I've updates Scoria's sheet to be a Sacred Fist warpriest. Hoping for the best, bit I know you have a lot to pick from!

Would a Sacred Fist Warpriest work as a healer? I think given the need for one I can convert Scoria and have the crunch ready later tonight. It wouldn't change too much about her backstory either, which is why I find the option rather exciting.

I believe I'm done converting Scoria now and hope that she might be looked favorably as a new recruit - she's likely still continuing with construction on the new cathedral.

We have many ideas for healer characters already, and the nonhealer we’re replacing was a inquisitor, so applying the monk is fine.

Awesome! I plan to rework Scoria into an Unchained monk, but generally her role favors disrupting spellcasters and specialists along with flanking enemies with her allies. Outside of combat she's excellent as a scout and observer.

Her backstory is one of living under the tutelage of her adoptive Vudrani parent who looked after her and taught her self defense. She ended up in Sandpoint finding work as a stonemason before the events of the goblin invasion kicked off her adventuring career.

Likewise, just checking in to say I'm still here.

Life inevitably marches on. If you only need a short break to try and work things out, or a long one to deal with whatever's happening with you, I'm all for waiting. The key to having fun with these forums games after all is having the patience to wait for another post. I can wait a long time.

Besides, I kind of want to see if Scoria can put on her 'I Told You So' disapproving stare about the ghoul guy or if she'll have to eat humble pie for jumping to conclusions. That and have her completely shut down a bull rushing opponent.

This has been the longest lasting game here that I've had the pleasure of playing. I knew that it couldn't last forever but I'd hope to play it through as long as possible. If you ever want to continue this, please feel free to try and restart this game. Hopefully I'll be here.

The monk sighs, relenting her position for the moment. "Fine. Let us deal with this necromancer then."

She sets off downstairs, catching up with Bel'tanis quickly.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"Were I about to turn into a monster that would murder all of you, I would hope that you would have the will to do what was necessary," Scoria states, concerned by this necromancer but equally concerned with leaving the turning ghoul here. "Sergeant. His affliction is in the end stages - I do not believe that he can be saved. Putting him down now means we no longer need to worry about him while we deal with the necromancer."

She looks at Khrondak and Thaddeus, holding her blade at the ready. "If either of you believe we can save him, then save him. If you cannot, don't prolong his suffering or the risk he poses to us and the other inmates of this place."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

The stonemason looks somewhat perplexed by the fact that she missed. She looks at Thaddeus and Khrondak in bafflement. "He's becoming a ghoul. We must put him down now before he can cause any more harm to others. Any further questioning of him is pointless and life-threatening to everyone in this room. You cannot reason with or interrogate a monster."

Somewhat annoyed by having to actually explain all of this, she attempts another coup de grace attack on the fallen man. A clean kill to end his suffering was what she was going for here.

Sword Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
CDG Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

If you still want to stop her after she'd taken the time to explain her actions (Entirely unnecessary in her judgment) just go ahead and get in front of her. Course, that does put you in ankle biting distance to a ghoul.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria doesn't hesitate - her sword swings automatically as the man snaps at Matthias, to cleave his head off in one quick and painless stroke - better to put him down before he could become a danger to everyone.

So, as he's bound and helpless, would this count as a coup de grace attack? I'll roll an attack roll just in case, with regular and critical damage.

Temple Sword Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Crit Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Fort Save to survive if coup de grace (10+damage dealt): 18.

Scoria circles around and looks at the crazed man, one hand on the hilt of her temple sword. She's quite ready to put the man down if she has any reason to suspect that he's turning into the undead, and will not hesitate to lop his head off immediately.

Scoria lingers at the back of the pack, looking around the sanatorium's interior and getting a read on the state of the institution.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria glances around the sanatorium, looking in particular for any scalable parts of the exterior, along with any windows that a person might be able to climb inside.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14

Know Religion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Well, I would have thought that it would be common knowledge that undead can make other undead, though the specifics between different types is what is needed for a knowledge roll. Also forgot she had religion trained, whoops!

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"That's not why we have to see him, sergeant." Scoria bluntly states. "And you should give the order to have the victim's bodies burned as well. Unless you wish to risk the chance that they will rise up from the dead. There are many breeds of those kinds of creature who can turn others into themselves. Sometimes the changes aren't so readily apparent."

