So picture the scene if you will. A scout finds a super rare dungeon entrance, this is a legendary(or equivalent) find. He sells this to a guild and the brave adventurers enter the dungeon. 8 levels down of mayhem ensues. They come to the 9th level and have the ability to create an underground settlement. This will be a special site that an underground settlement can be formed. What can this underground settlement give you. Access to a very high amount of ore (mining).
It will encourage the economy as the holding guild will have to hire people to protect its borders. and also there will be a requirement for an escort back up to the surface. Im thinking maybe 1 per every 150 hexes? any how lets start a discussion :) marko ![]()
I agree that Goblins as a playable race SHOULD come as a Chargeable Expansion. Simple fact is as someone stated previously the CORE races are first and then later on everything opens up. Heres something to discuss also, Everquest one has an expansion devoted to Becoming a monster and actually going out to stop hero PC's from doing quests. Why not have something like that in PFO like Andius said a 'we be goblins online' expansion that actually lets the Players create roving bands of monsters! There is a enough magic within the world of Galorian for an inherently evil Character to be 'Converted' changed to be good. but thats my thourghts :) discuss! :) ![]()
Evening all, I would like to throw in a point of discussion, What about having Goblins as a playable race in the future? I think the pathfinder Goblin is Iconic in its own right! (HECK Goblin works has it as its logo). So maybe for people who go completely C/E they unlike Goblins as playable? Discuss? Thourghts? marko ![]()
I think you guys are thinking that were going to be shoulder to shoulder here, from what some people are saying if your killed theres going to be a Queue of people waiting to loot your corpse. Lets take a step back and examine that: 4,500 people in a Massive area (month 1)
The fact that there is so much land is going to make people happening on your corpse very small. @Balodek, if your going to be a ranger/explorer then maybe a level of rogue to get your stealth ability? As some one said previously, this is purely from a design aspect so i wouldnt write it off completely :) Cant wait to be honest :) ![]()
@Balodek: I understand your frustration here, but from what you have said you can bring a fair few bodies to the table, my question to you is are they ALL going to be gathering? You seem like youll be wanting to be a crafter/Merchant, you will have the resource to hire people to come with you and defend you or Surely one of your 20 od people will come with you? @RyanD: Good Blog! Im happy to say me and the missus are already planning out what were going to do when we get in! @Everyone else: I like the concepts put forward so far, its turning out to be a very organic world from what i can see! :) ![]()
Id like to throw my 10 pence worth in here The distinction between free and subscriber should be purely asthetics, maybe limit the ammount of resources a free character can mine gather in one day also, and also allow subscribers to have access to better looking houses/buildings, free account holders should not imo be able to create a village also. For me the whole skills issue is a mut point as eventually the Goblin inc guys will release skill packages for sale to allow new players to catch up (Note i said catch up not surpass), this has to be put in place later on or there will be a very big imbalance on the battlefield imo. I have every intention of subscribing so im not fussed either way. What i do like though is the Goblin Points Idea! :D hehehe thanks marko ![]()
I am going to Chime in on this one, as i have played a lot of open-pvp games from UO, Endless ages and Eve. Some of the Ideas i have are simple. Like stated before a system that marks a 'Griefer' as red and stops that said person from trading with normal cities, this person would have to trade with the yet un-named hive scum and villainy. Allow certain items to be bound or better still allow binding of weapons and items to be a sorcerer/wizard spell this adds more of an economic twist to the pvp. or create a 'nullsec' zone that allows only pvp there. open-pvp makes for a good game wheather you like pvp or not... what it does is allow organic growth and evolution of the game... EXAMPLE: Player 1 is being griefed by player 2... player 1 is so mad that he places a bounty on player 2's head off his own back, now the griefer has become the griefed. Some one has to travel to a mine that is known to be the haunt of a griefer, he 'hires' pathfinders as his bodyguard as he mines the ore. Griefers or no its the players that will find away around any nonsense like that just my 2 cents marko ![]()
My Wish list is as follows: 1) Player ability to create houses and towns - nothing like exploring these structures where people sell stuff they have gathered. 2) PKing is allowed. 3) No Quick travel, if you must do it make it so you have a runebook like UO did and you have to have the runes to port to the places. 4) the ability to create Empty books and write in them and store them or put them out for people to read. 5) Simple yet robust crafting system, that allows for discoverys while crafting and the chance to craft Better items. 6) GOBLINWORKS INC dont pander to the whiners, you have to be like CCP and be hands off, if there is a complaint about balance thats fine, let the world evolve to deal with it, this is key the balance will find itself in a sandbox world, no knee jerk reactions watch observe the world you have created. Some one is pking lots of people .... locking down an area so quest npcs cant spawn ... DONT level up the gaurds, watch and see how the other players rise up against this pker.... this is the most important thing. Code errors ... bugs.... stuff like that fine ... but you have to be confident in your players and the ability they have to adapt. 7)player dungeons is a good idea, player buys a structure and then crafts/buys/quests for monster tokens that can be placed on the ground for moster to spawn. Simple idea and allows guilds to set up competions events and the like. But only allow placement of these within your OWN structures to stop with griefing. 8)Allow players to create Quests. 9)DEEP customization of EVERYTHING. I want to be able to name the AWESOME sword i just spent 4 weeks trying to create! :) that is all at mo ![]()
Morning! Currently, myself and a few other people at work are creating a guild with a PvP focus. Currently we have 10 members working on various resources for it. We want in on the initial release, and are offering people spaces to bolster the ranks. TOOO EARLY i hear you cry! nah not really, the quicker you have a group of people on the same page the quicker you can progress when you are finally let on. the 10 people we have intially are veteran mmoers from MUD/UO up to Swtor, We have a raid leader who has successfully downed a number of high level raid bosses in EQ wow city of heroes etcs. We have a number of pvps who were well ranked in pvp on wow. So that being said, what are the plans for the guild. well.
We will offer protection for a price, equipment for a price, and knowledge for a price. So if you want to discuss anything, please feel free to post here, if you want to 'join' you are more then welcome to approach me for my email address and we can chat. If your thinking of creating a guild and would like to ally please let me know and we can start off on the right foot. Yep they havent sorted out the middle ware yet that doesnt me alliances cant be forged and guilds created! Peace out guys Marko ![]()
Pking was handled best in Ultima Online and Endless ages, you kill some one your name turns red for a number of minutes, you keep Pking your red name stays longer and longer the more innocents you kill. It will make the gaurds attack you on site, allow bounties on your head and you will only be able to trade with the faction in Echo wood (the villains). Eventually you will go 'blue' again and be a normal citizen but some pk guilds were permanantly red! Its fun, means you have a split and player 'badguys' you can hunt and fight. just my 10 pence worth Marko

