Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak strikes at the nearest ant, but can't seem to connect today.
Bastard sword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Dwarf Cleric 2
Seeing the reinforcements at the last second, Surak switches to a defensive stance, which seems to ruin any chance of him hitting the creature.
Move to flank Ant on Tararr, fighting defensively
Bastard sword: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 - 4 = 5, damage 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
AC: 21 HP: 22/22
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak takes aim at the second ant, and looses a bolt.
Light crossbow: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 = 9, damage 1d8 ⇒ 1
He then drops the crossbow, and moves closer to the action, drawing his sword and shield.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak readies his crossbow, and ensures his sword and shield are ready to draw. He proceeds slowly and as quietly as he can in the right direction once Tararr is ready to accompany him and the Elves are ready to follow.
Stealth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Dwarf Cleric 2
"It sounds like a traveller is being attacked, either by bandits or animals. He's shouting about something on his pack. Shall we investigate?"
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak studies the trail, asking for guidance.
Guidance
Survival: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 = 24
Dwarf Cleric 2
CLW(Tararr): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Channel X2: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Dwarf Cleric 2
How is everyone's HP? Before we go to bed I do still have some more healing I can burn.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Sorry guys, bad storm here had me without power for a few days. Getting caught up.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak moves to Tararr, and calls for Ragathiel's help.
Cure light: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak rushes to Shirish's side to see if she can be helped.
Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
He channels healing energy again. Heal: 1d6 ⇒ 4
HP: 22/22
"How are the rest of you doing?"
Dwarf Cleric 2
Just about anything would work really.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak throws the cold iron javelin at the gnoll, and grabs another.
Javalin: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12 (-4 if she is still engaged in melee)
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Dwarf Cleric 2
Ah, ok, thanks! Sounds good then.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Hadn't seen the map yet. With Shirish on the far side, there's really no way I can heal her with a channel. Instead of backing away to try to position to channel uselessly, can I back away while drawing a javalin, and cast Doom (DC13)?
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak again moves to target all but the gnoll, and channels once again.
Heal: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Dwarf Cleric 2
Deciding to kill three birds with one stone, Surak moves far enough away from the giant gnoll to target everyone but her, and channels positive energy to heal.
Move to K2ish
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 5 healing, heals all of us, stabilizes Tararr
HP: 18/22
Dwarf Cleric 2
Oh, hey, I missed a map link again until Chitleen used coordinates. Much easier than just imagining it all...
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak steps behind Tararr, and heals the other Dwarf with a touch.
HP: 13/22
5' Step away from the gnoll
Spontaneous cure light wounds on Tararr, replacing weapons against evil. Healing: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Dwarf Cleric 2
Dwarf Cleric 2
In a flash, Surak picks up the falchion, trying to grab it and step back.
Move action to pick up the weapon.
I believe she gets an AoO if she wants it, but if she takes it unarmed, she will provoke an AoO from anybody next to her. I still have my sword wielded in my other hand, can I AoO if I'm the one provoking originally?
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak sees the monstrous gnoll attacking, and decides to distract it, even if only for a moment. He shouts, "Kill!", while trying to cloud the mind of the giant gnoll. Then he moves to try to get behind Tararr.
Cast Murderous Command, DC 14
Move to get behind Tararr.
Do the smaller gnolls seem to be willing accomplices or reluctant slaves? Sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Dwarf Cleric 2
It sounded like there's still a 4th gnoll slave not in melee yet. If so, I use the crossbow.
Surak fires at the slowest gnoll.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 16, damage 1d8 ⇒ 1
If the slaves were all engaged in melee, I drop the crossbow and charge, drawing a bastard sword instead, which is an additional +3 (+1 accuracy for MW, +2 for charging), and 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 damage.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak mutters a prayer for the sake of his friends, and then tries to bring his crossbow to bear on the incoming gnolls.
Cast Bless, 2 mins of +1 morale bonus to accuracy and save vs. fear.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Perhaps some GMPCing until people check back in?
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak nods, and quietly readies his crossbow, scanning for threats.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
"What's is it Chitleen? Did you see something?"
Dwarf Cleric 2
"I suppose only a few of us can see in the dark, so this is probably a good place to stop. Everyone is certainly quiet today..."
Survival: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Dwarf Cleric 2
"They seem to have been using these goats as their blood supply, so at least it seems they may not be preying on people constantly."
"Indeed, lets show this place our backs."
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak examines the goats to see if they show puncture wounds or other signs that the batfolk were bleeding them for sustenance.
Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Dwarf Cleric 2
Crossbow ready, Surak looks with Chitleen, trying to see if it's safe to explore yet.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Dwarf Cleric 2
"If they do not return by mid-day, we should move on. They may be more scared of us than we are of them."
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak begins his morning rituals, which seem to involve periods of meditation interspersed with various drills with a bastard sword.
Dwarf Cleric 2
"I take no issue with killing those who deserve it. But if we murder haphazardly, we cannot call ourselves heroes. Tararr...you may be rash, but in your heart you are a good person. While your actions get ahead of your intentions sometimes, I know that ultimately you are a good person; we have battled enough evils together in the last few years for me never to doubt that."
Dwarf Cleric 2
Channel to heal the group: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Dwarf Cleric 2
Was anyone still injured before we started our watch? I can burn my remaining channel if necessary or even cast a CLW before I pray for new spells in the morning.
Dwarf Cleric 2
"Ahh...well, hopefully the small bats will not be as much of a threat during the day."
Surak ponders. "Can we automatically consider the bat-men evil who must be stopped? They seemed to trade fairly with us last night for food, and did not attack us in the night. We were attacked by the normal bats they may keep as pets, but only when we invaded their lair when they were not present. Perhaps we should approach them first during the day and try to speak to them and find out their true nature? If we simply attack them with no true reason, we cannot call ourselves a force of good fighting evil."
Dwarf Cleric 2
"The swarms we can't do much about, there are simply too many of them. But the man-bats...I'm sure they bleed just as the were-jackals did. Perhaps we can draw them away from the tower when they return?"
He keeps a careful watch of the sky, and listens for the flying bat-men, crossbow at the ready.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak nods. "It would seem we have taken up with monsters."
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak pauses long enough for Tararr to catch up, and touches his arm before running back towards the campfire.
Spontaneous CLW, replacing murderous command: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Dwarf Cleric 2
What is Tararr's HP status? I believe only Chitleen and Tararr have taken any damage?
Dwarf Cleric 2
Once his companions are again free of the bats, Surak will channel and continue moving towards the fire.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 4 healing
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak channels again when his allies get close enough, then runs towards our campfire. "Come to the camp fire, maybe the light will scare them off?"
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 6 healing
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak waits for his injured allies to get into range, and then channels healing energy before continuing his retreat.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 2 healing
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak continues to back away from the bats, while keeping watch for any bigger threats.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak swats at the bats that come near him, and steps back outside the door. "Foul creatures! Chitleen, do you have any of those firebombs of yours?"
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak stands watch at the door for the time being, alert to any threats from outside.
Dwarf Cleric 2
The cleric also puts on his armor, then loads his crossbow and looks for aerial threats.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak stands, disgusted by the needless alienation. He walks away muttering angrily, half to himself and half praying for guidance. Eventually he sits again, away from the camp, and begins honing his bastard swords, with the look of a man desperate for something to focus his mind.
Dwarf Cleric 2
Surak hands Tararr a piece of goat. "Tararr - you would enjoy life more if you spent less of it looking for an unnecessary fight and more of it eating things like this."
