Sehkola talks very little about his past. He originates from the Bekyar, a group of Mwangi that little is known about. What is known or rumored is generally not positive - they are believed to be slave-takers who worship demon lords. Unfortunately, in the case of Sehkola's tribe, it is all-too correct.
Sehkola was born to a minor warrior in the tribe, one who had grown increasingly dissatisfied with the cruel nature of his people. He raised both of his sons to value individual freedom, and to help those who needed it (all in secret, of course). However, when Sehkola first exhibited his sorcerous abilities, his father knew he had to leave the tribe - unlike every other sorcerer the tribe had ever had, Sehkola's abilities obviously did not stem from Abyssal taint. This put him at risk of being seized (and likely killed) by the tribal elders. The family left in the dark of night, heading west and north.
Eventually, they arrived in the Sodden Lands. Believing that this would be a place to hide, they settled there. Life was hard, but ironically, the exposure to the winds of the Eye of Abendego fully brought out Sehkola's powers, and they all managed to survive.
Unfortunately, the tribe they left would not take abandonment lightly. They sent trackers after them, and when they were found in the Sodden Lands years later, they tried to capture them. In the ensuing fight, Sehkola's parents were killed, his brother captured, and he himself was thought killed. Once recovered, Sehkola sent out to follow his former tribesmen; he arrived back only in time to watch in hiding as the tribe executed his brother by feeding him to summoned demon. The next morning, the tribe awoke to find the six warriors assigned to night sentry duty dead, charred as if by lightning.
Sehkola left the Mwangi Expanse after that. He knew he was too weak to offer proper vengeance on the whole tribe and vowed to return. Wandering throughout the continent of Avistan, he has found what work he can; but he finds it difficult as his unusual height and appearance cause to stand out a bit. He has arrived in Sandpoint after spending a little time in Riddleport; he disliked the city as it was too corrupt (and cold); he hopes to find better opportunities in Magnimar.