![]() Hey, It's me! I've started some other threads about my Rusthenge>Seven Dooms>Curtain Call game, and we're coming towards the end of our Sandpoint adventures. Rest in spoilers. If you read this, you'll have spoiled yourself. GMs only from here on in.:
Okay, so the team was successful in stopping Jordus Munt from becoming the new Sandpoint Devil, but they noticed that when he died his soul escaped and got sucked down towards the bottom of the pit. One of my players said, "Oh no, I hope we didn't just power up the Sandpoint Devil by accident" which of course means that they did. So now I'm left with the conundrum about how to power up the Sandpoint Devil enough to have it be a solid threat towards the end game. I was thinking of making it a Creature 11 with three 'shadows' of itself at Creature 8. That should be a bit of a harrowing, if Moderate, encounter for a party of four level 11 characters. How do I power up the Devil to be a Creature 11? I've read some of the Monster design but it isn't really sticking well, and while I want this to be tough I don't want to wreck my party. I want to challenge them not beat them. One ability that I want it to have is a three action, once a week, create three shadows of the Sandpoint Devil, each with the stats of a standard Sandpoint Devil. Beyond that, should I just use the Elite template three times to make the Devil a Creature 11? Any and all help would be appreciated! Thanks everyone! ![]()

![]() Monarch is a pretty cool weapon from Seven Dooms, and I've gotten access to it by running the game. My concern, the weapon is explicitly made of Low-Grade Silver. I know in PFS we can upgrade runes on named items, taking a Gloom Blade from a +2 Striking to a +2 Greater Striking, but is there a way to upgrade the material a weapon is made of? Like, can I pay the 880g (or is it 840g because Low-Grade is 40g) to upgrade it to Standard Silver? Thank you in advance for your aid, advice, and answers! ![]()

