Indecision in his eyes, Sehkola looks to Elijah for some wisdom ...
"I come here because I am told to. I hurt these people because I do what is asked of me and because I want revenge. My brother would tell you the same, were he not otherwise occupied at the moment. Are you going to fight here, in the middle of the city you so dearly wish to protect? Even as we speak, two anrako are almost in this world, and a failed attempt is already here. As I see it, you have two choices, fight me or save a few worthless people." Sehkola actually seems to smile a bit, though there is no mirth in it. "Of course! You work for someone else! I was saying to myself, 'These two are not intelligent enough to do anything on their own, let alone make these nightmare creatures. I wonder how they did it?' Everything makes sense now. And please tell me: exactly why do you think we cannot fight you AND save the people?"
As the witch recites his own fears, Sehkola unconsciously takes a step back. The hairs on his arm stand on end, and M'tala, who had been coiled around his shoulders, hissed. He recovers after only a moment. "Sparks, you say? No. Not for you. That would be far too quick. I think for you, I will run you through the gut with my spear. Your very own kabob, as the Qadirans say. Sehkola goes on, in a menacing growl. "Why do you come here? Why do you hurt these people? They have done you no wrong. You leave, and do not come back. Or your fate will be as I promised."
"Hecate you can't just curse someone with a deadly disease like that because they accidentally bumped into you! People died because of that and they weren't even involved" Elijah states incredulous at her lack of care. Sehkola finally speaks up. "Yes, it would be far less lethal ... but for yourself, I think. Perhaps my mind is fuzzy, but was it not yourself, and your sister ... I mean brother, who ran from us when last we met? To be honest, you should count yourself lucky; my desire was to just kill you outright, but the paladin wished to talk first. I am about to the point where I do not wish to talk any longer."
Amazing. I am the one far from home, yet this paladin is the naive one! Sehkola thinks to himself, as Elijah continues his banter with teh witch. Sehkola begins mentally going over the words necessary for a color spray, and gets ready to cast (although he doesn't make any gestures or words yet).
Sehkola lets Elijah do the talking. He'll ready an action to cast a spell, if it looks like Hecate starts to become hostile.
Sehkola simply stands behind Elijah, saying nothing and allowing the paladin to speak. It is quite obvious, by the electrical currents crossing his eyes, that he is witholding his anger at the witch.
"You are right. That is all we have. Oh, and the fact that she and her 'brother' tried to kill us in those caverns. But I will defer to you, paladin. Lead the way."
"No? Cursing a man with lycanthrope is no reason? I'm afraid I disagree. I think we have ample experience with her to 'take her down' as Kora suggested. She is too dangerous."
"Agreed. After she leaves, then. I may need to remain out of sight, of course, as a 7' tall Mwangi stands out in this town somewhat."
"Interesting. It seems as though we have some time to kill. Of course, we should try to remain unseen here, as she would most certainly recognize us, if she comes in tonight."
"Yes. It would seem these twins are not confined to that island, and their interests extend to Sandpoint. I'm sure that cannot bode well for the town."
"Don't want to talk, eh? We have ways of making you talk ... Why don't you take us to the Inn and answer our questions on the way?"
"Insulting witches. Not a very intelligent thing to do. I'd also like to know what time of day this occurred, if you can recall from the drunken haze you were in."
If there is any difficulty in rousing the man, Sehkola will "tap" him with his large hand (more like a small smack) and say, "Wake, now!"
"We should probably move this somewhere nobody can see right quick before we draw a crowd." "Other than the necromantic magic his bites radiated, which I believe was mentioned, no. Oh, wait, he did talk as though there was another wolf; the fact that he himself was bitten seems to lend credence to this."
"It would appear that way, yes. One thing to note: the beast had patches of purple fur. Though I am new to Avistan, I have never seen a wolf with markings such as that."
Elijah Swings strongly for the head hoping to knock the poor man unconscious before he can change and reek havoc on the community (and Elijah's friends) again. Go down, go down, PLEASE go down! Elijah hopes fervently. "I will defer to the others; however, I feel we should move quickly. And my tongue will not be silent for long, as bringing this beast into the community is dangerous, to say the least."
Sehkola begins the motions of casting a spell, and unleashes a spray of bright colors at the beast . He yells to the others, "My spell will not hurt it, but may slow it down. I do not think we can hope to defeat this creature; I suggest we run!"
"By the gods! I have heard tales of were-jackals from my homeland; I never believed them until now!" Perception, Int check, Initiative (1d20+1=21, 1d20+2=21, 1d20+6=19)
Sehkola rushes over to the man. He looks to Elijah. "Can I help? Do you know what is wrong with him?"
"He turns to the man, "You said that 'it' was not a normal wolf. What did you mean by that? And where is 'it'?""I don't know! I have never seen it. I have only heard it when no on else has, lurking somewhere.." The man shakily gets up, using a tree for support. He looks at the corpses, "I couldn't warn them in time." "If you have not seen it, how do you know it even is a wolf? And how could you not see it when it has clearly bitten you?" Sehkola turns to the others. "Interestingly, his bite radiates some necromantic magic. Somewhat odd."
