So! I had a question and, whilst it would be nice if an official Paizo member had said something in the past and somebody could cite the information, I'd be happy to just see an educated discussion on this matter... I made a mistake when I was picking a Path Ability in the past for my character, a choice that I regret having made. I took Leadership for a few reasons and thought that I'd have my cohort with me at all times, so I also took Mythic Leadership. To get it, I took the Universal Path Ability 'Extra Mythic Feat'. I asked the DM if I could retrain and maybe take Legendary Item, as the fluff is a little more appealing to me now and I'd actually get a little use out of it... The DM said that I couldn't retrain my Path Ability, but I could retrain my feat. I left it there, as I wasn't prepared enough for an educated discussion on the matter (and it's honestly a weird rule, so I think he made the decision on the fly because he wasn't sure how the rules treat it). I have been thinking it over and trying to find information on this, but it's few and far between. One thought that came to me was that you need somebody to help retrain you, so I'll need another mythic person with said mythic feat (that I may or may not switch to). If somebody can do that for a feat, why not a mythic ability? Would it not be a mythic equivalent of retraining, say, a revelation choice? I /did/ read some information on the compassion of how mythic path abilities were treated like class abilities, so they SHOULD be able to be retrained, but I was wondering if anybody maybe had some quotes from official paizo members or anything to clarify mine and my DM's confusion? ![]()
So, for a while now I've started to grow curious about DMing for Pathfinder. While I love being the player, it's exceptionally difficult to find a game these days, and a lot of DMs that I've come across aren't very open to things that I'd like to see done. Because of this, I've been considering running a game for a little while now but after having looked at some APs they seem... Kind of strange. The flow doesn't quite seem like what DMs bring to the table and I'm worried that I'd just be a fumbling mess. Does anyone have any advice regarding first time DMers? ![]()
So, I had made a previous post seeing what kind of class people think I should make my cohort and it didn't do super well.
I am aiming for a build that, ideally, will allow the cohort to block, step in front of, or all around defend from attacks. If they can also stop enemies from getting near to my character, that's an added bonus... Path of War is unfortunately not available, as the 'Warder' would have been the perfect class. This is a Wrath of the Righteous game and we're using more than just PFS. Assume that most classes (outside of psionic, Path of War, Spheres of Power) are available. The same goes for feats.
The fluff behind this cohort is that they are a religious character that was saved by the actions of my character during the start of the Wrath campaign. They not only feel as though they owe her their live, but they value the morals that she has displayed so far. Because of this, I like the idea of them 'worshipping' her like she's their Goddess. This also ties into the fact that I am aiming to make my character a Goddess of sorts... Most 'Followers' I acquire will become members of a church to my character if it can be helped. Despite the religious nature of the character they don't need to be a religious class. It can be a fighter or even a barbarian... In reality, I'm just in need of help when it comes to making a good 'protector' character for my back-line healing life-oracle. I'm not super accustomed to the rules. Further information; Cohort level 5 at the time of making and my character's level is 7. 25 Point-Buy ![]()
Renegadeshepherd wrote: As a life oracle you are already propping the group up, you don't need someone to prop you up. Unless the GM is throwing really powerful foes at you personally all the time to the point of singling you out, you don't need a bodyguard. With a d8 of health, healing, and medium armor you should be fine. While this is somewhat true, it isn't entirely. This is Wrath, and demons can teleport right on top of you if they so desire. Not only that, but there's a lot of foes thrown at you, and they are typically pretty powerful compared to average games. I have a lot of HP, but a lucky attack can still easily knock me down. And, I have a chain shirt, as heavier armor will start interfering what what some of my small-time goals are. Hence my though of a bodyguard. Never the less, I'm still looking for ideas for my cohort, not ideas to turn me away from them. There's not much else that I desire as far as feats go. ![]()