![]() So my group just finished up the first few chapters of Seven Dooms, and I reported the table so I could provide them with their chronicles. One point of contention, the sanctioning document for Seven Dooms says that characters can get 2 copies of the chronicle but when I was reporting the form said 1 of 1. Is that because the chronicle is the same regardless of when you get it, or can characters really only get one and the second sheet has to be reported on a different character, or is the sanctioning document wrong and you can only get one chronicle? ![]()

![]() So I'm running this in a couple of weeks and asked my local VA if I could get started prepping it. I haven't gotten very far yet but I did notice that on the page with all the treasure bundle information and how to calculate tiers and all that information, the treasure bundle information was set for a 1-4 instead of a 5-8. I mean, it isn't that difficult to look up the information but I'd hate to have a GM who is covering for someone else last minute not have that information. ![]()

![]() I'm relatively new to home campaign GMing, usually I'm running PFS scenarios and just playing in home games. BUT, I wanted to try something new. I'm having some trouble swapping out treasures for stuff that my party can use. For example, at one point the party is supposed to earn, by the book, a minor sturdy shield, goggles of night, and a wand of ray of enfeeblement. The wand and goggles I just updated to the remaster versions, but no one in the party uses a shield. I didn't like the idea of just giving treasure that it going to get sold, so I did a quick search and found a different level 4 item worth around 100g, and gave my party a Shining Wayfinder instead. Not a bad choice, but it was also a bit last minute. My party is a Way of the Drifter Gunslinger, Deer Instinct Barbarian, Angel Eidolon Summoner with a Sorcerer Dedication, and an Inscribed One Witch, and the party is about to hit level 5. The fundamental runes are already in place, but I'm stretching for things to give that aren't just "Sell this to get the thing you really want." Any ideas? ![]()

![]() Going to put this all under a spoiler tag so if you read this and you aren't GMing or something it's all on you. Fight towards the end of Chapter 1: Okay, that fight with the Combusted is a bit difficult. They don't form until people are in the room, and even if you space them out the aoe of their Blazing Howl overlaps a bit and you can easily catch a player in two or even three of them. Then the aura on top of that... geez. I mean, it was partly my party's fault because none of them could make the religion check to recall knowledge about them, and even when I mentioned that they were on fire no one tried any cold spells or even just smacking them with Rousing Splash or something.
The way the fight went, the party ended up with a couple members at Dying 3, one member at Wounded 3, and one member, the Gunslinger, with just a little damage on him. Wounded 3 got off a three action heal and got everyone up in time and they limped back to Father Zantus for some more in depth healing. Are we sure the Blazing Howl is only one action? It feels like it should be a two action ability... ![]()

![]() So if a friend of mine is a high enough Summoner with say a Wizard dedication, can they use the Master Summoner feat to designate one of their Wizard spell slots as two Summon Spells of the same rank? Wording of Master Summoner copied and pasted from AoN:
Has there been a ruling about this and I missed it? I couldn't find anything when I did a search. In the home game I am currently running I said no, it felt too much like the Warlock cheese from 5e, but now we're both curious if this is allowed in PFS... ![]()

![]() So I just created my first wizard in PF2, I'm playing them tonight through the Second Confirmation, Love that for me. Made them in line with the Remaster, went with School of the Boundry, having a lot of fun with her. Are there currently or will there be in the future restricted spells that will be on curated lists similar to the Esoteric Spellcaster boon? I'm fairly certain that all the spells I chose for Courtney my wizard are currently allowed, but I'm trying to plan for the future and I don't want to pay 40 AcP for an Esoteric Spellcaster if that spell is going to be in a future Remaster product that I won't need the boon. Basically, is there a timetable that is being looked at to provide an updated list of spells for an updated Esoteric Spellcaster boon? Not looking for a hard street date or anything, I don't need time and date unless y'all already have that info locked in. Just a "Yeah, this is in the works" or "You won't really need to worry about that" or something else along those lines. Thanks in advance! ![]()

![]() So we've got a big shake-up coming later this year, with it confirmed that at least 1 deity is dying. Lots of fun, can't wait for it. What happens to Society PCs who are dependent in some way on that deity, like a cleric or champion of said deity? Would there be a rebuild period? Would that character be allowed to change to a different deity but keep for example domain selections in case the new deity doesn't have the domains that the cleric chose previously? My google-fu did not show that this topic had be brought up, and I'm curious because I was thinking of building a cleric for my next character and I don't want to get into a situation where I choose say Milani and then later this year oops Milani kicked the bucket and now I have to choose someone else. This is also presuming that the deity in question is one that is allowed for worship in PFS, so this may not be a concern at all. ![]()

