Hello everyone.

I'm not sure where to post this new thread. If it needs moved that's cool.

I love how Rise of the Runelords is in one big book. Now we have Crimson Throne too.

Is there a "I want this next from Paizo" thread?

If so, I'd love Carrion Crown in one large book.

What does everyone think.

Yes or no?

And why?

Thanks ahead of time.

Just like the title says:

Any Evoker/Gunslinger builds out there. If not, suggestions...?

Thanks ahead of time.

Even with hero lab, you should always check additional resources through paizo. That being said, I also noticed the last update had a glitch or something wrong with it. It will not get rid of errors for the other races that are legal in pfs. As well as languages, it won't allow them either. But nothing stops you from playing or saving the characters on the system. I have been playing an aasimar I had before the purge. And she still shows up as an error. Hopefully they correct the mistake with the next patch.

Thanks everyone. That helps.

Question:

Well, two questions.

I use Hero Lab and many of the details I use give this red text box that says that Paizo has yet to update the Pathfinder Society Allowed Resources List in order for it to be okay to use this or that on my characters.

Is something up with my download? Has it really been over two weeks since that has actually been accomplished, since Paizo has updated this list?

I ask here because I have had minor issues with Hero Lab in the past. Just covering all areas to be sure of what's up...

Thanks ahead of time for any info..

Sorry to hear about your dog, Paris.

I lost my dog back in March. He was twelve. His back legs stopped working and I was left with the same terrible option. I miss him. He was a white German Shepherd dog. If you've even watched that old flick "Beastmaster" or the couple snippets from "The Lost Boys" he looked exactly like the dogs in those movies.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Hi Paris,

I did not know that this was put on by fans only. Wow! Well, I'm equally impressed. The level of detail and professionalism is fantastic!

Thank you all for putting this out there for us on top of all the daily work you do at Paizo. You guys rock!

And congrats to all those picked for this issue. I can't wait to read it and what everyone came up with this time around...

Thanks everyone.

This helps.

Exactly like the thread heading states:

I'm wondering if any PFS scenarios take place in Geb? Also, if anyone knows of any module where the adventure takes place there as well, I'd appreciate knowing its name.

I'm trying to find out about all I can on Geb and Nex. Not much out there...

Thanks ahead of time.

Snip

My vote is for Geb but I know there isn't much info on the area yet. Could be Paizo has something top secret in the works for down the road. I'd love the write a short tale set in Geb, though...

I wanted to say thank you for including my story in Wayfinder #13. I'm still busy reading the issue and loving every word.

Great work by all. Congrats to everyone that was picked.

Back to reading...

I have a Tiefling Sorcerer with the Draconic bloodline, Red Dragon. The Tiefling can shrug off 5 points of fire damage. That and cold and electric. The Aasimar swaps fire for acid resist.

My question is now that my Sorcerer made it to 3rd level and climbing, does the 5 fire resist from the Draconic bloodline picking Red Dragon stack with the 5 resist for being Tiefling? Should I now be at 10 resist?

I don't see it written any place that is doesn't stack. I don't see it written that is does either. It could be I'm looking in the wrong book.

I also use Hero Lab. Maybe they don't add that in for my lazy butt. Dunno.

Thanks ahead of time everyone...

Hi all.

Thinking about making a character for PFS that is the penultimate Undead Hunter/Killer. I've never tried out a class like this before, so here I am on the forums looking for good builds to study.

I was thinking a mix of Warpriest and Inquisitor but I don't know. That combo might not be the best one.

Thanks ahead of time for any advice and examples.

So does the Feat Two Handed Thrower cancel out the rule set forth on thrown weapons in the Core Rules? It's page 141 for those that want to read it for themselves in that book.

Two Handed Thrower is in Ultimate Combat page 123 and the descriptor for the Returning Weapon spell is also in U.C. on page 242.

So...

I read all these and still do not understand why I cannot utilize my idea. I'm not even concerned with adding a touch spell to the weapon. I just want the ability to chuck it for 30+ feet up on top of a building at a sniper, into an open window at a caster or at the evil altar when I step into the room for the final battle.

But anyway, thanks to all of you that offered advice on rules, ideas and deeper levels of your own imaginations pondering my idea. You guys rock! Reading all the comments has sent me into new directions in my research.

