ok... so how would you have some of the other options interact? Say you are using AC Fort, Ref, and Will as Defenses- do dodge bonuses apply? Or do you keep them separate- in which case things like feats (dodge, improved will, etc) are treated as normal? Are there crits and fumbles? It seems that doubling damage on a fireball would be a bit much- and what about improved crit (can you apply it to spells?)
Ok, so when 4th edition came out I bought and played it. I felt it lacked some things- but was interested in how other things were handled. Due to some dissatisfaction with the way magic works I have started to think again about how saves were presented in 4th. So, I was wondering if anyone has ported over a similar mechanic in 3.5 or in Pathfinder, and what the effects were. Personally I think it would merely be a matter of flipping the mechanic- the defenses would assume a 10 (as in taking 10) and the spells themselves would prompt the roll. If so, how would other aspects be impacted- does a 'touch attack' merely become the attack roll for the caster instead- compared to the defense to determine if it worked or not? What about the case for things like Evasion?
I actually have the old Diablo book... that's where I'll get the base line stuff (converting beasties and using it as my mainstay monster manual instead of the PF). The Advanced template is not really to my liking, in all truth- although it can be handy... seems more appropriate for this kind of augmenting moreso than a regular DND game... but I'm looking for template that fit the setting as well.
I don't want to dip to deeply into house and alternate rules, but one thing I am interested in is template to enhance the monsters as they should become more threatening... Diablo has this throughout the game- the Fallen Ones who as you go through different acts are just altered a bit and renamed. Also you have 'Champion' versions, and such. Anyone have ideas for where to look as far as starting points (for the templates- 3.5 converting them to PF)?
Hey- I have a kind of catch-all PbP game I run in RPOL.net.
I am going to run Burnt Offerings on a PbP site and have one player submitting a Hellknight for play.
I am trying to run Burnt Offerings on RPOL.net.
