Ah, thanks. Do you have any idea where that's spelled out? I've been looking for a week now, but I must've missed it somehow. (I decided the intended progression was maybe 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 - so I was close!) ![]()

If we've tried our own repairs, will that keep us out of the replacement option? All 4 of our group's books have failed, but we've only trialed a repair on his so far. It could depend on where you purchased them from. If you ordered them from Paizo then no, it won't matter - provided you take photos of all of them and email those photos to customer.service@paizo.com first. (I had a couple of flawed copies, so be clear that they were unique I sent a photo of both at once. I think that's a good policy if you have multiple copies). If you bought from them directly and email photos to the above email they will send you a replacement in due course - that could be a few weeks away due to the backlog. If you purchased them from a different retailer, Paizo have asked that you first try to return your copies there. I have heard conflicting accounts - some stores have demanded the defective copies back and others have just demanded you present them as proof. I wouldn't get too carried away with repairs until you were sure which path of restitution was going to apply to you. ![]()
Hi Katina If I have my comics subscription set to ship as soon as possible and an item in my sidecart which is available for sale but has like a "will ship in 16 days" tag - what happens? Does the item-from-a-distributor spawn along with the comics subscription order which then waits for the sidecart item to arrive? Or does the system only add sidecart items into subscription orders if they are actually in the building when the subscription spawning happens? ![]()
Dorrin wrote: Is there a window on the replacement? I bought the limited edition (pre-ordered I believe) off paizo.com. I haven't used the book much at all yet, since I won't be starting a Starfinder game for a few more months at least. If, for example, in December or a month or two later I find it's defective, would I still be eligible for a replacement? Probably but being the limited edition, you run the risk they'll run out of stock. I'd suggest opening and closing it a few times - lying it open flat on a table as the blog picture illustrates. My book had the binding problem and it manifested very early and very obviously (with minimal use). It's worth remembering that the problem is not ubiquitous. Paizo sold thousands and thousands of them and we obviously only see reports of the ones with problems. Additionally, a group of friends are likely to have bought from the same batch (and one suspects some stores are replacing defective copies with second defective copies) Those kinds of reports can give the impression that every copy is going to fall apart. In another thread, they commented that the error rate was higher than usual but not universal. ![]()

I'd send an email to customer.service@paizo.com with photos and an explanation of where you got the book and what their returns policy is. Thankyou both. The problem sorted itself out (I'll provide some details in case this is useful for technical people). I was using Safari on my Ipad but I don't know about any plugins, I don't think I've added anything beyond whatever was there when I bought it. Initially, there were a seemingly random collection of closed/open forums and subforums. I could close and re-open the open ones (like Product Pages, Paizo forum) but the ones that were initially closed remained so (like the Customer Service and Website feedback). I'm afraid I didn't make any notes about which were affected. I worked my way down the left hand column of 'closed' triangles trying each subforum in turn. When I got to the Alpha Playtest forum, suddenly it worked and at that point every single subforum on the site was opened. From there I could close and reopen all of them, so the problem is now sorted. ![]()
ashwynfaust wrote: That is fairly ridiculous. So in Pathfinder land you save 30% on the AP cover price AND you get 15% off, but in Starfinder land you pay full price for the AP AND you have to subscribe to three other subscriptions to get the SAME discount? How does that actually incentivize the subscription? Sounds like I will stop the subscription and stop wasting money. Bear in mind I'm just speculating and I don't have any inside information. I think there's two points to bear in mind: First is that a subscription to the Pathfinder AP amounts to $300 pa worth of stock (undiscounted). A subscription to the Starfinder AP amounts to $137.94 pa. It makes sense that they would offer a far greater incentive to the first than to the second just on a cost basis alone. The second is that the two products aren't analogous from a business perspective. The PFAPs are a well established line with a large volume of sales each month (meaning low print costs and higher margins). It's the product which keeps the lights on and pays the core staff salaries - they really want to incentivise this product to stay in business. The SFAPs are a smaller print run selling into what they expected would be a smaller market. Its an experiment for them and has incurred significant risk. They are happy for people to pick and choose bits and bobs, but they can't afford to incentivise it too heavily, or people may switch out of the PF AP (buying $300 pa for a product with high print runs and low margins) for a SF AP (buying $140 pa for a product yielding poorer margins). We each have to make our own choices, of course (and remember that although the $130 of free SF Scenarios is not valuable to everyone - it is a significant perk to many and is an "extra" compared to the PF offering). It's not surprising though that the product with a proven track record and well established market is more heavily incentivised than a speculative foray like Starfinder. They don't really want people to switch between PFAP and SFAP subscriptions willy nilly, so they can't reasonably offer the identical benefits. ![]()
ashwynfaust wrote: I have been a longtime subscriber for Adventure path. I recently swapped it over to starfinder adventure path and am now no longer receiving any discounts on my purchases. The Starfinder subscription incentive works differently from the Pathfinder AP incentive. The Paizo advantage isn't available to people with just the Starfinder AP subscription. You get it for subscribing to the Pathfinder AP or to all four of:

As a new customer, it seems I cannot expand the customer service and website feedback forums (I can do so with numerous others). This seems odd, since it's quite likely my first few posts could well be Website or CS related. I can open the forum and create a new thread (ie this one), however if anyone replies to it I won't see the little number notifying me of such until I learn about focus (which is not likely to be early in my Paizo-posting career). |