Snip

Okay, so I had an idea more from the visual end at first over any rule system. I thought it would look cool or read cool in fiction, so I wanted to try it in a character build and bring it to the table at PFS.

Here's my idea:

A Strength based Magus...say Half Orc or the Tiefling Heritage that gives a bump to the Strength stat (Demon?) and take the Two Handed Thrower Feat. Once I gained the appropriate levels and the spell opened up, I'd take the spell Returning Weapon.

My question is:

Can a build that utilizes both arcane magic and combat cast Returning Weapon on...say...a Great Axe or Maul or Earth Breaker and have it work? Is that possible? Heck, is that allowed? And how far could I sling it? Ten feet? Twenty? Five? Would that depend on my Strength Modifier?

Are you seeing the visual in your imagination now too?

Your Half Orc is in the thick of it. You hit a monster next to you. The d12 comes up 9+5 from your Strength Modifier added in and down goes the baddie. What's this!? That annoying caster is readying a spell from that balcony up there. That can't be good. You cast Returning Weapon on your Great Axe and let fly. A roll of the d12 and it comes up 11+5.

No more spell caster, and *whump whump whump SLAP* your Great Axe comes back and thumps into your hands in time to swing at two new foes that were foolish enough to come at you.

Awesome!!

Thanks ahead of time everyone.

Where are they located?

Is this one of the missing monsters from four whole Bestiary books?

Thanks ahead of time.

And if they're right in front of me and I'm having a brain fart...my bad ahead of time for that reason too.

Have an encounter planned for the party on land? Oops, they just teleported directly past it.

The PFS crew also have limited resources. These resources are already directed towards a common path, creating an enjoyable season , season after season directed towards level 1-11. Keep in mind its taking you 33 scenariso to get there. Thats a lot of sessions. I have no desire at all for them to start making stuff for Seeker level, people know going into PFS right from the get go that its geared towards 1-11 play.

I see. Okay, thanks.

There is always playing home games, I guess. And 33 sessions is a lot of fun gaming for sure.

Snip

Okay, so I am fairly new to PFS. I have two characters. My Rogue is creeping toward 7th level and my Tiefling Magus just hit level 3.

And I'm already looking ahead to playing beyond 11th level.

Does anyone know if Paizo plans on churning out scenarios for Seekers?

I've heard they have Mods for the occasional Con to play but why not make them more common like scenarios for levels 1-5, 3-7, 1-7, 5-9 and the high end of 7-11? I know there are many with level 12s just placed on a shelf. That's weird. Write some stuff for the high end.

If anyone knows the reasons why they have not done this yet, I'd love to hear why. Also, if anyone has some info on PFS scenarios for Seekers in the future, that would be even better. I want to play weekly beyond level 11 with all my characters not just at a Con here or there.

Thanks ahead of time

I was told at one of my sessions I could pick up a Wand of Infernal Healing for my Tiefling Magus for two Prestige Points.

Cool!

But where is this item located? What book is it in so I can have the book at the table if need be to show a DM?

Thanks ahead of time.

Snip

That's a relief.

I just bought Goggles of Minute Seeing for my Rogue as well as Boots of Elven Kind. Both my Rapiers -- Cold Iron and Silver -- are now Masterwork. I also have a chronicle sheet that has a Cloak of Elven Kind listed that I just got last night. I want that too!

Then I looked at a few NPCs out of the NPC Codex today and saw how few items some of the low level ones carried. I started thinking perhaps that gold piece number in PFS was a target number to keep a player in check from being too powerful. I guess it is to a point but it's not as limiting as I feared.

Whew!

Thanks everyone!

Off to buy stuff...

Snip

The question I have is once you have the Fame level required does that number, say 8,000 gp, mean you're only allowed that much in total on your character or does that new spending level mean if you have the gold in your pocket you can use it as needed?

Just wanted to know if I need to do the math to see if my armor, weapons, gear and magic items match this number or if it's a tiered spending slo,t and if I have the cash, I can spend it on whatever. Well, what's on my scenario sheets plus my armor and weapon needs, anyway.

Thanks ahead of time.

Snip

Thank you, everyone!