![]() Hey all! So, I was thinking about attending Midwinter Gaming Convention in Milwaukee in January for some LARP fun, and I was wondering if there were any plans to have PFS there as well? Vampire doesn't start until 6:30, so I should be able to get in a late morning or early afternoon game or two. I checked the schedule but it is also hellaciously early for this. If it helps, I'm willing to GM a few slots (Hey, that would help with my Badge as well!) in the same time frame as above. Any information would be appreciated! ![]()

![]() Forgive me if this has been asked before, my search was weak and I didn't find anything. My main experience has been with the Adventure Card Guild play, and I recently picked up the Mummy's Mask base set to try playing with my wife at home. We're playing the AP and I was wondering if we were supposed to cycle cards out of the box like we do in the ACG. For example, if we were playing book 3, should we still be using B Basic cards? Should deck 1 still be mixed in? Should all the cards be mixed in together? I'm a little confused and I didn't see anything about this in the instruction manual. Thanks in advance for any help! ![]()

![]() This might be a bit of a silly question, but... Since shields show up on the weapon table, does this mean that I can use Quick Draw to equip a shield? Obviously, outside of Core, this isn't an issue, we have quick draw shields, no big deal. But I'm curious (that is to say, I'm building a Bastard Sword character) about whether this works the way I think it works... ![]()

![]() Since Season 8 starts in about 4 months, I was wondering a couple things... Would it be possible to extend the hit point table a little bit to include a section for Eidolons, Animal Companions, Familiars, etc.? And in a similar vein, can we expand the Spell Cost section a little bit to include a table showing the cost to scribe spells from a borrowed spell book? Both of these seem like they should be included in the 'Character Creation' section of the guide, and would benefit new players who might otherwise be overwhelmed trying to find said information on the website. I'm pretty sure there are other things that have been FAQed over the years that are really amazing for new players to know, but at the same time daunting to find trying to sift through all the message board posts. ![]()

![]() The other day in the course of the scenario I was playing, the party was speaking with Amenophus. After all the box text, the GM asked if we had any questions for him. I rolled a die, smiled, and said "Well a 23 beats the DC 20 Knowledge (Arcana) check so Taryn asks, 'Amenophus, have you heard about the Dark Archive? Mistress Zarta would love to have a Scholar of your caliber on board with her.'" My GM said that I wasn't allowed to recruit the head of another faction to join the Dark Archive, even though he *is* a 'Named NPC Scholar, knowledgeable Spellcaster, or similar figure.' ![]()

![]() It is looking less and less likely that I'll make it to GenCon this year, which is a shame because I was really excited when I saw the schedule that Mike and the others had put together. So, in light of not being able to go, I was wondering if the two specials currently being referred to as 'We Be Aspis' and 'We Be Kobolds' were going to be con-exclusive after GenCon, or will they be available for any 4- or 5-star GM to run, or will they be available available, and open for anyone to run anytime anywhere? (I may have asked this before, but I can't find the post if I did. If it has been asked, I apologize for the double post.) ![]()

![]() Per the APG, you can have an unlimited number of class archetypes so long as they don't alter the same class feature. A question came up recently in a Facebook Pathfinder group I'm in regarding the modification of a class's skills. For example, let's say I wanted to make a combination Snakebite Striker/Steel-Breaker brawler. Both archetypes alter the Brawler class skills, and therefore could be considered overlapping. However, Snakebite Striker trades out Intimidate for Bluff and Stealth, while Steel-Breaker trades out Knowledge(Dungeoneering) for Knowledge(Engineering), which would not be an overlap. Is it enough to simply say that the class skills are altered thus changing the same class feature, or do we need to look at the individual skills to see if there is any overlap? I understand that in a home game mileage may vary, but the question was asked in a PFS group, so I'm curious if there's any thought one way or the other. ![]()

![]() So I'm creating a bladebound magus for PFS play, and I was wondering if it is possible to modify the Black Blade with gold as well as Arcane Pool Points. Specifically, I'm wondering if I could get Agile put on it, for I have a much higher Dex than Str on this character, and since my BB can be a rapier anyway, and I qualify for Weapon Finesse, it would make me much more effective. Thanks for all the answers in advance! |
