I'm gonna withdraw from this game guys. I'm trying to drastically reduce my PBP load, so this is one of several games I'm dropping. Thanks for the fun, feel free to DMPC Gerard as long as necessary.

"I have some rope, enough of it to mummify him I believe.

I'd say lets end combat. See what the dead ones have on their bodies. If there are any more goblins, the fleeing ones will probably lead us right to them. If they are alone we can hunt them down at our leisure.

Oh, sorry. I'm too slow to do anything about this. If logen didn't get the last goblin, then it escaped. I thought the fight was over.

Move (under Move Actions combat section) wrote:
The simplest move action is moving your speed. If you take this kind of move action during your turn, you can't also take a 5-foot step...

That's why the withdraw action exists. You can't move and 5' step in the same round. If you could, you could 5' step out of melee, move your speed and then cast a quickened spell. Or other broken combinations of actions.

Edit:Also, weren't we gonna try to take one alive?

"the goblin close to Logen takes a 5 ft. step away and move 30 ft. away."

You can't really do that, but he can take a Withdraw action to avoid the AOO.

Withdraw wrote:

Withdrawing from melee combat is a full-round action. When you withdraw, you can move up to double your speed. The square you start out in is not considered threatened by any opponent you can see, and therefore visible enemies do not get attacks of opportunity against you when you move from that square. Invisible enemies still get attacks of opportunity against you, and you can't withdraw from combat if you're blinded. You can't take a 5-foot step during the same round in which you withdraw.

If, during the process of withdrawing, you move out of a threatened square (other than the one you started in), enemies get attacks of opportunity as normal.

You may not withdraw using a form of movement for which you don't have a listed speed.

"Logen - Run action? Couldn't you move and then charge for a total of 90 ft.?"

No, charging is a full-round action that lets you move double your speed. Only in the surprise round can you standard action charge, and move only your speed.

Gerard will drop his bow, and draw his longsword readying himself for a two-handed attack on the first orc to approach him.

Free action, drop bow.
Move action, draw longsword.
Standard Action, ready an attack against any enemy that enters melee with him.
Attack (Power Attack) 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

I totally forgot the bardic performance again, please add one to my rolls.

Gerard fires another arrow at the wounded orc.

Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Damage 1d8 ⇒ 6

Gerard pulls back his bow, and fires at the orc that's not caught up in the spell.

Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Damage 1d8 ⇒ 2

Welcome :)

If he's smart he'd ready an action to attack if one gets to us this round, and protect Vaslo.

I can't move up the crest as my surprise round action? I'm aware that combat will be starting.

You can take ten so you don't roll ones ~_~. Not that it's gonna matter much with my 2 (even with the +2 for being 20 ft. back.)

"Lets go. Vaslo, when you're ready cast your spell, and that will be the trigger to attack. I'll hang back a few paces, I'm loud as hell in this armor." Once everyone is ready with their ranged weapons out, Gerard will creep up the hill as quietly as he can his longbow ready.

Taking ten on stealth for a 2. Will stay back 20 feet from the rest of the group.

"There is neither time nor terrain to set up a complex ambush here. If you can entangle them again, the hill and surprise will give us the advantage we need. We pop over the hill, raining arrows at them while you cast your spell. If one or two get out, we can deal with them individually. Once they finish their meal, they may move on or at a minimum will be more alert. We should act now."

"Did they have ranged weapons? We could shoot at them from the top of the hill. Perhaps Vaslo can do that plant trick again, to keep them down there or at least slow them down. If we all focus on one and get off a few good shots I think we can win it."

"Well, lets attack them before they finish. I'll knock out one of the goblins for interrogation. Sound good?"

I also sort of feel that way about Vishkanya and Samsarans. Maybe in an eastern themed game, but a lot of the eastern races just feel horribly out of place to me, and thus cheesy. Guns I like, but they're not for everyone.

My personal opinion are that they are cheesy, ugly and ridiculous. Dunno why, as I said, it's irrational. Not sure why the DM outright ban sticked it though.

I won't be giving my vote to a Tengu. I irrationally hate them.

Mirela - Witch is missing spells known list. I'd rather see her with slumber hex, and ability focus (slumber) than Spell Focus (Enchantment). Infernal healing is more efficient than CLW. Other than that she looks fine to me.

Arduino - Similar vein to the witch but without the healing. With slumber hex witch would probably make a better debuffer, but Color Spray is nasty at low levels. Arkwright is a solid player, will vouch for him.