Seeing that the sergeant agrees with going to the sanatorium, Scoria wastes no further time and sets out to head towards it.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"You're forgetting two important details, scholar. First, the killer called Midori out by name in their note. Second, the undead flesh we found indicates we're dealing with something more than the petty criminals you think are worth studying," Scoria speaks up. "You also assume a link between the murders at the farm, and the murders at the mill. There's nothing linking them together as far as I am aware. The only one who might tell us about the farm murders is currently locked in a..."

The stonemason pauses, thinking for a moment to herself before speaking to Thaddeus. "We need to go to the sanatorium as soon as possible. See the survivor Grayst. If both sets of murders are linked, he'll be the one who can link them."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria's quiet on the trip back to the garrison, and come in just in time to see Matthias try to play the bad constable. The stonemason reaches out and grabs the scholar by his shoulder, turning him around and leveling a cold stare at him.

"All are innocent until guilt is proven. Do not treat those who have not been proven guilty like criminals. Understood?"

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"I am satisfied." Scoria says, putting the dagger back and turning around. "Let us return to Thaddeus now. Perhaps he is finished with his task as well."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"One moment," Scoria states, reaching out and picking the dagger up by the hilt. She examines it to ensure that it hasn't seen recent use - due diligence necessary for the sergeant's approval and to prevent a return trip.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"I agree," Scoria tells him, "Not about them getting away, but that the dagger is not of consequence in this case. The sergeant is simply not not making any assumptions about the matter and attempting to eliminate possibilities. He is in charge of this investigation - we are simply his assistants."

She's quiet for a moment, before adding as she squeezes his hand gently, "And you must stop tormenting yourself over things that are out of your control. You cannot hold yourself with any responsibility for the things that people you've never met have done or might do."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria sighs, looking at Thaddeus. "Let us split, then. Bel'Tanis and I will see about the dagger. The rest can see about the bodies brought to the garrison. We will meet you there," She states, heading off with the aasimar.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria glances between Midori and Bel'Tanis, pressing her lips together thinly and turning away. "I agree, we should head to the farm immediately. Let's go," She urges, giving the aasimar's arm a short tug.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria looks at Midori, before coming to her side and speaking to her softly. "I am unaware of the details of your father's death, but if this Lordship is obsessed with you, it appears to be a recent occurrence. Do you know of anyone who has taken an interest in you in the past few months since you've come to this town? Perhaps someone with ties to nobility if they're calling themselves a lord. But that's too broad an assumption to make right now. We should look into the other murder at the farm for evidence of undead - if so, then these murders are most certainly linked."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria looks at the vanished flesh, before giving Matthias a level stare. "Next time, please do not destroy all the evidence," She tells him, heading out to report the findings to Thaddeus. She catches the tail end of what Hemlock has to say to Bel'Tanis and steps up to him, speaking in a flat tone.

"Bel'Tanis was never an item with that woman. I would meet those responsible for these lies and beat honesty into their heads personally for that," She states with perhaps a touch more venom than was usual for the stonemason, whirling around to speak to Thaddeus.

"They were killed by something undead. I know not the specifics, nor will we be able to determine such, as the scholar destroyed all of the samples of their flesh left determining if it did belong to the unliving, as opposed to simply examining them." She states. "It is something foul smelling at least, as little as that aids us."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"There's flesh on this axe that's far too rotten to belong to these people," Scoria states calmly, masking her disgust and horror under stoic professionalism. "Scholar - can you determine if flesh belongs to the undead?" She asks - the only reason she could think of the axe head having such rotten meat on it was if it had been used first as a defensive weapon before being wrenched away from its holder.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"The act is reprehensible, yes," Scoria comments to Bel'Tanis' exclamation. She steps forward and glances at Midori's note when she looks at it, thinking quietly about that as she heads into the sawmill. The monk treads lightly amidst the scene, searching the scene and trying to determine what happened in here.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Scoria has a more frugal existence to her, so she'll be taking the Poor lifestyle. She hasn't yet decided if she wants to put roots down in Sandpoint after all.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria would be found out in front of the House of Blue Stones, her home away from home here in Sandpoint. The oread had been in a meditative stance since morning, rooted to the spot as she practiced calmly. Seeing Thaddeus' approach permitted her to take a break - despite the rather chill turn of the weather, her attire had more or less stayed the same - less than one truly ought to wear when it was cool and windy.

"A murder?" She inquires when informed, thinking it over before sighing. "I am not an investigator but a stonemason. However, you will probably be as insistent as the last time. I'll help you with this, but do not think that means I am accepting a watch position - I am awaiting word on another project my guild can offer me work on in Magnimar."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria will probably want to continue to do some work as a stonemason while looking for another big job, so I'm thinking that if anyone in town desires services such as inspecting foundations and the older buildings to see if they're in need of service, she's the girl. Otherwise she'll mostly be doing upkeep practice at the House of Blue Stones.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

It's time for Skinsaw, yay!

