HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss makes sure of his footing and swings the short sword at another wererat.

ATTACK 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
DAMAGE 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Ah, Bach. MASH reference)

Alviss, once he gets his footing on the rafters, draws his short sword and lashes out at the nearest wererat.

Attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Is it Alviss' turn, or does WR3 go first?

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss mutters, "More rat beasts." and sighs.

Moving to avoid being a standing target, he sheathes his axe.

"Send me up there if ye can"

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss preparess to move past Lummell and into the room as he did in the one below, axe in hand.

[ooc[gambling they're just rats, as I'll lose a round if I have to switch to the short sword[/ooc]

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss looks around at the splattered fur and flesh.

At least I didn't need silver for these!

He watches Eles disappear out the window and turns to cleaning the gore off of his axe.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss continues to hew at the gaggle of rats around him.

Surprise Round The stench rolls over Alviss as the door is opened. Bellowing, he launches an attack with his axe at the cluster of rats.

Lay On Hands
2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

ALviss feels the power of Torag flowing through his arm and hand, a warmth briefly suffusing him. He steps back and opens his eyes.

He is silent for a moment as he thanks his god for answering the call.

"That should help, lass."

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

"Here lass, let Torag ease yer pain."

Alviss moves over beside Eles, putting a hand on her arm, silently calling on his deity.

Lay on Hands. I think Alviss used it twice so far: once on the girl wererat and once on Lummell. He has 5 uses per day.

Finsished, he opens his eyes and steps back, looking at the other party members.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss looks around, wrinkling his nose as he retrieves the short sword, then the axe.

"We've stumbled onto something here, that's certain."

He looks up towards the ceiling.

"I'll not be climbin' up those ropes. What do ye...

He breaks off and seems to realize he's forgotten something and looks over his comrades.

Anybody need healin?"

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

No office internet connection for a day and a half. Man, that makes my work day filled with...work. Moving along is fine with me

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss again smashes at his foe WR3 - Smite Evil with his warhammer.

1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 9 + 2 = 20
1d6 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 4 = 9

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Was incommunicado but back for a minute. Work will be smacking me around for a few more days. Yes, attack is +5 BAB + 3 STR =1 MW + 2 CHA/Smite.

I'll skip the grapple and stick with my post.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

[/ooc]For the love of....I feel like I'm in a Laurel and Hardy movie[/ooc]

Alviss, stunned to find himself trying to stay standing in a puddle of grease, flails about, the axe flying out of his hand.

"What in blazes?"

Setting his feet as he withstands the vermin assault, he firmly grasps his warhammer and attacks. (WR3: Smite Evil)

Attack 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 2 = 21
Damage 1d6 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 4 = 12

I'll talk with ye, lizardlin, later

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss unslings his axe from his side and steps forward through the doorway, turning sideways to face the rat on his right, leaving his back exposed to the other one.

Calling upon Torag to aid him, he makes a vicious slash at the one holding his sword.

Smite Evil

Attack on WR3 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 = 17
Damage 1d8 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 4 = 14

Alviss' axe slices into the beast in front of him with a sickening crunch.

"I'll have me sword back, beastie!"

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss sees the rat in front of him fall to the ground, tripped up by Lummel's polearm. He slices downward with the sword.

Attack
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Damage
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Maybe Alviss should just go back to the Ninth Batallion headquarters and learn to forge kitchen utensils. No, I'd probably roll a fail and his beard would catch on fire....

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

That would be an unarmed AoO, I take it?

If so, Alviss isn't taking the AoO. He'll draw his axe when his turn comes up in the round

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

5' step to the right to switch squares with Eles, than an attack on E3

Alviss moves over in front of Eles, who moves slightly back and to her left, leaving Alviss facing an enraged wererat.

"Ye look hungry, vermin! Have some steel!"

He jabs the short sword forward. Cleave is all but useless here, unfortunately

Attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

And my rolls continue to amaze...

Alviss, who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn let a lone a rat standing on it's hind legs directly in front of him, strikes ineffectually at the beast.

Bah!

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss' turn? If so, can he take a 5' step into E3? Which means basically shouldering Eles aside.

Or, failing that, a full move action (representing aggressively pushing past her), provoking an AoO but still claiming the square.

The plan is to replace Eles in the middle of the fighting

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Oh. Had to turn the brightness up on my monitor to see the map better.

If cover is -4, my attack would have been a 13.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss races up the stairs towards the sounds of combat and chaos, short sword still in his hand.

Where did Turvin end up in all this?

Arrives at F2

Roaring, "Ye blasted vermin!" He slashes at the rat in front of him. (on E2)

Attack 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

He feels the light blade strike into the beast's hide.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss' head whips up to look at the window at the sounds of combat.

[i]What?

He barks at the two guards, "Stay here and watch the door. Have yer silver weapons ready if somethin comes out of it!"

The silver sword still in hand (he doesn't have a scabbard for it), he runs inside the tower, headed towards the sounds.

Please let me know when Alviss reaches the others on the stairs and I'll post again then.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

And we'll see how this looks.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

He walked outside after Eles went in. He felt they were treating the old guy poorly (paladin principles) and didn't want to be a part of it.

I wasn't posting for him because it was Bricker and Lummel sorting things out inside and Alviss was outside.

Staying in character (and not metagaming), I'll keep him outside, looking around and wondering what this whole thing is about. Though, as I mentioned, he would respond if he hears excitement from inside. I'll roll Perception for general sounds of combat, rather than someone calling his name.

Perception
1d20 ⇒ 6

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Er....Unless the GM moved him back inside, Alviss is still outside and doesn't know there's an attack going on unless he hears some yelling through the open front door.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Puzzled that there are no signs of rat activity in the sewer grate, Alviss looks at the body in front of the tower.