I do have Dangerously Curious on my Rogue. My Charisma is a 14. I'll keep an eye out for magic items that boost it.

I recently added Goggles of Minute Seeing (+5 to DD) and Boots of Elven Kind (+5 to Acrobatics) and I started wondering if there might be an item that gave a +5 to UMD out there. I know I could not find it.

Thanks again.

Snip

Just like the thread title: does anyone know of a magic item that gives a plus to UMD?

It's for my PFS Rogue.

Thanks ahead of time.

Wow!

Lots of discussion since last I looked at my thread.

Well, I also asked around a couple tables during PFS play and gathered some great info there too. I normally play a Finesse Rogue. By normally I mean only so far -- like ten times -- because I'm new.

Anyway, I went with a Tiefling Magus like I wanted to. I dropped the Darkness spell power for Maw & Claw and I also dropped the Sorcerer stuff to add in Prehensile Tail. Not sure I'll take the additional feat.

I also went with a high DEX build and took Weapon Finesse and my first of two ranks in Perform: Dance to open the Feat Dervish Dance so I can use Scimitars and get a bonus to damage from Dex instead of STR. I was also told to get Keen on my Scimitar ASAP and use it with a spell like Shocking Grasp in a Spellstrike. I guess that cuts right through monsters. Nice!

Thanks for all the comments and advice. I've played him once at a game so far and had a blast! I can't wait to bring him to the table again...

Thanks everyone!

All the replies are tremendous help.

Off to plan...

I am building a Tiefling Magus to play in PFS.

What is the Feat I need called that opens up things like Prehensile Tail and Bears Maw?

Someone told me at a game I need a prereq feat for something and I think it's this.

Any help is appreciated. I'm new and clueless to both the Magus class and the Tiefling race but intrigued by both.

Thanks ahead of time for the help.

Thanks everyone!

These all help a lot.

I have a Finesse Rogue build for my PFS games. I'm new to Pathfinder and was wondering if there is a feat where my DEX modifier does damage instead of my STR modifier? Do I need levels of Ninja or anything odd like that as well?

Thanks ahead of time.

Snip

I'm looking for build advice on the Magus class for my PFS game. I've never played the class before and really have no clue where to begin. I like the Elric of Melnibone build but a Staff Magus looks cool too.

Anyone have a favorite build with stats, weapons and feats to take they'd like to share? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks ahead of time.

NP, with the upgrade to 3.75, half elves and half orcs get an improvement when you think of it.

They sure do. Much better.

I still like my idea even if I was so far off the mark. Ah well.

The change to the Half-Orc was to get them out of he stupid brute idiot box they'd been painted into and make it a true combination of orcish heritage and human flexibility. You CAN make your half-orc an idiot of brute strength if you WANT to. You're simply no longer locked into that stereotype.

Exactly my point and why I wanted a combination of the older rule in 3.5 and a tweak of the rule to help benefit from both races.

Say I wanted a Half Orc Wizard. I'd pick CON as one of my +2s and not STR. For my +2 to add wherever from my Human side, I'd put in INT. Done. Plug in the rest of my numbers and pick my spells. Time to play.

I suppose my idea for a tweak of the rule might've been they thought it too overpowered. Dunno.

I guess my concern is I don't see a 'mix' in their current rule choice for the Half races. I see three Human picks when rolling up Ability scores and that's all.

Thanks for the quick reply.

My first post and my first ever thread started here. I'm so excited!

This topic is more just me looking for opinions on a set Pathfinder rule.

Okay, under 3.5 rules the Half Orc had...what a +2 to STR and CON and a -2 to CHA. The Half Elf had...um...a +2 to INT and DEX and a -2 to CON. Is that correct? I believe so.

My question is why did Pathfinder under their new basically 3.75 rules system give the two 'mixed' races the same +2 to drop in any stat of their choosing like a Human and that's all?

I think, since these two are mixed races, that the rule should have been that the player pick one of the former +2s -- STR or CON for the Half Orc and INT or DEX for the Half Elf and THEN, with only the one used, they could add the Humans +2 to wherever they like. These are two races joined, yes? They should benefit from each parent...to a point.

My only concern is that -2. Hmm? Not sure what to do about that.

Opinions?

Thanks ahead of time everyone.