Khrondak did, I was thinking. He's the horse guy.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

I'd certainly enjoy the opportunity to turn an evil weapon into a not evil weapon. And for a month of downtime...I suppose by the time that we start the Skinsaw stuff, Scoria would have a new masonry job lined up in Magnimar, and is juuuuuust about to leave for it when this stuff happens and drags her back into adventure.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"If Nualia had this key, she would have opened that vault, that prison before we arrived. The fact we found it laying in the dust of that hidden part means she did not managed to get to it. Which is why we should not seek to do what she wanted to do for her," Scoria points out.

"And if you wish for a more permanent solution, there is only one bridge crossing onto that island. Burn it and you prevent anyone from reaching it." She looks at Matthias. "Everything we've come across points to Malfeshnekor to be a demon, not a celestial. Even their name points to that. That prison has held since Thassilon was in power and creature within, if it is still alive, can stay in there. It is only a threat to Sandpoint and to ourselves if we let it out. If you think it is an angel, prove it, and I will give you the key to unlock it myself. But the safety of this town is more important than our curiosity."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"It is foolishness to return to that place at all," Scoria comments to Bel'tanis. "Especially for something like opening up that vault. Correction, that prison. You would release a powerful demon that would slaughter us all to sate your curiosity - that is decidedly irresponsible."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

That might be a problem. As Scoria has the key to that particular vault everyone wants to crack open. She's fairly certain that whatever's inside there is insidious and deadly and it would be irresponsible to open it at all.

That said, I'm not going to have her stubbornly refuse to hand the key over, you just have to present a better argument for possibly releasing a demon than 'I wanna see what's inside there' first.

Scoria looks at Midori oddly. "You misunderstand. I never said I would not help you - just that it was a waste of our time investigating something that we've already been through. Going back to the island is pointless for that - it is a dead end. We are better off researching what we already know."

When they reach Father Zantus, Scoria relays to him everything they encountered on the island, including an aft description of the statue and chambers underneath the burnt remains of Chopper's home. "Do you have an idea as to what god or creature that statue may represent?" She asks, thinking it over in her head.

The stonemason sighs, everyone apparently ready to head back to that wretched island. "If there is a connection by that symbol, we should know what it represents before making judgments. I will stay here and do research on it while you explore the island further - I do not think you will find anything more than what we encountered already, but it is not my place to stop you."

That said, she heads to Father Zantus' with the others just long enough so that they can deposit the wretched knife.

"...Nualia's plans with the demon are done, sergeant." Scoria points out. "As for the seven pointed star, perhaps you should ask a historian what it means. There is no good reason to return to that island except to waste your time. We have accomplished everything we can there. If you still wish to poke around, you'll do so without me. I have more important things to do."

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria's not going back. There's absolutely nothing left on that island that would necessitate her to return to it - the boy's remains are recovered, there are no monsters there to fight, it's intellectual value is based only on it being the property of a dead murderer, and it's no longer town watch business. There's just no good reason to go back.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria let's Thaddeus talk here - she just places the blanket wrapped remains down carefully on his workbench before leaving.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Dunno about anyone else but Scoria's planning on leaving the island, unless Thaddeus states otherwise. Bring the boy's remains to his father.

The monk wraps the stuffed dog up with the rest of the child's body. She looks at Bel'tanis, responding to his question. "The Chopper murders happened years ago when the boy went missing. Time is not kind to the remains of the deceased."

She heads back up the stairs, ready to leave this place and get off the accursed island.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

"I believe I've found his son," Scoria says as she looks at the skeleton, carefully wrapping the bony remains up in the blanket. She pays little heed to the laughing and crying - ghosts would go away once they'd been put to rest, and the best way to do that would be to bury the dead - preferably far from this island.

"Let's leave now, before the tide comes in," She tells the others, carrying the corpse bundle in both arms.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

The monk looks around the place carefully, hoping that there isn't anything particularly nasty waiting to leap out at her. She just counts herself lucky that this low within the island, there's no flooding. She checks underneath the blanket and looks at the papers to see if anything is written upon them.

Female Oread Sacred Fist Warpriest of Irori 4 (AC: 17) [T: 17 F: 14] HP: 37/37 Fort: +6 Ref: +3 Will +7 Perc: +10 Init: +2)

Scoria's already gone onwards, so that seems like a safe bet.