I'm not seeing any other complete submissions yet. I'd like to see what Heterocephalus' cleric looks like. Right now the witch probably has more versatility with the healing and similar debuff spells. An oracle of the heavens with color spray and some healing would also fill the niche nicely.

No complaining, just stating preference for any new blood. :)

As far as a replacement goes we could use some more magic in the group. A witch/wizard or a cleric would be nice.

"While examining the campsite you notice that the way the bones are scatter seams to indicate that what ever the ate here sad in a circle. As you wander the campsite you find that nothing is left behind besides to bones. A closer look on the on both tracks they appear to be of the small size, both smaller than yours. As you search the campsite Zeke sits eagerly by the site where the track splits into two. From his higher vantage point Sir Voldniq sees nothing out of the ordinary."

We want to backtrack to where the trail split, and follow the one that went east instead of south this time. On the presumption that we already killed the goblins headed south, and now the only goblins we know about are the ones who headed east.

Yeah, Darius, Logen, Vaslo and Me.

Me too.

DM, where are we relative to the other Hamlets? Would it be faster to check on them or go back to the trail?

"There was another trail of a group of goblins that split off from the others was there not? We could go back and follow it. Otherwise we might just end up wandering around randomly."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

"Yeah, who knows? Go find out. We do know however that there are more goblins most likely headed for another village at this very moment. We don't want what happened to you to happen to anyone else. I will ask good Sir Volniq to accompany you back to the Castle. We are needed elsewhere. You must be brave my lad." Gerard says smiling, he slaps the boy heartily on his shoulder.

There ya go, Nimon written out of the game without getting killed. The party gets to go keep having fun.

"Do you two know where Castle Firrenne is?" Gerard asks the young man and woman.

-shrug- I'm fine either way. If you replace him we've already got a pretty balanced group so whatever would be fine in my opinion.

"We have to go back and follow the other group that split off from this one at the last village. Otherwise we have no idea where the other goblins would be. How are we going to bait them if we aren't in communication with them and don't know where they are? After we find them, that would be an excellent idea. No more of this running after them crap." Gerard chimes in.

"They're from that burned village we passed. Here's another drawing like the one we have." he answers Logen. Turning to the young man, Gerard asks him, "Do you know what this is, or why the goblins would be looking for it? Do you know where they were taking you?"

"As my companion said, we're from Castle Firrenne. You needn't fear any longer. Are you two unharmed?" Gerard asks, moving over to slice the rope off of them.

Yay!

Gerard, seeing how close he is to the goblins sprints the last few meters yowling wildly. He brings his longsword down in a powerful overhead slash, leaving defense to the wind.

Charge, Power Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

For the fourth time I believe.... x_x

Gerard will run UNTIL he reaches charging distance. Then he will charge.

In case I actually get there this round...
Attack (Power Attack, Charge) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Gerard runs until he is forty feet out from the goblins, then he picks a target and his lungs heaving, sweat streaming down his face charges the little bugger with a blood curdling roar.

Run until I'm in charging distance, and then charge the closest one.

Attack (Power Attack) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Damage 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Still taking run actions until I get to them.

Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Sir Gerard will break out into a full out sprint. Must....buy......horse....

Run actions until caught up to the goblins. Sword and shield out.

"Stick with the plan. Get in there ASAP and kill those little bastards."

Ready to advance

"Voldniq and Zeke, double time! Cut off their advance while we hit them from the rear. Assuming those shadows are orcs and golbins that is." Gerard says.

I'm assuming the lion and mounted person are faster than the silhouettes. They can ride/run around to the front of the group and stop them, while the rest of us run up and kill them.

Silhouettes of people or buildings?

"Time is of the essence, if there are no living in there we should leave now, lest we find another village full of death at our next stop." Gerard says, clearly concerned that the group is failing to protect the locals. He's pacing back and forth picking at his finger nails impatiently.

"No time to waste then. Let Zeke continue to follow the trail. Lets be after these little terrors." Gerard says, an angry look on his face.

Alright, well lets get on with it then.

So there's likely no cover to make stealth checks in. You have to have cover or concealment to hide. If there are 50 goblins then so be it, we run like hell. I'd rather not split the party again. Then again, I won't physically stop you from running off, I just think it's a bad idea.

I'm cool with that if we're on plains. If we're in a thick forest you should wait until we're like at the edge of the trees.
