be to find a new PC down in the caves.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

A handful of dust rises up and slams into the undead creature.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Being dust, it does absolutely nothing.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC follows close behind.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Once his waterskin is empty, TC fills it up with holy water from the fountain bowl.

”Shall we look inside? There may be supplies which would be of use to us.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”I have four water skins. I could drink one and we could put the holy water in one. You were so clever to think of that.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC steps forward between the two townspeople.

”Please Horgus, Anevia. Let us not quarrel. Of course we won’t leave anybody behind and of course we will all reach safety. The fact that we found that camp and this old shrine mean that we didn’t really fall that far and that there must be access to the surface. Please let’s not let old grievances do the demons’ work for them.”

Diplomacy Aid Another: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Hopefully, somebody who can actually speak soothingly can take up the gauntlet and take the lead here.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC reaches out towards the doors, but doesn’t have enough mental dexterity yet to operate the doors from a distance.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC takes a step back from the fly and lets another rock fly, smacking the fly in the head.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 1 + 3 + 2 = 11

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Tart delays until after Regnis, then lets fly with his rock.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 3 + 2 = 7

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC points at the fly and motions everyone to be quiet as they move forwards.

Stealth: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 1 = 29

If they can all get within ranged weapon range, they can hit it simultaneously before it even notices them.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Danger?” TC asks, presuming Regnis reports the findings, ”It could be a demon that fell down from above. We three should investigate, while you three remain here. If we die horribly in there, you should take the other path and try to get to the surface that way.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Could a whole building have fallen down here? We should have a closer look.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC nods. ”You are correct, Anevia. While it is likely my appointment with Mistress Hermea the herbalist has likely been cancelled due to the demon invasion, and as such I have no immediate personal engagements, we shouldn’t linger down here anymore than we have to.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC heads to the far exit of this area, looking ahead to the next.

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

Swords and shields don’t interest TC at all, so he keeps an eye out for trouble while the others distribute the equipment.

”Regnis, you are suggesting we decapitate these dead people in case they were infected with undeadness? Is that really likely, given how quickly everything happened up there?”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC helps by carefully floating rubble off the bodies. The little guy doesn’t seem to be getting tired, despite the mental effort.

”It seems that the demons enjoy their pollination activities, too. But we’ll make them pay for it, too, won’t we?”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”There are more bodies from above. It looks like the demons were at them first. It’s not pretty.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Dogs are good, but I am well, Aerianna. So far, these caves have not been too dangerous. Hopefully we will be out of them soon. It appears that the tunnel branches left and right. That tunnel heads towards where that smaller tunnel earlier would lead, so I suggest we head to the left and keep climbing up.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

TC studies the centipede, then floats a piece of rubble then flings it at the creature.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 3 + 1 = 8

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

”Agreed, Regnis. This is a very good sign. It means there is surface access to these caves, or at least that there once was, so could be again.”

HP: 14/14; NL: 0; AC 17 (T13, FF15); CMD 12; F/R/W: +5/+4/+4; Init: +4; Perc: +7;

perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

TC will carefully approach the equipment, to see if anything can be salvaged.