Were they guardin' this place? Or were they waitin' for us? Because they knew we'd be comin' here if somebody told us there was a reason to.

Tries to put his prodigious (for a dwarf) wisdom to work

Looks around the area as his mind churns.

I won't bother with my pathetic roll for a Perception check

Muttering almost inaudibly, "Father Torag, what is goin' on in this demon infested place?"

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss sees Eles land near the tower.

"See anythin, lass?"

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss is not pleased with developments at the tower.

We've broken into his home. Knocked im senseless, made im bleed for us and accused im of bein a wererat. On the word of a rat girl.

"Sir, I apologize for me....companions' quickness to jump to conclusions."

He walks back outside, looking for the aforementioned sewer grate. If he finds it, he looks for signs of recent use.

Perception
1d20 ⇒ 4

I'm amazed Alviss manages to get out of bed in the morning with these rolls..

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss enters behind Lummel, taking in the situation, sword still in hand. Expecting the guards to call if there is further trouble outside, he looks at the four ropes going up into the ceiling, puzzled.

By Torag's beard, what are these for?

To Bricker"Did ye two search the whole tower?"

And then to Ziz "Lad, get me rope. We might need it again."

I assume it's still tied at the window

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss who I guess had stopped at the front door and looked back to see what Lummel was doing, rather than going inside walks back over to Lummel as the guardsmen show up.

"Ye know that the wee ones are inside the tower? I have na seen Bricker since he went in. The magic missiles were from the other one."

Looks around for Eles.

"We should go in and see if they need help."

He's still checking out the short sword, shifting it and checking the balance. This is no axe, that's for sure.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

That's fine. I'm about to head home from work sick and may not post the rest of the day, so I wanted to get something in for him.

Man, even the GM rolls for me are bad! :-)

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

"Let's get back to the tower and see what the wee ones are up to, eh?"

He returns to the tower after making sure that the boy is all right and inspects the body of the wererat killed by Elesandira.

Knowing that Lummel will arrange for its disposition,he walks into the open doorway of the tower, sword in hand. He looks about, not calling out yet.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss accepts the silver sword from Lummel, securing the axe on his back. He balances the sword and shakes his head. Rat poker...

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Actually, the attack with the axe (using power attack) and the attack with the sword are the same: 1d20+8.

The power attack will have a greater damage roll, though the wererat will have it's DR. So, here's the attack, with either weapon:

Attack
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

To Lummel again if he didn't already take off in pursuit.

"Have another a those shiny swords?"

I won't have to power attack if he gives me one: will use it if not. Attack rolls to follow the sword thing

Perception check 1d20 ⇒ 16
Perception check 1d20 ⇒ 2
Perception check 1d20 ⇒ 1

Look at those rolls!

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

AoO
Power Attack 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 2 = 21

Damage 1d8 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 4 = 14

Alviss swings at the giant rat as it turns to run.

He sees the stream of magic missiles flying down from the window and looks up.

"Are ye all right in there?"

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Oops. Didn't have him flanked this time. My attack roll was 14, not 16.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Round Four

Alivss sees Eles exchange a furious flurry of blows with the smaller beast, leaving it a heaving mass on the ground.

He yells to Lummel, "Would ye have another a those swords, lad?"

Takes 5' step to I5 to face the big wererat.

"If we let ye live, I may ride ye like a horse, beastie."

Power Attack

1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 16

Damage 1d8 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 4 = 14

Alviss swings his his axe mightily once again, hoping to at least distract the wererat so that Eles can strike again with her silvered sword.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Where did everybody go?

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss senses Eles move behind him and takes a powerful swing at the rat in front of him.

Power Attack
1d20 + 10 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 10 - 2 + 2 = 13

Damage 1d8 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 4 = 14

It feels as if the axe bounces off of the beast's hide. By Torag's hammer!

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

So much for flanking 5' at a time...

Alviss will go after Eles attacks or goes for the sword.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss, focused on the wererat in front of him and not looking for a sword to come flying, takes another 5' step, this time to H4.

He swings his axe again, yelling out "Lass, quit movin'!"

Power Attack!
1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 10 - 2 = 17
Damage 1d8 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 4 = 13

He feels the solid impact of the axe but no longer assumes his blows, unaided by Torag, hurt the beast.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Waiting for wererats to attack, then Alviss will go again.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Oh, I just thought that was the round header. Alviss would have moved to H3 with his 5' move.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

H6? I missed the new map.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

I just meant that had Alviss stepped inside instead of vacillating on the doorstep, he would have just closed the door on the rats. Though Lummel might not have enjoyed that...

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss sidesteps as Eles swings at the rat

Taking a 5' move towards a flanking position. Please let me know how close I am to getting to a flank

Seeing Eles' hit not seem to faze the beast, Alviss roars and swings his axe.

Power Attack: -2/+4

Attack 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 2 = 21
Damage 1d8 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 4 = 9

Look at that damage. Really, my rolls are going this poorly in all three of my games. Wow.

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Yeah, he missed you in Attack Roll from the second-to-last GM post. Probably figured it was easier to hit the winged woman than the short dwarf!

HP50/50: AC 24/11/23: F+8/R+4/W+8: Init +1/Perception +2 unusual stonework

Alviss turns to face the wererat who had attacked Eles, axe starting to swing.

"Blasted beasts!"

Just waiting for my turn after Eles goes.

Being lawful good, Alviss was hesitant to enter into what looked like someone's abode. Especially on the word of a violent wererat. Thus, the axiom "He who hesitates is lost" is reinforced