"I will see if any of the wounds radiate magic, although I feel that the fact they showed evil is likely evidence enough that they are not normal wounds." Sehkola casts detect magic on the man.
"You misunderstand, Lady Kora. It has nothing to do with trust. My thought was he can be bound and tied at the back of the cart; following behind it. No reason to exert the poor mule with the extra weight more than is necessary."
"No need to put him in the cart. He can walk. Besides, it would appear the bodies need to go into the cart." He turns to the man, "You said that 'it' was not a normal wolf. What did you mean by that? And where is 'it'?"
Obviously sensing something seriously wrong with the man, Sehkola readies an action to cast color spray if he does anything aggressive. "All this blood on you, and you are almost unhurt. My first suspicions are that you are the cause of this carnage."
Sehkola turns to the man. "Perhaps you should call out and see if it is one of your friends that answers back?"
He then turns back to the man. "You will accompany us, of course," he says, more as a statement of fact, not a question."Of course. I did not expect you to go into a region when you are relatively new to Sand Point. Lost Coast Road goes through the middle of town and one path leads into the south-eastern forest. With any luck, we will at least be able to find my friends and give them a proper burial. When you are ready, I will lead the way." He waits. So we are body retrieval experts, now, Sehkola thinks to himself. He sighs. "I suppose we will be ready as soon as Kora returns with the cart." He gives the man a 'once-over' as they wait for Kora, trying to see if there is anything unusual or that he isn't telling us. Unfortunately, he's distracted by a bright yellow butterfly, and can't even tell what species the man is, and would believe the man's words even if he said the sky was purple ...
Well, if you think they are dead, what exactly do you expect us to do about it?, Sehkola thinks silently to himself. He looks to Kora and Elijah, "I know not the area. Do either of you know the region in which he speaks?" He then turns back to the man. "You will accompany us, of course," he says, more as a statement of fact, not a question.
Sehkola sighed to himself. He didn't mind helping folks, but was starting to worry the good people of Sandpoint may start to take advantage of him and his new friends. "Yes, were did you last see your friends? And have you tried contacting a ranger who could track?"
Surprisingly, Sehkola speaks up (a rarity at the feast). "I must admit, I originally wanted to impale the creature on my spear. However, I am glad I did not. Gip has proven to be true to her word, and as brave as any of us against the foes we have encountered."
While Sehkola enjoys the festivities, he is not one for storytelling, and will leave that to one of his companions.
Throughout this time, Sehkola will mainly reside at the inn, enjoying the nice room and perks. However, he will maintain a close eye on Chayton, watching for any signs of unusual abilities. As a sorcerer, Sehkola knows this is how his powers first showed themselves, although Chayton is much younger than he was, of course. Occasionally, he will make idle chit-chat with Aurelia, to try and ascertain if she's noticed anything unusual.
"You are correct, of course, Elijah. I have seen much worse than those acid-blooded monsters. I imagine there is even worse yet out there." Sehkola gives a little shudder as he remembers his brother's death at the hands of ... worse.
Sehkola finally lets out a smile. "Well, it is settled. Let us get the child back to his mother!"
"I must add to Kora's question, if I may," Sehkola asks. "I hope I am not seeming rude, but with the amount of magical power you and your daughter seem to posses, why did you require us to get the box back for you? I would think you would be able to easily retrieve it. I know we discussed this a bit before, but I am a bit of a slow learner," he says with a big grin.
As an aside as quietly as possible Sehkola are you going to detect magic on her or what? "No, I do not see the need. Judging by her daughter, she is either an elf or a dragon. If she is an elf, detect magic tells us nothing. If she is a dragon, then I do not wish to anger her. For that matter, even if she is an elf, she and her daughter live near goblins, monsters with acid for blood, and other powerful beings, without having been too bothered. I think either way, I do not wish to anger her."
Sehkola simply looks at the gnome and shakes his head. I know I do not know the culture, but I am not certain this gnome would be considered very polite, he thinks to himself.

whispering backYes it's so much better to save our own necks and hand over some powerful evil artifact to an evil dragon, because that won't have terrible reprocussions. "Yes, and I'm sure we would have no problem keeping said artifact from said dragon, if it desired to just take it from us. In the process making it angrier, as well."
"Well, why don't you take us to see 'mommy'? We'll decide for ourselves what she is. And Gavrin, perhaps you give her the box first, so 'mommy' isn't too upset when we get there."
Sehkola uses detect magic on the inside contents, to see which items gave off the previous aura when the chest was closed. "Yes, I think we should meet your mother," he says, assuming Gavrin's grab for the box doesn't make the child do to him what she did to the goblins earlier ...
Sehkola is startled at the ease with which Sylvia opens the lock. "Magic beyond my understanding ..." he mutters.
