Welcome to the Discussion thread for the DnD Next/5E playtest game!

Still a work in progress here but I wanted to give you guys some stuff to work with to start conceptualizing on your side.

For character gen, you guys can use anything that is in the playtest packet. After all, what kind of a test would it be otherwise?

Starting points: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8.
Starting equipment: Use either your class/background starting stuff or you can use 150 gold to set yourself up with the equipment page.
Specialties: Please feel free to use these.

Bottom line, I want to follow the test as closely as possible at least to start it off. It is an adventure that is broken up into six different chapters, obviously as it progresses we can house-rule and such as we feel fit.

Looking to see if anyone is running or looking to run a playtest pbp?

Hey there!

Been off the forums for a while but I'd love to get back into a 4e game. Anyone currently recruiting or thinking of starting a new game?

I have some interest in running this one as a PbP but I was wondering if anyone else had any plans on running it? I'd love to play it before I run it and as I'm still a relatively new DM I want to prepare a little bit before I run a game of it.

I need two players to fill in some MIA player spots, the group is currently at level 2 and is still around the main town so it should be easy enough to work in new characters.

On today's update for the penny arcade website Tycho mentions:

"We're about to record the next D&D podcast, if you're interested in that kind of thing. If the last session was any indicator of future performance, wish me luck."

Very exciting!

On that note has anyone used the Storm Tower adventure from the D&D website in their own campaigns? If so, how did you like it? I'm giving thought to incorporating it into future sessions.

-"The Gilded Lady", Highmoon-

A low fire burns in the hearth of this comfortable common room. The tavern, is empty of patrons except for a lone human man nestled in a corner booth. The bartender is doing his best not to doze off on his counter while he flips a bottle cap into an empty mug. He looks up at the mention of a fire but quickly looks bored once more and returns to his impromptu game.

As mundane as it may seem, Most of you have been traveling for some time just to come to this place. You have arrived with no troubles and only now do you wait on a friend whom it is next to impossible to miss. You sit over drinks with old friends and discuss the possibility of working together to earn yourselves some gold, fame and maybe even answers for your individual struggles.

There is a table set up with enough chairs for all of your characters but feel free to place yourselves wherever you would like, we're still waiting on our goliath friend but I thought I'd give you all the chance to get into character and start describing your appearances with each other.

This is the discussion thread for the Forgotten Realms PBP campaign starting with an adaptation of "Keep on the Shadowfell"

Please check in your characters here and feel free to chat and discuss how you all are acquainted. I would much rather have common links then just a random encounter.

My best suggestion is that each of you tie yourselves to two others of you.

I hope to have the game up and running by monday or tuesday, I know it's a holiday this weekend so a lot of you may not be around but we'll see what we can work out.

I'm checking interest and hopefully looking to start up a Forgotten Realms campaign with Keep on the Shadowfell now that the PHBII is out. I've played D&D for a while now but It's going to be my first time DMing a game(short of teaching a friend to play in person with solo combat encounters and such) I'm also new to the FR setting, but I'm hoping that I can pull together a good group that will help me get off my feet as a DM!

Players: 5, possibly 6
Gold: Standard 100gp
Items: I will allow everyone to start with one Lvl. 1 or 2 magic item
Stat Gen: 22 point buy
Posting Limitations: Minimum of one post per day (I work as a manager of a retail clothing store, but I do have a palm pilot so usually I can jump on to make a few posts on the days that I work for the majority of.)
Books: Anything from the published books will be allowed. I would rather not have anything from dragon play test but It will be up for debate.

I would like to have a story driven game, so role-playing will be rewarded as well.

The characters will be starting in the city of Highmoon, the capital of Deepingdale. You will be sitting over drinks together at a tavern called "the Gilded Lady".

Let's see if we can get a game rolling!

Looking for a group to play with in the east valley area, I've been playing 4e with a friend and sort of filling the role of a dm as well as running a pc to teach him how to play, but we would both really like to get into a local group.

I'm gonna be traveling around this week but I'll have internet so I'd like to get into a pbp game if possible and would love to give 4e a go, anyone starting one?

Was hoping maybe I could get a group to play with either close to me or using some chat program, I've tried to play in a play by post game before but I had a hard time with the group since they weren't entirely consistent.

I wouldn't be closed off to play by post, also I would love to get into a 4th edition game since I've been reading up about it a bit and it seems like now would be a good jumping off point to get into the game.
