Regarding the Earthquake Hand Mortar, thanks for increasing the damage. When I had it doing 1d10 damage, I was looking at a pistol that did 1d6. Which favored enemies are commonly found in The Derutei Imperium? Can Templars be chosen as a favored enemy? Edit: Also, Use Computer is a class skill for Seeker Archetype Rangers. How useful or necessary is it?

Is there a revised list of ranger's favored enemies specially tailored for the space opera game, or will the standard list suffice? I am especially interested to know how robots, cyborgs, and aliens can be chosen as favored enemies (if they exist in this game). Is a robot just another kind of construct? Do cyborgs count as either whatever robots are or as their base race?

Shinrin armed herself with the bow and quiver full of arrows hanging from a coat hook by the door while trying to hold the door shut against intruders with her bewitched tangle of locks. She spoke to Krissina saying, "Goblins! I don't know how much longer I can hold them off. Let me know when you are ready to fight!" Strength Check - Hair: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

At the mention of goblins, Shinrin's haired seemed to twitch and grow an inch. She hustled toward the kitchen door with thoughts of holding it fast. Once there, her hair will come fully to life and tendrils of hair will slam and bar the door while she casts Mage Armor on herself. The hair has a 10-foot reach and effectively has a 19 Str. Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 To notice any unexpected sounds coming from the kitchen. Also, Quills (stationed in the kitchen to smell when the food is done cooking) might possibly alert her to goblins in the kitchen.
The group Samwise posted looks good and somewhat balanced. Would the second group also be balanced? Two groups can be interesting with the actions of one affecting the other - not necessarily affecting them immediately but at some point in the future. One large group can work as well, under certain conditions.

Shinrin replied, "I think so. I mean I... I'd better go check..." She rushed into the kitchen to secure the door if she had not done so already. Quills, speak to me. Do you feel safe? DM Wrong wrote:
Perhaps it's just an old witch come to visit me? Hmm... Who do I know who sounds like that? Quills has been acting as kitchen smells detector. Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Shinrin laughed lightheartedly in approval of Daisy's cackle. I wish I could laugh like that. She would make a superb witch. "Hi, Daisy. My name is Shinrin Fukushu, but you can call me 'Shin'. Don't be shy. Have a slice or two of pie." Shinrin was getting into a festive mood and decided to make more of a commitment to tonight's gathering by pouring herself another cup of applejack. This time she sipped it more slowly.

"Yes?" Oh, the dwarf. Did he say 'Vengeance'? Is he talking to me? No ... no, he's not. What could he be calling 'Vengeance'? His boots? His belt? His beard? His axe? Yes, that's it. It's his axe... Ketomir Sandargaard wrote:
"What?" Ah, it's that handsome man talking to the dwarf. Shinrin returned her gaze to Daisy and the cats. She smiled encouragement at Delara to try and give her the strength to survive a social encounter. You're doing great!
All of a sudden Shinrin stood up straighter than before, her eyes seeming to focus intensely on nothing in particular. She sniffed the air and said, "The pies are done. If you will excuse me, this won't take long." Thank you, Quills. I am on my way. Shinrin hustled into the kitchen, returning moments later bearing two steaming hot pies which she set on a cloth on the bar. She went back into the kitchen to get a stack of plates, some forks and knives, and a couple of serving utensils, which she set next to the pies. "Help yourselves, everyone. One's chicken pot, the other's steak and kidney. Be careful not to burn yourselves, they're hot." Then she rejoined Delara, Samwise, and Daisy.
Shinrin's eyes widened in horror as Delara pointed out her mistake. "I am so sorry. I meant to say Scratch. I don't know what happened. It must be all this drink going to my head." She slipped behind the counter, poured herself a cup of applejack - her first drink of the evening - and swallowed it all down with one quick gulp. Then she took the rest of the bottle and rejoined the party, making sure to leave Brathan enough silver.
Shinrin nodded in agreement. Once Brathan had filled Delara's mug, she led the cat woman over to meet the cat man. "Good evening, Samwise. Please forgive me if I am interrupting anything, but I was just making Snatch's acquaintance." She paused to gesture toward Delara. "And I thought that it would be a good idea to bring her over to meet you. Who is your friend? Hi. My name is Shinrin."
Shinrin was delighted to hear Crecimi's plan not only to regrow the Chitterwood but also to re-introduce silkworms to the region. O Silk! Silk, silk, silk, silk, silk! She rubbed the finely woven silk scarf that she wore about her neck, a memento of the world that was, across her cheek sending rivulets of pleasure rippling throughout her body. She did so love the feel of silk. Nothing could be more important than this task that has been set before us. She returned her thoughts to the young cat-woman sitting beside her and continued their conversation. "Daughter of nobody important you say? Nonsense. They must have been very special people indeed to have brought you into the world. You are about to regrow an entire forest, for goodness’ sake. I am pleased to make your acquaintance, Scratch. And yes, you can call me Shin. Say, I couldn’t help but notice that you are not the only – uh, please forgive me, but is it correct to say ‘cat person’? – here tonight. Are you by chance acquainted with Samwise? He is a bit of a regular. Perhaps I could introduce you?"
Shinrin navigated her way gingerly through the crowded tavern offering biscuits to the all and sundry before settling down next to Delara. She smiled at her feline guest and said, ”Hello, dearie. I hope you don’t mind if I join you. Would you care for a biscuit?” Shinrin started nibbling one of her own and listened with rapt attention for Crecimi’s answers to various questions, especially to those posed by Delara, Ashtari and Tamis.
Having finished making several pies, Shinrin set them to baking. She wiped her hands on her apron, stirred the hunter's stew in the pot, then took a basket of biscuits out to Kirsi in the common room. She was about to hand them over to Kirsi when Crecimi De Bosques made her proposal. Shinrin shrieked gleefully waving the basket carelessly through the air exclaiming, "Yes! I want to regrow the Chitterwood! I.. Oh, take me with you!!! Please?! I'll cook for you." She looked sheepishly at Brathan, realizing too late that she probably should have said that out of his earshot, then shrugged when she decided that she really did not care what he thought. She did so miss her home! Shinrin frowned at the rude, sylvan-phobic tone of Tiago's question, but then smiled at Kirsi's response. She walked over to them and chastised the old man saying, "Tiago, I told you before not to disrespect the forest. Do you want me to break your nose again?" An instant later her demeanor softened and her voice changed from bitter to sickeningly sweet as she handed the old man a biscuit. "Biscuit? They're fresh-baked."
Hi. I am not quite done yet, but here is what I have so far for so as not to surprise you at the last minute. Born of the Chitterwood and exiled to its outer reaches since the great fire that destroyed her once beautiful forest, Shinrin Fukushu as she has come to be known, or "Shin" for short, has been working as cook at The Drunken Silkworm for many a year now. This she-elf's black almond-shaped eyes and nearly fey facial features are alluring and disturbing in equal measure. Although she seems pleasant enough to deal with, and the food she serves is as nutritious and delicious as any you've tasted in your travels, years of anger and hatred over what was done to her - no wait, to the forest - simmer just beneath the surface. Shin is a vessel containing the forest spirit's thirst for vengeance. Yet she is also filled with the hope of bringing the Chitterwood back to life. Shinrin "Shin" Fukushu ("Forest Vengeance")
