problem is this feat replaces animal companion AND is weaker (as written) than Leadership itself

nice idea but complete RAW failure

How do you pick up the more powerful monstrous companions, such as a Dragon Horse, which has an Effective Cohort Level of 16, (and kirin shedu, slepnir....), when a level 20 Druid caps out at an Effective Cohort Level of 12?

what am i missing (or what is missing from eat description? dou you ad some modifiers to your druid level, wisdom or charisma like for leadership?)

unles you have perehensile tail or are a alchemist with vestighal arm/tentacle evolution

Topic says '49 people marked this as FAQ candidate. Answered in the FAQ. 1 person marked this as a favorite.' but when i search Ultimate Combat/Ultimate Equipment (and even COre Rulebook and others) FAQ there is no scorpion whip entry.

Does anyone know where mentioned answer is?

a question about druids

would druid using a wildshape to polymorph into a primate be able to pick up and use manufactured weapons?

if yes would he have a penalty to attack for unusual arms/hands (if the weapon was of the right size and the druid was proficioent with it)

That's 100% a GM call. I would allow it with no penalty, mostly because I've read enough Conan stories to think a gorilla with a scimitar is cool looking.

from Animal Archive about awakened animals

section primates:

'The weapons primates wield also run the gamut. A gorilla might choose an enormous club, a chimpanzee a two-handed sword that lets him take advantage of his tremendous strength, and a monkey a hand crossbow or blunderbuss.'

but does the wildshape somehow differ from that, or does the change in limb shape somehow disbalance the druids grip

so in the Pathfinder primates are phisycali able to use weapons and form a grip

the question is are their limbs to different from humans so that druid polymorphed into one couldnt or would have a penalty to the attack

i know there are several topics where it is discussed but so far i havent been able to find any official answers

on the same note, can he use tools and skills that requirethem (such as disable device)

not entirely redundant...

for one, any ability that only works with trip weapons will work with the sweeper tail attachment.

abilities like what? i wasnt avare that there were any abilities that depended on trip weapon property

concerro wrote:

Yes they provoke.

When a weapon has a property attached to it then you get to weapon enhancement bonuses, and bonuses from other sources to it, when using it to trip someone.

Example: If you try to trip someone with a +3 longsword then you don't get to add the +3 to the attack roll to trip them, but if a weapon has the trip property then you would.

infact that was changed and updated

Quote:

No. When making a trip combat maneuver, you don't have to use a weapon with the trip special feature--you can use any weapon. For example, you can trip with a longsword or an unarmed strike, even though those weapons don't have the trip special feature.

link to FAQ

so if only thing 'trip property' does is toenable you to drop the weapon to avoid being tripped ifyou fail, what does then trip weapon you cant drop (ie sweeper tail attachment) exactly do

does trip weapon property have something else bulit into it, like not provoking attack of oportunity, ie being ' a similar ability' to improved trip (as is mentioned in trip combat maneuvre)?

or is the tripproperty on the sweeper redundant?

do trip attempts with trip weapons provoke attacks of oportunity, and if they do what then does kobold tail attachment sweeper do
(it has trip property but:
'Sweeper: When properly used, this sharply curved piece
of metal can knock opponents off their feet. Unlike most
trip weapons, you cannot drop it if you are tripped during
your own trip attempt.'- Arg 136
and you can trip using any weapon)

Does tripping with a trip weapon provoke attack of oportunity?
by raw i woud say yes, but there are a few things unclear, and official standings on trip weapons have changed somewhat* it seems so i was interested was there any official word on this that i missed

(which says you can only use trip weapons to trip)
- http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/v5748dyo5lcom?Combat-Maneuvers-and-Weapon-Speci al-Features
(which says yo ucan trip, disarm and sunder with any weapon)

pros of non provoking:
1) "If you do not have the Improved Trip feat, or a similar ability, initiating a trip provokes an attack of opportunity from the target of your maneuver."
-does trip weapon quality qualify as 'similar ability'

2)general pro logic on the boards seems to be:
unarmed strikes= provokes attack of opportunity, unarmed trip=provokes attack of opportunity, attack with a weapon= doesnt provoke --->> trip with a weapon doesnt provoke

now although james jacobs has pointed out the flaw of that logic the question he was replying to didnt mention provoking AOOs so his reply didnt mention it either
http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2kkp5&page=4?Official-answers#162

3) (Arg 136, kobold tail attachments,sweeper)
Sweeper: When properly used, this sharply curved piece
of metal can knock opponents off their feet. Unlike most
trip weapons, you cannot drop it if you are tripped during
your own trip attempt.

now if you can trip using any (ie not 'trip' weapons) and sweeper has trip property but cannot be dropped what does trip property do then?

....)
(3.5 Player's Handbook pg. 159, last sub-heading of Trip:
"Tripping with a Weapon: Some weapons, including the spiked chain, dire flail, heavy flail, light flail, guisarme, halberd, and whip, can be used to make trip attacks. In this case, you make a melee touch attack with the weapon instead of an unarmed melee touch attack, and you don’t provoke an attack of opportunity. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the weapon to avoid being tripped.")

cons:
1)it isnt directly stated anywhere
2)for a few gp you avoid taking 2 feats

Not sure if this is the right subforum for this question
Spinosaurus animal companion doesn't get scent and low light as well as hold breath special abilities, although base animal from bestiary has them. I have noticed that some other dinosaurs (triceratops, Pachycephalosaurus, Iguanadon, Dimetrodon) that have scent and low light vision as animals don't get them as animal companions, but all other animals do. I haven't been able to find a pattern so i hope somebody could explain it
